Yearbook Mystery Box

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Wowsers the latest mini-event to hit Springfield brought us the ultimate Mystery Box!  With over 700 items (737 at my count), the Yearbook Mystery Box is the largest single Mystery Box to ever hit our pocket-sized towns.

This isn’t your ordinary Mystery Box.  No, this is a premium box full of almost every limited-time (and not so limited-time) premium item and prize to ever hit Springfield.  It’s pretty insane.

Because this box is different than a standard Mystery Box I’m going to treat this post different than the standard Mystery Box post.  For starters, this is going up shortly after the event hit our games because I know this is the info you’re all really wanted to know.  And I’m going to breakdown what’s inside, as well as give you some tips to get what you really want in Springfield.  So let’s take a look…

This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…30 donuts is a steal for this stuff!

And…because there are items that are not unique in Springfield, everyone will see a Mystery Box in their game.

At the premise, this is like your basic Mystery Box.  Spend 30 donuts and have a shot at a variety of premium characters, skins, decorations, and buildings from events of the past!  30 Donuts is equal to or less than the initial value for each item (unless they were initially prizes, in that case, they were originally free)

What’s different about this box is it only shows 5 items at a time.  Meaning you have a 20% chance to get one of the items 5 items you see in your box at any given time.

How do you see new items appear?  Hit the Blue Refresh Button…

and your 5 Mystery Box Prizes will change to show 5 different prizes…

(Not that I need to explain but, yes, these are screenshots from two different games.  I initially was in my main Springfield for the first screenshot.  Then jump to my lower level game to check out the returning content and just took a MB screenshot from there)

So the best strategy for the Mystery Box is to refresh your box until you see 5 items you like and/or want.  Then go for it.  Or at the very least, make sure there’s something you want in that group of 5 before trying.

It’s also important to note, yes there’s the Donut Truck, Donut Boat and Donut store in the box.  THEY DO NOT AWARD FREE DONUTS.  They’re just decorations/buildings from previous Donut Days.  There are NO FREE Donuts in this box.

Also, yes you may have screens that only show 1 or two items.

And, because there are some items that are not unique (like the Whale) your box shouldn’t disappear from your game..even if you think you have everything.  At least not until the mini-event ends.

Yearbook Mystery Box Leaves Games on March 26th
(on 3/14 an app store update was released, Classless reunion Patch 1, that removed the timer from the game box. FWIW there never was an official end date written in the files for the Box (before or after the patch).  So no telling if this will stick around after the 26th or not.

And now, here’s what you can win…

Listen, there are 737 items.  I’m not doing my normal Mystery Box Breakdown.  I’ve got a full list in Alphabetical Order of what’s in the box, and (if available) i’ve linked it to the SIB post or prize post so you can see more details.  If you want to know what it is/does or how much it originally cost click that link.

Listwise, it appears in the files with other names and in some case without indicating characters coming with them (if they do).  I tried to go from memory to indicate characters, but I know I missed a bunch.  If it came with a character before it’ll come with it again. Go by the pictures you see in the box, not my list.  My list is just so you know every possible item available.

  1. I lucked out and after a couple of refreshes, I got a selection with three characters including the one I really wanted: Sarah Wiggum. 120 donuts later and I have CONRAD and Quinn, Rancho Relaxo and Don, Five Alarm Chili Stand and finally Sarah Wiggum. Three characters for 120 donuts sounds great to me

  2. Can anyone confirm if Sgt. Skinner comes with the WWII tank or not? I just got it aligned with a solid 5 item selection but only saw the tank listed (but his name is listed above in this post). Thanks!

  4. I’ve been looking at the box a while, refreshing threw the box quite a few time and noticed a recurring thing: There are 5 cycles. They repeat in their own rate. Meaning you can’t get everything you want in one box, but you can anticipate how often you have to refresh to get what you want.

