Should I Spend Donuts On the Fortune Teller?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Yesterday morning the Treehouse of Horror XXIX teaser hit our games!  Fortune Tellers and Tents arrived to maybe give us a sneak peek at what the next event will bring to TSTO. Of course, by now, we all know that new content means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us.

That limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Fortune Teller to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this predictor of the future to your town…

Character: Fortune Teller
Donut Cost: 90 Donuts

Leaves stores October 3rd

Pros
-Purchasing her will trigger the rest of the teaser questline
-She comes with her own secondary questline

Cons
-Pricey for a stand-alone, one-off character
-Not voiced

In Between
A bunch of you are asking if she’ll help with the Halloween event.  Honestly, I have no idea.  No one knows that except EA.  However, as we’ve seen with recent teasers, usually the teaser character has nothing to do with/no impact on the event itself.  So if I were betting money on it I’d bet that she will NOT help with the event.  But again, no one really knows except EA…

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
I’d pass on her.  Not worth 90 donuts in my opinion.  The questline isn’t life altering (plus I posted the dialogue this morning) and it’s just not worth the purchase.  Save your donuts for the actual Halloween event next week.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m passing.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at her tasks…

Fortune Teller’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Tell Fortunes 1hr $210, 52xp Fortune Teller Tent
Predict Her Own Fortune 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Clean Tarot Cards 8hrs $420, 105xp Fortune Teller Tent
Make a Killing in Sports Betting 12hrs $600, 150xp Outside/Visual
Predict Incorrect Election Results 24hrs $1000, 225xp Fortune Teller Tent

What are your thoughts on the Fortune Teller?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I bought in to fortune teller but she is now stuck waiting on a tropical vacation. Frink finished his vacation… But no job under fortune teller. What an I missing?

  2. Wait so her one hour task is double premium? How did that happen?

  3. She has a 12 hour visual task? I’m gonna go buy her now.

  4. I got her.

I told myself I would buy every character in 2018 that I could, no matter what it was (for donuts). It is hard sometimes. The game is fun when you can buy things you don’t think you’ll like. Lol.

I haven’t been able to buy the cash characters. Maybe I’ll buy a cash character at Halloween. Got the SVT deal last year.

Not sure how well spending all my donuts at Halloween will fair with the Black Friday sale, I think last year the all the mystery box packages was about 8-10,000 donuts. Whoa!

I typically save all year for Black Friday. And not buy anything except the sales.

Hoping to be able to get all the Halloween stuff this year…I didnt get the Burns dragon last year, which I really wanted.

I hope there is something just as really cool this year. Would love to see Burns dragon come back. With all the Harry Potter stuff from last year. That event was so fun.

  5. I bought her. I find fortune tellers interesting.

  6. Fortune Teller

She may not be voiced, but at least she doesn’t have a Task at the Brown House 😂

At least we’ve got some good items in the Vault at Discount (Happy Sumo) worth the Sprinkles 👍

  7. I agree with all of your pros and cons. However the thing that I enjoy most about the game is the characters. A lot of the times I am only interested in the character in the character/building combo. So for me I am more likely to buy a 90 donut one off character, than 150 donut one off character/building.

  8. I was thinking wasn’t a terrible deal, the tent was free, she uses the tent, normally building \ character combo costs 150 donut.

  9. Does her 1 hour task pay double, no mistake in the post?

  10. I see a “Nope!” In my future!

  11. Has anyone else lost their Gypsy Fortune Teller shop since the latest story update? My game has glitched and just shows random characters where it used to be. I have tried all the fixes and contacted EA but they couldn’t help. Any suggestions?

    • Yep, it’s happening to everybody. I’m assuming a patch will probably come for it in the THOH update next week.

    • Yes, I too have the scrambled pixels. I rotated the building, placed down, cleared up. Don’t know if works for everyone else.

    • Necromantic Nightmare

I too have this glitch; if you can turn it sideways it seems to come back into view. I am uncertain if tasks will work again once it’s turned. Sadly, I accidentally put homer on a 12 hour job, so I can’t test it yet.

