Christmas 2018: Turbo Tappin’ Week 1, ‘Twas the Pageant Before Christmas

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Grab your Santa hats and break out the tinsel because it’s Christmas time in Springfield! Yes the annual TSTO Christmas event has arrived in our pocket-sized towns, covering our usual perfect weather towns with a fresh blanket of bright, white, snow!

While the Christmas event, and snow, are annual the structure of this event is anything but!  This is the first major event in Springfield that’s structured like a mini-event.  Christmas consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the Simpsons Christmas Special!

For Act 1 we’re tasked with following Lisa’s Christmas story…all about the Christmas Pageant.  Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for Lisa’s story.  So let’s take a look at the details behind Week 1 and the Turbo Tappin’ Version for Lisa’s Christmas Story…

And this concludes Week 1, Lisa, of the 2018 Christmas Event!

Thoughts on the first week?  How are you doing with the prize track? Thoughts on the event in general?  Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I have no opinion for the moment because this event doesn’t seem to be really good but i think it will get better. And the good part is that the event won’t need a lot of time so it’s a good point. We’ll see the Following stuffs.

  2. For those who have the carousel, does it rotate or is it static? And for anyone who bought the stable, do the animals animate? Thinking of getting it for my zoo. Much thanks!

  3. A definite pro is that there is not much grinding. That explains maybe the prizes are somewhat meh, but i think that’s kinda fair. Also after so many years i think it becomes harder and harder to find new interesting prizes.
I kinda miss the neighbour actions like when you could give presents to your neighbours

  4. Worst Christmas game…ever!

  5. The attention to detail in terms of making each and every item look wintery is most impressive.

  6. So we got coal in our stocking this year. I farmed and farmed and spent over 800 donuts at Halloween. I loved that event. I farmed and farmed in anticipation of Christmas and…bought the circus act. That’s it. No daily tasks. No prizes I’m looking forward to (oooh…a 43rd skin for Lisa! and ANOTHER stage! Meh). No crafting. Hugely disappointing.

  7. I’ve been playing this game for years and this Christmas update is by far the worst and very boring! It seems like EA put very little effort into this update. I liked the updates were you shot elves out of cannons and tapped fun characters. Even the prizes in this event are lame except for the land tokens. I really hope this event gets better because so far I’m very disappointed! 🙁

    • Would have been fun to heave giant snowballs(or snowman cats) with a “winterized” cat-a pult…EA missed an opportunity to have a tie-in to CCL and the Cat Sleigh.⛄️🐱⛄️

  8. Thanks for the update on the first set of quests for the first mini-act Alissa. The Addicts Team info drops are amazingly helpful and much appreciated, even though currently you folks seem to be stuck in the crossfire between EA and some unhappy tappers.
Am I correct in assuming that the Angel Lisa prize is just another skin?
I’ll admit that I have mixed feelings about the event so far. This kind of reminds me of the Itchy and Scratchy event followed by the Poochie Dog Days mini-event. A supposed three full acts followed by what was called a mini-event but was closely tied to the event itself and might as well be called a fourth act. The one big difference is that this event will be much shorter than the other and seems, so far at least, to be offering more skins than full characters and no crafting. I know, I know, it has only started, but that is the feeling so far with the fact that the Crazy Cat Lady got a skin and Angel Lisa is a skin (most likely) and the fact that two premium characters dropped, but where is the free character (even one who only showed up for a single episode I’m looking at you Bort) that comes with every act of a major event?!?! As for the crafting, I usually only find two items that really stand out to me and the rest of the items I find are useless so I am not really missing that. The part that I am not sure about is that this time, if we want some more holiday themed craft-ables a.k.a. decorations, we have to use donuts. The question will be if you will be able to use game currency to buy more of the decorations offered and if it will be permanently unlocked like the cobblestone road or just for the four weeks of the event.
I am glad that EA did add some land tokens to the prizes, I have felt behind since I had a major system glitch that did not allow me access my game or to use my 17 million Krustyland tickets to purchase Krustyland land before EA nuked Krustyland for me. I of course do wish there was more land tokens but that is an issue everyone will always want more of.
I am disappointed so far because though the dialogue has been great between characters, it feels like there is not much of a story being told even though the characters are supposed to be telling a story. Oh well, there are still three acts to go. I guess I’ll have to wait till the last act, pull out a Venn diagram, and then decide if I liked the event or not.
    Have a great holiday season!

  9. I took the survey before the event hit.

Which is your favorite mini event for 2018?

    I was thinking…
    “I hate mini events”

And now we get this. Oh well.
I like the concept of the string of the different characters telling stories. I think it will help us get through 4 weeks.

Mini events feel more of a grind to me more some reason. Especially on the 4th and 5th prize. It is short enough to think it wont be a grind. But long enough to make it so.

I usually roll with whatever EA decides to do. And choose to enjoy it for what it is.

I hope I’ll be able to open some mystery boxes. I’m close to having most everything in the game that’s available…just waiting on some elusive items that may never reappear.

I am looking forward to getting santa’s little helper this year.

  10. Yay, land tokens!

  11. I hit my first item limit – 9,000
Shouldn’t have bought that festive bundle. Lots of junk in it. But the town does look a lot more festive.

