This was a good episode. First time I’ve actually laughed at an episode in a long time! Loved the 45 seconds therapy sessions!
I didn’t know that there would be a “huge” discussion on mandatory reading of “To Kill a Mockingbird”. For me in 1994 it was required to read in 9th grade (plus Catcher in the Rye, & Where the Red Fern Grows [8th grade actually, and Olde Yeller in 8th). 4th grade “required” reading was Trumpet of the Swan & Tuck Everlasting. Things change as time goes on. There are “required” books my kids have to read (starting in 5th grade with Percy Jackson & the Lighting Thief). The current books that’s “required” reading for them is nothing like I was made to read. Diary of Anne Frank is still required in 8th grade, which is good. My son actually was able to see the play after they read the book. It was able to make Anne’s life seem “real” to him after seeing the play (he was never a “strong” reader, but Anne Frank touched his heart).
Maybe “mandatory” in some places, but other places are still trying to ban it…
Homer portrayed as a caring intellectual was a nice change of pace!
