Should I Spend Donuts On Azzlan and Serfsons House?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Lions and Tigers and Emus…oh my!  The Springfield Zoo (aka Moe’s Ark) event is in full swing in our pocket-sized towns!  Of course, by now, we all know that a new event means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Azzlan and Serfsons House to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Serfson Combo to your town…

Building/Decoration: Serfsons House

5×10

$200, 22xp/8hrs

Pros
-Comes with a short questline
-Can earn event currency at ALL Habitat locations throughout the entire event
– Each member of The Simpson’s family has a permament 4hr Premium task at the Serfsons house (Larp as Commoners)
-Sefsons House is animated when in use, lights on smoke out of Chimney

Cons
-Not voiced
-Very expensive combo for who it is/what it does.  One off character and building

Final Thought
Premium:
Personally I’m not a fan of this combo.  Over priced and underwhelming.  Even as a premium player, I’d pass.

Freemium:
Avoid this one.  Not worth the donuts spent for Freemium players.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m passing.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now). Also, since this is an item that helps with the event, it’s better to pick this up sooner rather than later if you plan to grab it.  This way you maximize the event currency earning throughout the entire event.

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Azzlan’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Argue Theology 1hr $105, 26xp Flanders House
Hand Out Literature 4hrs $260, 70xp* Outside/Visual
Offer Solace 8hrs $420, 105xp* Outside/Visual
Bathe in Baptism Pool 12hrs $600, 150xp First Church of Springfield
Eat His Feelings 24hrs $1000, 225xp* Krusty Burger

*His 4hr, 8hr, and 24hr tasks will earn event currency for the duration of the event.  Once the event is over they’ll revert to cash/XP.
Will also have tasks to Overpay for Sex on the Beach, Try to Win At Blackjack, Drink and Babysit and Dance the Senor Burns…provided you have the buildings associated with those tasks.

What are your thoughts on Azzlan and Serfsons House?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. A character lion was too appealing for me to pass up.

  2. Azzlan and Serfsons House

It just reminds me of Halloween 2017 (and how much I hated that Event – I still haven’t forgiven EA!), 185 sprinkles for what should be 120 sprinkles (I’m sure this Character Building Combo will end up in a Mystery Box at discount) and still waiting for Sarah Wiggum.

  3. I bought because I love a good Bible pushing lion. Plus I buy all premium items and characters.

  4. Josephine Kick@$$

    It’s an animal… nuff said
    😂😂😂

  5. I like the character and the tasks plus I have enough donuts to buy him outright but my general inclination is to wait to buy him until the second act as I’m on track with the questline and at over 150 donuts it would make it tough to get those really short window items that EA makes available to us. Also with Sara around the corner, I want to make sure I can purchase her as she is more about the simpsons than azlan.

  6. I opted for Kitenge instead. He’s canon, human, and I’ve actually seen his episode. 🙂

  7. I got it, made a magical (kinda) area in the zoo for it and the “peek-at you” characters. After I downsize the zoo at the end of the event (inevitable), it can all move over to the Angelica Buttons area (where it really belongs), along with the Elf Hotel and the Nag and Weasel. 😁

  8. I don’t like the fact that they added Azlan in this event, it doesn’t make any sense… But I laughed so much when I saw him in the Serfsons episode that I had to buy it. But it really doesn’t make any sense with the zoo…

  9. Oops, wish I had seen this earlier.
As soon as I got him and saw the dated quest line there was a regret.

  10. Another off-topic question. I picked Sheri/Terri from the mystery box. The have a sub quest line that requires the Krustyland entrance. I know that some were saying that once placed, it could not be stored. Is this still the case?

  11. A playable lion in my town?

    KA-CHING 😆🦁

  12. Put next to chateau maison, makes a good rural wine district. Surrounded with lavender fields and vineyards.

  13. Enough already. How could I help but notice another 4-8 animated Job combo? I finally sat down and researched this…

The trend goes back to last year, but thus far in 2018 alone, EA has released 59 Characters/Costumes — 45 of them with the 4-8 Animated Job combo.

