Should I Spend Donuts On the Box Factory?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

We’re a few days into 2019 and it’s time for our first update of the year!  Not Yet Spring Cleaning, the latest mini-event in Springfield, is full of content we’ve been asking for! (Springfield U, Alice Glick, Land Tokens..to say the least!) And of course, an all-new mini-event provides a great excuse for EA to throw premium content at us!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Box Factory to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Springfield classic to your town…

Pros
-Animated when in use, lights on
-Comes with a 2 part questline
-Classic building
-A permanent 4hr premium task for Martin, Run Away From Change.

Cons
-Pricey for what it is/does
-Pretty generic looking

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
This is a premium “on the fence” item for me.  It’s a classic building, but at that price tag, I think it’s overpriced.  While it’s nice that it has a permanent task for Martin, I do think it’s better to wait on this until it comes back at a discounted price.

Freemium:
I’d pass and wait for this to come back at a big discount.  It’s too pricey, in my opinion, for what it is/does.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I already picked it up.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the questline it comes with…

No Assembly Required Pt. 1
Skinner starts

Skinner: Martin, since you’ve sacrificed your social life to get the best grades in class, I’m letting you pick the class trip.
Martin: Wow, such a sacred educational responsibility.
Bart: Martin, buddy! Want to play naive astronauts and hostile aliens with me at recess? Say, have I ever told you how much I’ve wanted to visit a real space ship factory?
Milhouse: Martin, take any snack from my lunch! Y’know, I hear the video game studio is nice this time of year…
Martin: Why waste our field trip on such high tech endeavors when we can witness the old time charm of the Box Factory!
Bart And Milhouse: *groans*
Make Martin Lead a Class Field Trip- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

No Assembly Required Pt. 2
Bart starts

Bart: Whoa! Look at all these drones! I bet I can use one to prank Homer.
Martin: What’s happened to all the history? The elegant simplicity of folding generic boxes by hand?!
Milhouse: Look at me! I’m a package being delivered.
Skinner: Bart! Stop trying to send Milhouse away with free two-day delivery!
Martin: Hell is empty, and all the demons are here.
Make Martin Run Away from Change- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Skinner: Well students, in order to justify this as educational, I have to give everyone a grade — A’s all around! Everyone, except Martin that is. Since he ran away he’s getting an incomplete and failing this assignment.
Martin: But that will ruin my perfect GPA! I’ll never be able to go on after this!
Nelson: Haw-Haw!

What are your thoughts on the Box Factory?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I’d like this one more if they’d included the dreary manager who ran the tour in the episode…

  2. Anybody…any indications of a new event tomorrow?

    • Not that I’m aware of.

      • Sorry Alissa…another week left, wasn’t paying attention to the end date…my bad.🤪

        • You also freaked me out….lol

          • Sorry Sandy… just getting a little antsy for a new event. Finished this one on Sunday and was thinking it was only a week long, like the 4 part Christmas minis. Should have paid more attention, or at least checked the “expiration date” on the stuff in the store. Guess I’ll just take a break for a few days and play a bit of Monkey Wrench (a word game) in the app store. At least I’ll be improving my vocabulary…😆🤷‍♀️.

  3. Another easy pass on a nondescript square box.
I did find a great place for the Original Brown House, tho…it’s become part of the Staff Housing at Rommelwood. (Plenty of kids there for snacks) 😁

    • I love the way your brain works…
But yes…it was a pass for me. As imaginative as I can be, I was flummoxed as to “why would I want this again?”

      • Yup, I pretty much got rid of my factory district entirely…none of them really added much to the town (except the slide factory…it was kinda fun and may come back someday).👍😁
I thought about pulling out the abandoned/closed factory to go with this, but then it was like..nahhh…just more stuff taking up space. 🙄

  4. Box Factory

If I pass? It’s because I have other Character Building Combos of interest …. and I’m being more choosey about what takes up space in my Springfield (I can afford to spend the 🍩 ‘s, I just agree that this will be in a Mystery Box). 🤷‍♂️

  5. I bought it, I just wish there was a conveyor belt coming out one side carrying a box topped by a certain red cap. 😁

  6. I’d only consider it if it came with the owner of the box factory 😉

  7. Somethings are best left in the show and our memories. Pretty easy pass.

  8. Since my brain still hurts from the previous post, now is the perfect time to buy a box factory so that I can sit in a box..all by myself..anytime I want.starting now..🗳🥊

  9. MY BOY’S A BOX! DAMN YOU……A BOX!!!!!!

  10. Thanks a lot Alissa! I think I’ll pass, there no need to think… outside the box 😂

  11. My brother in law’s mom works in an honest-to-god box factory so this was a must-get for me.

  12. I’ll take a high tech cardboard folding hard pass on this.

  13. Hi Alissa! I just want to say THANK YOU for every column you write that starts with a “Should I buy…” It’s always so tempting to immediately jump on anything new that hits the store, but, so much better to wait for you to give the item the full pros/cons break down. Saves lots of donuts, and buyer’s regret for buying something that essentially isn’t going to benefit me after the event. I appreciate all that you and the other addicts do to make this game so much more fun to play! Thanks again!

  14. I think 65 is just the new standard for premium buildings like 150 is for characters.