To grab the invisible building, act like you are going to group store it, and gather up a decent amoout of space around it. You should see a little green square. Turn the building sideways, and it should reappear.

  12. This character offering is a bit of a knife in the back from EA. I was waiting and hoping for two things during Moe’s Ark… the Fantastapottomus and the Esquilax. How can they give us the fortune teller and not the horse with the head of a rabbit and the body… of a rabbit? It’s not fair…lol

  13. Using firefox 62.0.2, the rectangular ads on the left side of this home page have been blocking the first few characters of the page from the top to the bottom, excluding one line. This started about two days ago. There is no problem using Safari. Any suggestions – what’s the best way to report this issue, and to whom?

  14. No way Jose!!!
Not after I bought that horrible banker last year.
    Nope!
Even if she helps, ha-ha! , even if she does,
there will be plenty more premium characters to help with the event once it starts.
This is mystery box material thru and thru.
    Enjoy your time down, everyone!

  15. I support your assessment. I purchased that awful premium mall a few years back believing it would help with the event. Nope! So hold your donuts for the real deal.

  16. Off topic, but why can’t I store the stuff I got in the mini event? Is it part of the latest glitch?

  17. Tracy-1ltwoody920

Is there a reason that this Event will be XXIX?
The game is only ~8 Halloween’s old?

  18. Overpriced. I like though, but will wait to get her in a treasure box! Already Sarah Wiggum was a super rip off at 300 sprinkles. I need my donuts for xmas premium characters mainly as I will have less time to play being away. Will see what Halloween will bring, I am no fortune teller 😹😹😹😹😹😹

  19. I bought her. Put her tent near Sven Golly’s. Had to have a fortune teller!

  20. I bought this character because I am hoping they will be in the next event.
I am a donut farmer so not a big deal on the price. Although I will not buy any whales lol.

  21. If nobody else will ask this question then I will. When is the scheduled release for the official Treehouse of Horror event?

  22. It’s super ridiculous that the character is premium at all. This is basically “pay to play” with the fact that she’s a requirement past the first quest. Hard pass.

  23. I think she’s a bit overpriced, my opinion on a premium stand-alone character honest price is 60-75. However, I bought her and the questline seems funny 😊
    M.Y.T.H. everyone!

  24. I bought her anyway. I like her, I like that episode, I like (fictional) fortune-tellers.

  25. I’m usually always in for a character but this one just isn’t doing it for me. First pass in a long time.

  26. She is too pricey fora character that does not play a significant part in the history of the Simpsons television show. I’m passing on this one.

  27. Thanks Alissa. I was on the fence with this, but i’ll steer clear now

  28. I’m passing and saving my donuts for the halloween event.

  29. Sorry Alissa. This doesn’t need a post Buy it. Just buy it. 90 donuts

    • 90 donuts is a ripoff for a stand alone character, especially a one-off stand alone character. Should be priced at 50-70 donuts.

      • If you’re going that far I would argue no price. I think 90 is fair as a farmer. As someone who spent thousands on this game, I would agree. Should be free.

        • I suddenly understand assholes with more money than sense. I’m more donuts. That’s not a good thing.

        • As a farmer price doesn’t matter…farmers buy ridiculously overpriced whales. SIB posts aren’t written for farmers…

          • You’re 100% correct. I still wait for your posts. I also didn’t buy that last whale. It was overpriced. You’re still my rock.

          • I’m a farmer and I still wait for your posts if I am unsure. I appreciate your hard work and time that it takes to write these up!!!

          • I’m a farmer…but I don’t immediately buy everything. I usually wait for the SIB. This one was an exception, I wanted a fortune teller in my town.

And if it weren’t for my want of a fortune teller, I’d pass. 90 is ridiculous for a one-shot stand-alone character. I’ll admit, though, that I’m crossing my fingers that she’ll help with Halloween.

Oh, and I skipped the whale from the last event. That was just insane.