    Six (6) 60-min
    Three (3) 3-hour
    55 4-hour
    51 8-hour
    Three (3) 12-hour
    Zero (0) 24-hour

Glaringly, there have been no 24-hour Jobs. Also, there have only been three (3) 12-hour Jobs – two (2) of which were for super-premium Maw and Hans Mechman. Coincidence? The last 24-hour Job was for Buddha in Winter 2017. There was one (1) 12-hour, no other 24-hour Jobs in that Event.

So is this EA’s cut and paste LAP, a means to reduce animation lag, or a jab at long-time players who send their Characters on long Jobs to reduce the grind of resetting 200+ Characters, as if to say, “here you go guys, but you’ll never see them, thanks for the money”?

    Whatever the reason, not cool.

P.S. Feel free to fact check that, but the numbers will not be far off.

    • LOLSteelBullet

Its more that they know most players operate on 4-8 cycles. That’s why all the event tasks tend to be 4 hours long. Thus, they’re pouring their animations into the lengths most used by the players.

      • I have heard that, and I understand the point, but I don’t buy it. The game used to distribute animated (visual) Jobs rather evenly. Now, they are almost exclusively 4 and 8 hours. If TSTO grew this large based on a fairly even distribution and it was supported by players who invested for years, there is no reason to remove the lengthy visuals. It was working.

Plenty of players – particularly premium players, i.e. spenders – run on 24-hour cycles, logging in periodically for the quick Event resets, and now we never see any new Characters. Spending money on a digital town is already questionable, spending on things I’ll never see in my digital town?

        • If you have enough cash, it really doesn’t matter how much the characters make anymore. Sooo, you can just put them in whatever tasks you like (4hr, 8hr, 12hr…choose any of them) and still only collect every 24 hrs, no problem. I have some favorite tasks I keep a lot of characters in, but I only collect everybody every 24 hrs.

          • True. Perhaps its the addict nature in me, but I do not like seeing all those thumbs walking around Springfield so I clear them when I see them, and I would prefer to see them less frequently, reserving the option to send out on shorter Jobs, whether visual or not.

Still, 61 straight Characters/Costumes without a 24-hour Job? If not for NPCs and older Characters, my 10K-Donut Springfield would be a ghost town.

          • This is exactly what I’ve been doing this past year. I don’t always have time to assign all individual tasks so most end up in the group assignment at the end. I’ve certainly changed the way I play over the years. And thanks for that research stone! I love knowing stuff like that. I’ve noticed this trend also since I like to use the longer tasks.

It’s annoying me that this last batch of characters all seem to have their fun 8 hr tasks listed below one of the mass 8 hr indoor tasks, meaning all those characters will be sent indoors. Maybe they’re trying to cut down on how many visuals are going at once?

I really want a ‘Confirm Neighbor Visit’ button like the donut buying one. Please? 😀 RachelS

      • Pyanfar the Hani

I too don’t buy the “because most players” argument without facts. Even so, so what? A block of players – long-time loyal ones – would like an occasional nod that their game play style exists.

Thanks for all the research you did! This trend really annoys me. The time it takes to reset 200+ characters every four hours is simply not worth it. The bigger Springfield grows, the longer it takes.

So 150+ donuts over and over again for characters I’ll never see? Nope. This does feel like cut and paste coding.

Anyway, keeping my donuts for the Vault or Mystery box combos. Sherri and Terri – 3 outdoor tasks. Those were the days.

        • I still manually reset both my towns each morning & play evrey 3 to 4 hours whilst I’m awake (Australian ES time) During events I now naturally wake for the 4 hour reset cycle! Sad but true!

    • This especially annoys me with Kitage. The standard “drink at Moe’s” task is eight hours. But his is twelve, because his eight hour is an animated job. Just give us the longer animated job, EA!

      • This is the 63rd straight Character/Costume released since the last 24-hour Job (Buddha), the 46th 4-8 combo – three (3) 12-hour Jobs in the meantime. EA has clearly abandoned that.

    • I often send most of the characters I am not using for any quests or monorail on 12 hour jobs and the few that don’t have one on 24 hours jobs. Then I can do any daily challenge that needs some or all of them to complete. You can get more money for shorter jobs but the time needed to keep checking on them is extensive. It also help to use the employment centre to send them on jobs.

