Halloween is back in Springfield! Yes, the water is murky, the screen is slightly darker, monsters and minions are roaming our towns…is there anything better than Halloween in our pocket-sized towns? Of course, by now, we all know that a new event means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us. And the 2018 Treehouse of Horrors episode is an even better excuse to drop premium content into our games!
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Xylem to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this alien plant form to your town…

I’d pass on this for now. If you really like it it’ll likely come back in a mystery box soon, so pass for now and save your donuts for better characters.

Had thought this character was an NPC, so I hadn’t bothered as they don’t really interest me, but now I know he’s a full character I will be getting him.

Seriously… I’ve never in nearly four years (late Dec) had to fork over actual cash to finish a quest in this game. Family Guy? The second they did that I uninstalled it. I wasn’t enjoying nearly as much as Tapped Out so it was no big loss, but the blurb in that list doesn’t sound like it’s about our game to me.
Granted the game has plenty of issues but it seems like the reviewer hasn’t touched the game at all. Shallow gameplay? Sure, on the surface. You just send characters on jobs. It gets a lot more involved the deeper you go though. Expected to spend $100s to advance in the game? I’m level 939 and haven’t spent a dime in 4 years. The graphics look pretty much dead on with the show and the game has a 4.7/5 stars on the app store and is labeled with an Editor’s Choice.
I know it’s popular to hate on EA, hell I do it all the time. But this almost seemed like a desperate pick to flesh out their list.
All I could think while reading that was “well,, opinions are like @**holes,,everyone’s got 1”. I didn’t agree with anything out of that assessment. This is not the kind of game where you level up & beat the game. It is a casual,,laid back vibe. It’s not for everyone. I love it,,my sons do not. 😎🤔 & that’s ok.
Perhaps we should wait until the companion character “Phloem” is offered?

My thought too, Groot as a Dr. Seuss character. Two favorites in one. I will most likely pick him up after watching THOH tonight. Oh Boy, oh boy, oh boy!

Not up yet. Zero benefit for the event and doesnt leave until the event ends so it’s low on my priority post list… and should be a low priority for you as well. It’s not going anywhere for a month.
True it has no benefit as such to the event but having the castle & the characters in my Halloween area makes it that bit more special & won’t be the same waiting till the end of the event.
Some great dialogue as well & good animation of the castle.
180 donuts is a lot too shell out but there again so is 300 for a single character, which we have been offered with lately.
Yes but understand when you have things set to timers, so many hrs in a day and people demanding posts about other things…something with a late timer and no benefit gets moved to the back burner.
Im 1 person with a very long lists of posts to write and very little time each day to write them.

Just mentioning that some players may want to buy this package while the event is in progress & in my opinion it is not a bad buy.
I love the Monster Castles, couldn’t wait any longer on a SiB, so I went for it. One of the few non event-related picks I’ve done in the past that I haven’t regretted on any level, including a lot of picks Allissa liked that I ended up being pretty “meh” about. I have a decent amount of donuts though, freemium people who do no mining may have to pass on this total gem… 🙁
p.s. the casle actually has 2 different animations based on what task is being done in it!
