Grab your Santa hats and break out the tinsel because it’s Christmas time in Springfield! Yes the annual TSTO Christmas event has arrived in our pocket-sized towns, covering our usual perfect weather towns with a fresh blanket of bright, white, snow! Of course, by now, we all know that a new event means a new excuse for EA to fill our stores with limited-time premium items to tempt us.
As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon. But don’t sweat it! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Ice Fishing Shack and Young Barney to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this flashback combo to your town…
Building/Decoration: Ice Fishing Shack
Character: Young Barney
Donut Cost: 175 Donuts
Size: 8×8
Earns: Nothing (I’m hoping this is corrected, that’s A LOT of donuts for no bonus %)
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +200
Can Be Placed:grass|pavement|dirt
Leaves stores December 12th
Pros
-Helps with the event, earns a premium rate
-Voiced (of course, it’s Barney)
-Will use the Ice Fishing Shack for Tasks, including a nicely animated one
Cons
-Will only help with Week 2 of the event, no help for weeks 3 and 4
-Pricey considering the Shack doesn’t earn anything
Final Thought
Premium:
If you’re collecting the young characters, obviously go for it with Barney. But I’m pretty disappointed, even by premium standards, that you’re paying 175 donuts for a combo and the building/decoration doesn’t earn anything. I’d say this is a premium pass unless they fix that earning issue.
Freemium:
I’d pass. You’re better off spending your donuts on Young Marge.
Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I already picked it up (what can I say, I’m collecting them). But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

What?! I bought (before this post went up) assuming the shack either earned money or bonus %. Wow, what a rip off for the amount of donuts spent. Total FAIL.
Good point that the ice fishing shack doesn’t earn anything. That’s dumb. I still got him. But that’s lame.
I bought young Marge without a second thought, but I have no real attachment to young Barney, and this just confirms that I should pass.

Thanks a lot Alissa! I decided to skip all character bundles, and Young Barney is no exception (the “zero gain” of the shack is frankly ludicrous, at that price).
Actually, it’s no deal for me again… this event, it doesn’t need the boost, and I enjoy playing it in such relaxed manner… what is throwing me off with all the premiums is that they don’t earn any %bonus. The latest Thanksgiving event was so rich with the bonuses, that I bought almost everyone. At least everyone, that offered the bonus.
This Xmas event, I haven’t bought 1 single building or premium character… only the mystery box…
They all look very nice… for future mystery boxes…
EA needs to have a reality check with those prices and no %bonus attached to anything…

Ice Fishing Shack and Young Barney
Easily spent the Sprinkles (I Kem Farmed back those 175 🍩’s in 2 Days), although I agree that price is a tad steep (interesting that Young Marge is a better priced Gil Deal). Tasks at the Shack, but only time will tell if EA turns said Shack into a Bonus % booster (or something else) post Event.

Could not pass! It’s in my Canadian blood. Been ice fishing almost every year for two decades. January 11th can’t come soon enough!
Sorry, this is off topic. My daily task today was to send Springfielders to get milk at the KEM. I sent more than 100 of my characters there. When time was up, I clicked on the KEM, and everything seemed normal. They all came out of the store, EXCEPT, they all went back in the KEM. I went to my neighbors, and when I returned, there was the pile of thumbs up showing I completed the task. I clicked on it again, and sure enough, they all came out of the KEM, and then back in again. It’s seems like it’s Groundhog Day in Springfield. I’m stuck in this endless cycle, now with a bad lag. Before I call EA, any suggestions to get unstuck?
UPDATE: I stored my KEM, and everything seemed to be back to normal.. and I completed my final task for the stage. I placed the stage and then BAM! I got knocked out of the game. I keep getting the Bart screen telling me I can’t connect to the server. Is it me, or is anyone else having these bugs in their game?

Store the KEM. Then bring it back out. That will fix it.
My game did that the week before the THoH event and was printing donuts, cash, and bonus percentage. 🙂
Looks like no end of possible characters. After all the teen versions, we can get younger (Bart’s age) version of all the characters, then the rug rats versions. Then we can get Grampa’s age versions of all the characters.
Young Barney is like Old Barney but with no belly and less burping love it where’s Santa Little Helper???

Not a second thought… If we are going to have multiples of the same characters wandering around…from different space/times…why not young Barney? Boom. Done. Donuts spent.
I’ve been playing the Family Guy game for as long as I’ve been playing TSTO (since the start of 2017 – though I find TSTO far superior). I have way too many Peter Griffins walking around my town. Would prefer not to go down that path with the Simpson family.
Don’t mind the younger characters. Grabbed Homer & Marge & tempted by young Barney & Artie….but at 175 donuts I won’t be buying them & don’t really feel like I am missing out on anything since they are characters I already have.
Now if they had some kind of big joint visual prom task or something, that would be different…but I don’t believe that is the case.
Angel Lisa I’m a little less thrilled about. But, whatevs. If that’s the way we are going I will learn to love it 🙂
We’ll talk about this on Saturday on Addicts Live. But, I think Angel Lisa is just, plain creepy. She will likely go into storage with the Funzos.
Yup, mine too…so many characters at this point, she is unnecessary. All the “creepfest” characters are now stored where they can’t terrorize my other residents. Am I giving this too much thought? You betcha! 😆