  12. Question: It says “Quests” are available until January 2nd!” So do we have until then to finish “week one”?

Patric can still do a calendar. If not, it would be helpful to know how many “Programs” is needed to finish. It would be helpful to know so we can use characters to finish other quests or task (such as sending Lisa to the eliminator).

    • If you do the math…and add up the numbers on Alissa’s post… you can figure it out. But if you need help… Act One… requires 1300 programs divided by 7 days with some float, that is 186 a day…divided by 4 = 46.4 per round… so if you have 10 characters doing “programs” every 4 hours…4 tims a day…you’ll easily hit the mark.

  13. Will event currency ever show up in the daily tasks like it usually does?

  14. David Billington

    P. S. I don’t suppose you clever people have any idea roughly how many land tokens we could pick up during the whole event

  15. Sneaky land tokens!

  16. Is there bonuts after you earn all of the prizes?

  17. David Billington

I have a large UK style Sunday Market / Car Boot Sale area so I think a lot of these Stage 1 prizes will fit in there quite nicely. And I have to say I’m enjoying the less frenetic style and pace so far. It’s nice to know I don’t have to feel like a slave to my game as I have done in previous years

    • I also like the pageant prizes…unlike most Christmas stuff, these prizes can stay in my Springfield after the event and will be a wonderful addition to the County Fair/Taste of Springfiels area.👍😁

  18. 2nd Opinion

Twas the Pageant Before Christmas (Part 1) ♥️ it thank you TSTO Staff for quickly getting Event info posted 👍

Character Dialogue is clever / funny
Prizes don’t take up space (they’re not huge)
Free Land Tokens (3 of them)
Easy Event (no effort needed to obtain everything)
No Grind / No Crafting required
Easily Kem Farm daily (🍩 ‘s will be spent on cool stuff)
Plenty of choice Premiums (50 🍩 Bundles are awesome)

    Take Note 🤷🏼‍♂️

That era of Premium Characters / Buildings as Event Prizes has left the Game years ago (I’ve accepted it, that’s why I Kem Farm to use sprinkles towards the goods)

Neighboreeno visiting gone (I’m fine with that, because visiting makes the Game crash, I miss it but I don’t miss the lag)

I respect everyone’s right to complain / criticize ….. I just thought I’d never seen such a high level of complaining since Pagan – Wiccan Christmas from 2016 (lol, come on, if you were Tapping back then? holy schlitz there were Tappers who left the Game over ‘that Event’, while those more knowledgeable about ‘Pagan – Wiccan’ were kinda insulted by EA’s epic fails)

    😂 🦌🎄⛄ jingle jangle catbox mangle 😹

    • I joined the game on the last day of Halloween last year so I was spoiled with the previous Christmas as my first big event. What was so bad about the pagan Christmas? Was it as bad as Bart royale?

      • The pagen event was awesome, but religious folk didn’t like the theme for xmas. But it was great because the next xmas they made it all about religion, many religions.

    • I can assure you a lot of players will be leaving this time as well. If this is now the norm & of course it may be just a one off, but if it is going to be then what a dull game it will become.
I just hope EA haven’t given up on us yet.
I can see what’s happened here, this is the result of so many tappers moaning about long, grinding events. Well done, you have got your way.
Let’s hope we can find some middle ground in the future & keep the majority happy.

  19. I really hope this event gets better.
    My current opinion:

    https://imgur.com/a/v98PIBy

    • 😂

    • I wasn’t totally sold on this until I found out about the land tokens. Given the monumental scale of the Halloween event this is bound to feel like a bit of an anti climax, I must admit I preferred last year’s Christmas theme with the alien invasion, I am a little biased though as Kang and Kodos are 2 of my favourite characters.

  20. I just deleted the a Game and did another install. This cleared the problem of the game not continuing but means I just lost another half hour of my life waiting for the humongous download😍🇬🇧

  21. Now we know we are getting land tokens this event I’m a happy tapper! 😍

Christmas should be easy going as it’s a busy time of year. 4 mini events in one purr fect!
    👌🐱

  22. Thank for this post Alissa. Have just finished part 1 and got the chestnut carts but part 2 has not started. When l press the quest icon it just states “you have completed this part of the story”🤔

  23. Only a week how will I get all the prizes

  24. Pro: a break from the grind of other events.
    Con: “Meh” prizes so far…

  25. I will always love Tapped Out, but I too was looking forward to a major event. Ah well!

  26. TallSpiderCandy

I just earned the cart 🙂 Big fan of the snow, look forward to it every year (in my game, not real life lol) Thanks Addicts for all u do and Happy Holidays to each of u and your Families! ❄️☃️❄️

  27. Robert Caragliano

Well so far this feels like a mini event to me with the way it is set up but lets see if it picks up. I am hoping that i am wrong and it gets more fun but not feeling it yet. Christmas event is my favorite to do.

  28. Stefano Bettega

Don’t know if it happened only to me, but Baron Burn’s water mansion (sorry I play in Italian, don’t know if this is the correct name) is corrupted and as image I find a link to a website, written as seen in a mirror

  29. There is land tokens….now find another reason to hate on this event. I’ll listen 😪

  30. Thanks for this post Alissa! ❤
    I find this part something lackluster-y 🙄