  14. Pass for me, got an elephant that needs a zoo task lol

  15. I got him right away first day of the event because I had the donuts from farming and I like the character.

  16. I wasnt going to get him anyway, but I still like to read these posts. And I am really annoyed with the amount of 4h jobs. Why cant they change things up and make new jobs 2h, 3h, 6h or 10h and add those time options to the office of unemployment? Some charcters have 5 or more 4h jobs, whats the point?

  17. I bought it, for a farmer a nice addition and makes the event a bit easier. As I found out farming for 9 months now, not only bonus % helps, but all the characters I gained also helps speed up the income. I also bought the 2400 donuts for 19,99 as a support for AE holding the game alive, not that I realy need them. On IOS I had no problem, got the 2400 donuts at the spot.

  18. I bought him because I love Narnia. I also like to buy one character per event to help me get ahead. I placed his home in my Halloween area. I love that he travels door to door preaching.

  19. So… i’ll Write more about this in my Friday Filler…but no. Just because he is a lion, and it’s a zoo???

    Talk about zooligical profiling!

Nope. Sorry. Love CS Lewis… but the Serfson’s episode has nothing to do with a zoo…and even Marge rejected him.

  20. I bought him. I had all the other Serfson characters.

  21. I picked him up. I like grabbing an event character to help me along so it’s not as stressful if I miss a window logging in and it means I’m a little bit ahead.

  22. Yes, I got him too. I pass nearly everything because I only get what I really, really want. I like the building that comes with it, simple and attractive. There are not enough animals and greenery in Springfield so I like the lion and yes, I like it being Aslan trying to sell Christianity to Flanders. Not being Christian or anything else myself, I still loved Narnia and Aslan.

  23. TallSpiderCandy

So why did only some people get awesome free bonus content? My Husband got 300 free donuts, a free character combo, and an offer of 2400 donuts for $20.00. Meanwhile, I get 60 free donuts and Gil’s deal of 300 donuts for $10.00, didn’t work so tried again it, another $10.00 and…nothing. EA said wait 24 hours. Been almost a week and silence from EA, still no 600 donuts, plus my XP meter is filling up but not giving me chance at any donuts, and I’m beyond frustrated. Now my XP meter is out and I’m scared to spend more real money so I cannot even farm some donuts. I really wanted Azzlan! This is a game…it’s supposed to be fun! I love this game and have stuck thru some crappy happenings over the years (the worst–rollback glitch *sigh*) but I have to say just how disappointed I am right now. EA tempted me with a zoo and gave me animal crackers instead…and the fact that they are ignoring me isn’t helping either ☹

  24. Freemi7m player, but still had to get it! I love lions! Could not help myself! It helps with the event anyhow.

  25. Bangles Dupree

But…he’s Azzlan! I think the Narnia fans are gonna have to have him! I got him right away and was happy I did. (I do agree the price was high for a nonvoiced character though.)

    • 🤷‍♀️ but it’s a game about the Simpsons not Narnia. I gotta base my assessments on The Simpsons…one off, overpriced, non canon character that’s a fail to me…

      • Personally I like the Tree House of Horrors the best. And this kinda of fall in that category. For you the reasoning (non canon) is valid, but how much of this game is now non canon?

      • I’m a HUGE Narnia fan. Like, I went and watched my sister’s grade 4/5 students do The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe this past spring level huge. Still a pass for me for all the reasons you said, Alissa. I’d rather save those sprinkles for someone you’ve been begging EA for but we all know is going to feel like an ouch in terms of price.

    • The point of these isn’t to really decide whether you should buy an item, but to provide a good objective analysis on what you’re getting and whether for your average player if it’s a good buy.

Lord knows I ignored Alissa and Patric multiple times during the last THoH because I love Harry Potter. If they ever did a star wars/trek event, I wouldn’t even bother with these and just buy everything in sight. If you like something, buy it! Again, these are just here to ensure you make an educated purchase.

  26. Nope I’m still to low to donut farm so I’m wasting all my donuts on stuff with good bonus… maybe in like two events from now( Christmas!!!) 😉
