The Simpsons and Comic Con 2018: THOH Preview

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Happy Saturday!  Hope you’re all enjoying the start of the weekend!

So Comic Con 2018 is in full swing in San Diego, California right now.  Today at noon Pacific time (3pm ET) Matt Groening, Al Jean, Mike Anderson, David Silverman and Tres Macneille will hold their annual Simpsons Comic-Con Panel!

I’ll do my best (later today) to find some videos of the Panel and share them with you guys on this post, but for now, I wanted to show you what they have released in advance of the panel….the 2018 Tree House of Horror poster!

And a brief synopsis…

Homer wins an oyster-eating contest against the mythical Cthulhu.  Springfield is overrun by plant body-snatchers, Lisa finally snaps, and Mr. Burns opens a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades.”

Sounds like we’re in for a pretty awesome THOH episode this year!

Thoughts on the released content?  Excited for what this may mean for TSTO? Planning on going to The Simpsons Comic Con panel today?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

UPDATE  Scenes from Comic Con:

  1. I really hope something from this year’s Halloween episode makes it into the game during the Halloween event since last year’s episode was forgotten during the magic event. It would also be great if there were more episode tie ins in the game since there have been fewer and fewer tie ins each season, considering it is season 30 there should at least be an episode tie in each month to keep the game fresh during the grinds of long events.

  2. Well HUGE 👍 to Mondo for that Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror poster (2 variants were available at SDCC, I’m sure that both sold out quickly). This Season’s Treehouse of Horror – with Game App tie in – cannot come soon enough (hope we get a Bodysnatchers – Cthulhu Event) 😉

  3. That would be cool, now that they’ve thrusted our Krustylands into our Springfields, to do a Krustyland Horror Nights overlay or skin or even event on top of the theme park area. It would save us having to worry about land, for those who are short on extra space or land tokens, and even add some rides to the theme park area. I’m still hoping for a return of the Krusty monorail station or even a new Krustyland monorail station to become available since I ran my monorail line through both my Krustyland and ISLand just in case.

  4. I absolutely loathe the Halloween episodes, the last one I enjoyed was #10. I’ll just be happy to get past these and be done with it.

    • Wow! Loathe is such a powerful word… It’s like saying you hate something to the 20th power. But, OK. That’s the wonderful thing about social media…everyone has an opinion, while trying to be social. Or something like that.

      • I do, though. I would be happy if they never did another Halloween episode. I know I’m in the minority there. They are the only episodes I will watch once and only once…most of the others I will watch every time I can. I do like some of the earlier ones but as I said, any after #10 have been a waste.

  5. The poster is amazing.

  6. Man did that taily Halloween espisode stink. Hopefully this one is closer to the classic simpsons halloween episodes

  7. T Rex Grandpa better not be a 300 donut skin

  8. I asked for pod people last year…yippe skippy! Hope they have skins for everybody, or better yet, something akin to the Zombie Sandwich where everybody can participate. Go mutant plants!

    • I love love love zombie sandwich. So much fun!

    • Keith1Roon991

Zombie sandwich, I am waiting for this to come out again, didn’t have the donuts last time

    • Zombie Sandwich is by FAR my favorite, best-donuts-ever-spent item. It sits in the trees, hidden behind my prison/Juvie Hall area.

Halloween is, IMHO, the whole reason for this game. Christmas is a distant second.

  9. Plants we had with the terwilligers, body snatchers basically with the rigellian THOH event, jurassic could be fun…we shall see…

  10. I’m thinking its going to have one story from Season 27, Episode 4: Halloween of Horror. Lisa freaks out when she thinks she’s old enough to handle Krustyland horror nights and she can’t. Also there’s a hint of Cthulhu in. Would be cool if they excluded that.

Sounds like it’s going to be a fun event 😀 Doing some redesigning in my town while we’ve got a little down time. Very happy I can group store, saves so much time when moving & keeping it all together😁😁😁 Will still be better than nuking. I’m looking forward to seeing ebron’s town when it’s done 😀

  12. ~very cool, & relevant. Personally i always hoped for a Itchy & Scratchy land crossover event like the season 6 ep 4 episode where robots try to takeover & kill everyone, & where you would have to fight them with camera flashes or something akin, but this again sounds like fun.

  13. Can anyone from the uk confirm that sky didn’t actually show last season’s THOH episode? I remember looking for it but not seeing it when they aired rhe series.

    • I had it recorded on Sky from January 19th but this year the episodes were aired on Fridays instead of being on Sundays so that could be why you missed it.

      • Thanks. My tivo records them from both sky and c4 when it finds them so I’m not sure what happened. I’ll see if I can find it elsewhere. ☺

  14. Guessing: One act will be about mutant plants, one act will be about prehistoric animals, and one act will be the mythical creature Cthulhu. Mythical Cthulhu will probably be the final prize of that act. Possibly mutant plant skins for some of the common characters (Homer, Lisa, Bart, Marge, Maggie, Milhouse, etc.). Tappables could be mutant plants or prehistoric animals. Dinosaur NPCs might make their way into the crafting or most likely premium purchase option. Looks like those who love to design might get the opportunity to do great things (space provided in their town). Thinking some craftable/prize decorations might work well in other areas designed (think Prehistoric Act from the Time Travel Toaster Event – 2017) and other Halloween designed areas.

Hoping the THOH event is as good as the synopsis is.

  15. Any idea of upcoming mini events or others before our favorite time of the year?

    • The next major event will probably be another superhero event having something to do with The Depenables given the littlr hint about “an old school super summer”.

  16. Looks good, all the character’s turned into plant monsters, like the Jurassic theme, just hope the event is as good as the poster/hype lol
