Should I Spend Donuts on the Picnic Spot and Mrs. Scratchy?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Out with the old and in with the new!  Itchy and Scratchy Land exited stage left and the Poochie mini-event arrived stage right!  Because 6 weeks of Itchy and Scratchy wasn’t enough. Of course, an all-new mini-event means a new opportunity for EA to add new premium items to our stores!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Picnic Spot and Mrs. Scratchy to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Scratchtastic Combo to your town…

Character: Mrs. Scratchy
Building/Decoration: Picnic Spot
Donut Cost: 165 Donuts
Earns: Picnic Spot earns a 4.5% bonus on cash and XP
Size:
7×7
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +200
Other Info:
Can be placed on the grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt

Leaves stores July 25th

Pros
-Will help earn event currency for the Poochie Mini Event (premium rate)
-Comes with her own questline
-Picnic Spot Earns good bonus %
-Amusing visual tasks

Cons
-Really pricey for who she is/what she does
-Not voiced

Final Thought
Premium:
Another fairly typical premium character/decoration combo.  I’m a little disappointed at her price, even if Scratchy was 300 Donuts this seems high for his wife.  Otherwise it’s a standard pickup, if you like it grab it…otherwise pass.

Freemium:
Meh, I’d pass.  Especially if you didn’t buy Scratchy

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m still on the fence with this one.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at their tasks…

Mrs. Scratchy’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Cough Up a Hairball Like a Lady 1hr $105, 26xp Brown House
Clean Up After “Fight, Fight, Fight!” 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Scratch Out Her Itchy Aggression 8hrs $420, 105xp Outside/Visual
Catch Mice for Scratchy’s Dinner 12hrs $600, 150xp Brown House
Go on a Catnip Bender 24hrs $1000, 225xp Moe’s

Will also have tasks to Overpay for Sex on the Beach, Try to Win At Blackjack, Drink and Babysit and Dance the Senor Burns…provided you have the buildings associated with those tasks.

What are your thoughts on the Pinic Spot and Mrs. Scratchy?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

I have Itchy/Scratchy as well as Ms. Itchy….so had to have Mrs. Scratchy. The picnic area is nice.

She’s been doing event work since I got her so I haven’t seen her visual tasks yet.

  2. Despite really wanting the picnic spot and what looks like a fun 8hr animation, 165 donuts puts her in the wait for Mystery Box category with Ms Mouse. I sprung for Tina Ballerina last second to have the disco for Parent Island. I also got the NPC bundle and the Robots, hoping against hope they would be drawn to the KL paths and the parade stations.
No such luck, mascots, NPC’s, robots, park engineer, Tina, I & S- all roaming my main Springfield. Hopefully this is something EA will fix but seeing as how my street sweeper is still only cleaning dirt roads in Blood Bath Gulch, I’m not holding my breath. 😞

  3. I can’t figure out why the brown house is used at all when a charcacter comes with a companion piece…why not code the picnic spot to pay out and have her jobs there? There are precedents for dual XP bonus/payout items. At the current prices, why not give us a truly valuable item that the character can utilize? My brown houses are over-crowded already…please no more brown house jobs just cuz its easier to code👎🙄.

    • Most likely because EA never created an animation for the picnic spot at all. In order to have every premium character animate its companion piece, those companion pieces have to graphically designed to animate.

That’s why I suggested that premium characters just be coded to animate an existing building. No additional work for the graphic designers – just a coding for location to be added.

  4. Hmmm…we may have turned a corner in comments! Nobody mentioned the fairly high Bonus Increase Percentage. I was kind of on the fence…but the high bonus pushed me off.

Did ya’ land on your feet, arms thrust into a “Rocky Victory Stance”?
Or did you land else-wise, aka Humpty Dumpty?
      🤔

I hope it was a Superhero landing! Alas, since as usual there is no visual task longer than 8 hours, it’s a no for me.

  5. Gosh I purchased them all! Roy, and Squirrel, and Mrs. Scratchy too! It’s 7/16 and I will have all the items by the end of the day. I remember all of these characters! P. to the, O. to the, O. to the…. Word to ya Mutha 🤙Hang Loose Party Peeps!!

I ♥️ her, yet I will spend sprinkles on her when there’s a return at Discount (say 100 Donuts). Great Character, but EA needs to rethink it’s prices (in my opinion) with free Land Token to seal the deal! 👍

  7. The character is a little expensive I think, but its worth it if you have Scratchy.

As the wiki covers, she appears in quite a few cartoons.

Also she and the picnic spot parodies UP which is pretty cool.

With all of these character costing so many donuts now I can’t buy as many characters as I used to. 😭

  9. I will probably buy this later before event ends.

I’d love to get this but not for 165 donuts…I also passed on Scratchy…I did however pick up Disapproving Squirrel, even though I thought that was overpriced as well. I’m really looking forward to Halloween and Christmas Events; hope EA has some affordable purchases mixed in with the higher priced ones. Thanks Addicts for all you do!! Happy tapping everybody and have a lovely day! : )

  11. I am having a problem with characters being stuck I can’t get characters to be released from krusty burger I have done every thing and now the mini event one of the characters is stuck and can’t continue please help thanks in advance

  12. There seems to be a peculiar run of Characters without 12- and 24-hour Jobs. I suspect that players with 150+ Characters are the target consumers, but such players, who tend to have little interest in clearing their town every 4 hours, may view these choices as quite the lack of incentive. As in, why buy what you’ll rarely ever see?

    • I have a ton of characters and exclusively use the 4 hour jobs. My guess is EA has data that shows which jobs get used the most. With most events needing 4 hour logins I am guessing most people are trained to go I to the game every 4 or 8 hours anyway.

    • I think you mean 12- and 24-hour ANIMATED jobs.

These days, with performance woes, I make a point to not use jobs which has the character being animated-while-mobile. That uses more resources, and I’ve stored a few characters because I hate having to deal with their animation on 12/24 hr jobs.

I don’t have an issue with indoor jobs – I just wished EA would use more variety of buildings where the job happens instead of always using Brown House. Especially when it comes to premium characters, they should be more like The Wise Guy – just animate the closest House/Business/etc…

That way players who prefer indoor jobs can have buildings be animated instead of characters out and about.

      • Animated, yes. And I agree. I too like indoor Jobs when animating less-utilized Buildings. That, however, is rare. Understandably so, I suppose, considering many players would not have them. Personally, I would prefer a built-in hierarchy wherein the same Job animates the less-utilized before the frequently-utilized. A win, win.

        • The recently released Ronald Reagan character shows that EA is now coding alternate positions for indoor jobs. He uses the re-education center (Alcatraz) unless it’s in the ocean, otherwise it’s the Squidport.

If we can’t have the nearest-house/business like The Wise Guy, I’d love it if EA were to create a primary/secondary. Send the premium character to animate another premium building if it’s present. If not… brown house. That would be the best balance between good value and low strain on the device we’re playing on.

          • They have for some time, but it does not always seem to work out, and the Building selected may simply be proximity-based. I would not be surprised if the Alcatraz issue is a glitch that is corrected down the line. Characters walk over water in our Springfields all the time.

  13. I don’t like the character, but i wanted the picnic spot, so we’ll, now I have her in addition. 🙂

  14. I love all these Itchy & Scratchy characters, especially disapproving squirrel. As far as character additions go, I haven’t been this satisfied since the Terwilliger event
