State of Despair Prize Breakdown: Governor Mary Bailey

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

After a week hiatus, we finally have some new content in Springfield!  A new mini-event went live in our games…State of Despair.   New event means new prizes to earn and new prizes mean it’s time for everyone’s favorite prize breakdown posts!

Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the parts of the State of Mine questline, you’ll have to earn  via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.

So let’s take a look at the fifth, and final, prize, Governor Mary Bailey…

How You Get it:
State of Mine Pt. 5
Make Springfield Celebrate- x3. 8hrs
Collect State Pasta- x350.

Once complete you’ll unlock Governor Bailey…

And she’s part of the Civil Servants Character Collection…

WDTCF: Her first appearance was “Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish” S2,E4, BUT she’s really in this because (like most items in this event) she was in”Bart vs. Lisa vs. The Third Grade” S14 E3.  In fact, her “Consider New State Flag” task is derived from that episode.
Fun Fact: According to the Big Book of Simpsons Knowledge, Governor Bailey is named after Mary Bailey from It’s A Wonderful Life, only the best movie ever made.

Governor Bailey does come with her own questline, here’s a look at it now…

Public Servant Pt. 1
Gov. Bailey starts

Governor Mary Bailey: Now that I’m, ahem, retired, I need to give back to my community. Perhaps with a 400-page ego boost – I mean book.
Burns: I can’t believe you beat me in that election. My qualifications were impeccable: I’m a rich, old, white man!
Governor Mary Bailey: Yet I won. Thanks to my positive message and convincing platform! And a three-eyed fish.
Make Governor Mary Bailey Brag About Winning the Election- 1hr, Earns $70, 17xp

Public Servant Pt. 2
Gov. Bailey starts

Governor Mary Bailey: Hello, fellow Springfielder! How can I improve your day? Anything you please!
Moe:…Anything?
Governor Mary Bailey: That’s not ominous at all.
Moe: I need you to help me launder-
Governor Mary Bailey: Laundry! Alright. A little demeaning but yes, I can do it.
Moe: You didn’t let me finish. Launder money. I need you to launder money.
Governor Mary Bailey: Oh, thank God, that’s much more up my alley. Plus I don’t have to get all damp.
Moe: You’ve clearly never been inside my bar.
Make Governor Mary Bailey Launder Money- 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp

Public Servant Pt. 3
Gov. Bailey starts

Governor Mary Bailey: I can’t just sit around being a disgraced public figure forever. I need a new look!
Julio: Did somebody say makeover?
Governor Mary Bailey:No, I said new look.
Hans Moleman: I said makeover.
Julio: Today is the first real day of your life.
Hans Moleman: It is? So late…
Lisa: Former Governor Bailey, I have some suggestions on how you can improve your image. Have you ever considered pairing a suit jacket with a… pant?
Governor Mary Bailey:Oh my! *faints*
Make Governor Mary Bailey Get Public Image Advice- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp

Public Servant Pt. 4
Gov. Bailey starts

Governor Mary Bailey: So, little girl, how do I buy the love of the common man?
Lisa: You don’t buy it! You just give them what they want.
Governor Mary Bailey: Money!
Make Governor Mary Bailey Give Money Away- 12hrs, Earns $475, 100xp

Public Servant Pt. 5
Gov. Bailey starts

Governor Mary Bailey: Your daughter really helped me turn things around. I can’t believe I’ve been wearing my skirt backwards all this time!
Marge: She inherited a good eye for style. You don’t just stumble upon as good a look as a strapless dress and pearls by accident.
Governor Mary Bailey: There’s an election coming up and Mr. Burns plans to run. And I’m the hip, youthful upstart who will beat him. Now let’s go viral! I’m assuming that’s some kind of… dance?
Marge: Why don’t we start with an ad?
Make Governor Mary Bailey Record a Political Ad- 24hrs, Earns $600, 150xp
Governor Mary Bailey: This Internet thing is a passing fad. I prefer timeless advertising tricks like skywriting and 1-800-COLLECT-sponsored two-part mystery episodes. I guess I could host a town hall and actually interact with my constituents. Just kidding. I’ll pay Russia to swing the election results.

And here’s a look at her tasks…

Governor Bailey’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length  Earns Location
Brag About Winning the Election 1hr $70, 17xp Power Plant
Get Public Image Advice 4hrs $175, 45xp Simpson House
Launder Money 8hrs $275, 70xp Moe’s
Consider New State Flags 8hrs $275, 70xp Outside/Visual

Record a Political Ad 24hrs $600, 150xp Outside/Visual

  1. I got her on Wednesday. I really like her as a character and I’ve wanted her to appear since the Buck Stops Here event last year. I really appreciate her visual tasks are 8 and 24 hours since 24 hour visuals are rare though it did irritate me that the visuals were locked until you reached part 5 of her questline which takes at least 23 hours to get to (excluding waiting for the last 10% of the task time left to rush the quests for free) but they were worth it IMO. I like her 8 hour task more than her 24 hour task mainly because I find it weirdly amusing to seeing her faint at the learn to fart flag. 😂

  2. Governor Mary Bailey

Always thankful for a new Character (and hey it’s a Women in the Civil Servants section!) I already guessed she’s gone rogue since this Character did not come with a Building. Taking a nice break from TSTO waiting for the next Event (got plenty of sprinkles if EA wants to drop something for St Patrick’s).

“Since there’s no room in the prisons you came from, I’m releasing you all to a garbage barge where you will bareknuckle-box until one of you emerges as king of your floating hell.” 😀

  4. A bit of topic but, I have the little lady justice in my vault this week! With a donut rebate, wasnt going to buy it but find it annoying anyway.
Has the community center with jasper, or the lotto’n’liquor ever been in a vault? Have never seen them and i am wary of buying them at full price then seeing them with a rebate soon after.

    • If you have the Juvenile Courthouse and Judge Harm you can put the Little Lady Justice or 2 outside of the courthouse with the one that is already there. The Community Centre and Lotto ‘N’ Liquor are not in the vault at all but LNL might be discounted or mystery boxed if EA releases a St. Patrick’s Day update next week since it was available in a mystery box during last year’s St. Pats update.

  5. Yippee! She has a 24 hr visual task…pretty rare these days.😁

  6. “…And dance by the light of the moon”

    • LOL…another fan of IAWL. Still my favorite Christmas movie of all time.

    • I dunno why, but my most quotable line from that is… “I wish I had a million dollars….Hot DOG!” Something about the way George Bailey says hot dog makes me smile every time lol

Although “You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary. ” is probably one of my favorite lines/scenes ever from a movie.

      • I always loved: Mary “Bread that this house may never know hunger. Salt that life may always have flavor.” George “And wine, that joy and prosperity may reign forever! Enter the Martini castle.”

      • My favorite line is a very subtle line. Mary is caught in the hydrangea bush, and George is considering his options. Mary moves, and yells “Ouch! Ooh..”, and George says “Gesundheit.”

  7. Thanks a lot Alissa! I’m currently at the 5th and last part ^-^ very funny!
