The app store update for Christmas has hit. This update is MASSIVE and it will bring snow to Springfield…
However, Christmas itself is NOT live yet. It’ll go live tomorrow. So don’t freak out that nothing triggers for you… it won’t until tomorrow (the 5th).
Until then just get ready for a holly jolly good time!

This will be a FOUR WEEK event! Much like Christmas events of the past. This event runs from tomorrow, December 5th (10am ET, 1500 GMT) until Wednesday, January 2nd (10am ET, 1500 GMT).
We will see four parts to this event, each part will run 1 week. So the timeline is:
Week 1: 12/5- 12/12
Week 2: 12/12-12/19
Week 3: 12/19-12/26
Week 4: 12/26-1/2

I was going around my town and Notice the end of my screen want farther then it Normally does is this new land we will get or because off the update? If it’s new land it was A lot of land and water land.
I assumed it’d be 4 weeks! It’s good that it is. But being of Christian faith, I’m STILL waiting on a focus on Hanukkah (2 out of the 4 week event?). Heck! It’s only fair! Jesus was actually Jewish. Give some respect to the religion that started the “Christmas” season (& also respecting the Hanukkah season too!!). Sorry if that was disrespectful.

Must be Christmas time when the temperature in oz hits mid 30’s (mid 90s F) and my game is covered in snow. So it goes live in around 12 hours?
I’m in Melbourne Australia; I was just able to update to snow. No event start as yet; But yes snow in an Aussie Summer!

Looks like I’ll be playing on my phone as, even with 6GB free, it’s agonizingly slow on my iPad 3…not to mention if I clear more than 5 buildings that are close together, the game crashes. Time to bring out the magnifying glass to see the gameplay, that or airplay my phone to my 27″ monitor.😬

lol I just finished thanksgiving quests they got boring so I quit playing and they stayed around for me to finish I didn’t care for the animation or the market place so I figured it will go away but nope it stayed until the end

I’m in MST; they usually start at 8 am here. It used to be the stroke of midnight until a few months ago.
Any idea when the event will go live?
You can probably use Mrs Claws, if you didn’t buy her, in the store as a countdown clock.
I’ve noticed in this update, as well as past updates, that your storage reverts back to your phone’s internal storage. I would suggest that you switch it to your SD card (if you have that option available) before tomorrow to avoid the “DRAG of DEATH” that occurs every year with these updates. Merry Simpson’s Christmas to all.
iOS is live.
About a dozen new characters (or skins) visible in the character collection. Very excited for young Marge and young Barney.
how do you see the character collections?
Go to the yellow crossroads icon, bottom right of your screen. Click on it. Then click on the open brown box icon, lower left screen. You’ll then see a gold figurine statue icon on bottom left of screen, next to the brown box icon. Click on the gold icon and once the character groups load just keep scrolling until you see a new character group or more. Click on each one to see the new event characters (they will be grayed out now.)

How do i get lights/decorations for the common houses?
The plunger doesn’t change them.
If they’re offered, buy them for donuts. It’s taken me years to get most of what I do. Hoping I can get Apu’s apartment this year now that I have the building.
In my B game I’ve had the Xmas lights for Apu’s apartment for years; But never bought the building! So there it sits in that game’s inventory – just like the Arnie Pye Stonecutter costume – I don’t like that character!
I tried to buy the lights for his apartment last year as getting it was on my list of things to do when I could get it at a discount (Zoo Gift Shop Mystery Box made it possible, yay), and it wouldn’t let me, it was all grayed out. So in my store but not if that makes sense? I still have some tap ball skins chilling in my inventory for characters I don’t have, myself.
You have to buy the decorations for the houses separately

And my iPad3 has got the black screen of death! Can’t get it to recover!
