Should I Spend Donuts On the Rambler?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

New day, new mini-event in Springfield!  Yes, Superheros are back!  The all-new mini-event has hit our towns with a super theme.  Of course, by now, we all know that a new event means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add The Rambler to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding the newest superhero to your town…

Character: The Rambler
Donut Cost: 60 Donuts

Leaves stores September 26th

Pros
-Comes with a questline
-Can earn Radioactive Ooze
-Premium earning costume for Grampa, so it’ll turn a freemium character premium
-Comes with a bonus questline if you purchase Iron Lung

Cons
-Only has 1 animated task unless you purchase Iron Lung

Final Thought
Premium:
Meh, this one is a toss-up.  Animated tasks are lacking and it is just a skin.  It’s one of those “if you like it, get it” items…

Freemium:
Not a bad price to turn a freemium character premium, although I’m not thrilled with his visual tasks. (you have to buy Iron Lung to see both visual tasks) Personally, I think Freemium players should pass on this one and save your donuts for full characters.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m likely passing.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now). Also, since this is an item that helps with the event, it’s better to pick this up sooner rather than later if you plan to grab it.  This way you maximize the event currency earning throughout the entire event.

Here’s a look at his tasks…

The Rambler’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Play Cards 1hr $210, 52xp Outside/Visual Requires Iron Lung
Bore Criminals to Sleep 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Wash Super Suit 8hrs $420, 105xp Simpson’s House
Eat More Krusty Burgers to Try to Remember 12hrs $600, 150xp Krusty Burger
Mooch Off His Son 24hrs $1000, 225xp Simpson’s House

What are your thoughts on the Rambler?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Hi
Bought this skin thinking it looks good. Only one of his tasks is available? All the rest are greyed out marked quest….
Do I need Iron Lung too activate these?
    Thanks

    • No you need to do the questline

      • I have no quest lines active other than Everyman… is the Rambler involved in this
        Cheers

        • Try storing Grandpa and bringing him out again to trigger the new quest…this has happened to me several times with other characters and skins. Be sure to sync the game before you bring him back. 😁

          • Thanks
I gave it a go but it doesnt seem too trigger any further tasks for the Rambler
Will try it again… it will probably pop up around Christmas!

            • Oh well, you gave it a shot…it may randomly trigger in the future.
I just pulled my Fortress of Lonelitude out of storage and a quest triggered with Comic Book Guy that I’ve never seen and I’ve had the Fortress for years. 🤷‍♀️ If the Rambler is offered some day in a mystery box, it may trigger the quest. Or, you could contact EA and ask them to trigger it for you…they may get to it by Christmas.😄

      • I am having the same problem. I completed the quest where Rambler finds and returns Lisa’s science project. But no other quests have started, and the only unlocked task is the four-hour “Bore Criminals to Sleep.” Tried Ebron’s suggestion of store/unstore, but that did not work…

    • I got the skin simply because I wanted another for Abe besides ye ol’ Stonecutter. I, too, am locked out of all tasks except the 4-hr one, with no quests triggering. I didn’t start any of his quest tasks until I finished the event, as I wanted to use him to earn event currency…hope this didn’t mess with things. The storage/sync/replace trick didn’t work this time (tho’ has in the past), and oddly enough, I had no problems with Iron Lung ‘s tasks opening up in other town, so…hmmm. I dread the ring-a-ding-ding to EA, but that might be the only option left.😝😱😵

  2. Not gonna get it. It’s a skin. I never switch any skins, plus they still switch back to non-premium ones when a task “make springfielsders do whatever” appear.
Maybe in a couple of years when it comes back, I will get him, because I like to have character collections complete… but so far I can live without him.

  3. Nope. I already have a premium skin for Grandpa, so I’d only have considered it if it had great visual tasks that were 12 and 24 hours. Ha! 1hr? What am I going to do with that?

I did however get the moleman/lung skin because it looked and sounded funny. So disappointed that there are no great visual tasks that are 12/24hrs, but I LOVE watching him wheel around before I set him on task!!!

  4. I’m still debating this. I already have premium skins for Grandpa,,did not have moleman so I jumped on the iron lung combo. I wonder what are the chances that EA might try to do a full Superhero 3 event in the future? They tend to use the same characters for everything. It’d be nice if they would use Carl & Lenny,Snake,a number of other characters totally underutilized,,imo.

  5. My Dad drove a Rambler Ambassador for many years. Had to buy a Rambler for my town.

  6. Got him! Completionist! 😁 lol and farmer of course! Really looking forward to this years Christmas and other deals. First year have been buying as I want instead of taking weeks to get one character! More excited about this TSTO Christmas than have been in ages!!! 😁

EA it would be nice if we could send our friends presents for Christmas! Just saying! Love my friends but a lot quit playing. Would be nice to drop a new character or two in friends towns! 🙄

    • Maybe a “Christmas Mystery Box ” drop for our neighbors…earn a gift thru a mini-game and then be able to drop it in a neighbor’s town?

      • Event currency would be a nice option in the box…could drop it on neighbors who need a little help (newbies with few characters?).

  7. the Rambler

Well, it’s a Character Skin for 60 Sprinkles, but this would have been an Event Prize during a past Event, right?

If you don’t have a Premium Skin for Grandpa Simpson? This will do, but wouldn’t be surprised if this shows up with the Iron Lung w/Mole Man as a discounted Combo. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  8. I picked it up. I had to have all the Superhero characters. It’s too bad the task with Iron Lung is 1 hour and not 4 hours. I just started the bonus questline so I’m looking forward to unlocking the other tasks.

I still have a lot of donuts for Halloween and increasing every four hours so I can afford it.

  9. Are his voiced quotes the same?

  10. I don’t need him or Moleman’s skin to get enough event currency. I already have several premium skins for Grandpa, but I do have lots of donuts to burn. Hmm. Still on the fence.

  11. This is a NO for me, too. Besides the not-a-full-character and lackluster-visual-tasks parts, I’m saving for Black Friday 😂

    • What’s Black Friday?

      • Day after Thanksgiving EA puts a bunch of premium stuff on sale. Previously it was with rebates on items up for 4 hours only, but might make more than one appearance. Last year they had multiple mystery boxes. Its a chance to clean up cheap on items you missed out on the past. I’m personally hoping to see Milo and Coolsville, Dead Lobster, Cafe Kafka, Globex and the Townhouses. I held off on Miss Mouse and Scratchy’s GF, hoping they’d be back for less Black Friday weekend.

      • Lots of stuff goes on discount. Last year, it was tonnes of mystery boxes. I’m saving up for the same as I don’t see myself spending donuts on Halloween or getting too interested in Christmas events this year.

      • Black Friday is a global “event” coming in late November, when a lot of items are offered at a very discounted price. In real life, that is.
In TSTO, last year a lot of mystery boxes were offered, with varying prices and themes. This site contains all the informations on it 🙂