  6. Hi Alissa. I finally got my donut count to 180 (Thank you kem farming and completing the monorail prizes and daily challenges.) and I gave the mystery box a shot. I had to cycle through the prizes about 40 times to get a good bonus item aligned with one of the whales and I got mount carlmore on the first pick and the whale on the second one. That’s a 10% bonus for only 60 donuts! I’m now working back to 150 to guarantee getting the three eyed whale, hopefully with the Mayflower. It’s important to note that the 5 positions have a different number of prizes so you can work to align two or three desirable items. Also, you can collect up to all 5 if you don’t refresh the prizes after you select some, even if you go back to playing and return to the mystery box at a later time.)

  7. Has anyone else noticed the Beach House leave the Yearbook Mystery Box, after you get the first one? I wonder whether there’s a ‘limit of 1’ that you can purchase from the Yearbook, for 30 donuts. I closed out of the game entirely and went back into the Mystery Box, but the Beach House *still* seems to be gone. As it’s not a limit=1 item (but is limit=5), I had hoped it would show back up in the Mystery Box after I purchased the first one this morning.

  8. Anyone know what was in the whaking day bundle? I just got it in the box, and *if* I located everything in my storage for it, my percentage went up 10.75 for the one bundle … just looking to confirm what was in it

    Like

    • after further searching I was able to find the Should I buy it, and it does come with 10.75% bonus … not a bad bundle if you can get it from the box … I also saw the electric cars are like 5% or something like that too as I was searching around … next time I see them I may go for em ….

also the tourist pack is 3 playable characters for anyone reading and looking for tips on good scores …

im open for items such as the ones i listed that may be WAY more then they seem

      • Not only the bonus but also essentially 3 income earning “buildings”. At only 30 donuts, this could easily be the best value in the entire box. (Lumpy was a surprise, though. Good thing he doesn’t terrorize the other characters.)

  9. So maybe I’m overthinking this but has anyone noticed there is no limited time notice at the bottom of the button? It just say New! Anyone think this will be around for a while not just the remaining 5 days?

    • I was wondering the same thing

      • When you go to “The Store” the icon A Classless Reunion shows “5d 17h…” hitting the icon gets you to 3 other icons, 2 showing the same time. So I assume (maybe incorrectly) the Yearbook Mystery Box will also be limited by that time.It could be less, it could be more.

  11. Hello all! This event is great in my opinion. I’m a freemium player and so I have been saving my free donuts with the intention of getting Barney’s Bowlarama + Barney.

However, I lucked out and managed to get it for only 30 donuts! Later, managed to also get the Duff Brewery collection, and Springfield Drive-In! I’m going to try getting Otto & his bus next. But even if I don’t get him, I already think I’m one lucky freemium player.

    * * * *
Anyway, here’s a little tip for peeps with limited donuts, I noticed that the first two items in the mystery box remains the same, but the last three rotate. (I could be wrong about the rotation… but it seemed to work for me)

So, if you want something from a particular box (Let’s call it the Chosen Box) and want to maximize your chances of getting said item, try hitting refresh to cycle through the entire collection of things. Then, when you see at least three items that you don’t mind getting in that Chosen box, try your luck.

That way, at least you get 60% chance of getting something you don’t mind spending donuts on. It’s time consuming, but that’s how I maximized my chances of getting the things I wanted. Success not guaranteed of course.

    • This has probably been covered in this thread someplace. If not, it’s “out there” on other sites. This mystery box isn’t entirely mysterious. All five slots rotate. If you see an item in slot 1, it will always appear in slot 1. And always in the same order. Randomness appears as you may have a different number of items in each slot – the wheels are turning at different speeds. But there is no randomness within a slot.

  13. Huh, this is weird — I picked up several items from the box and now the 8-hour task for Ginger Flanders and Amber Simpson (drink at Moe’s) is just gone. One of the items I got was Moe’s House; any chance that nuked the task until I complete the questline? The other notable things I remember getting were Guy Incognito, Sarah Wiggum, Jasper and Duff Gardens. I don’t see any of those deleting their 8-hour task.

    Like

    • Oh, Vicious Monkeys have also lost their 8-hour task (drink at Moe’s). I’m really hoping those return when I finish all the questlines have opened from the mystery box.

  15. So i got Blackbeard. Nice, love adding characters. But his ship is not in the mysterybox. So now his storyline wuest is stuck without it. Which is really annoying to an ocd-er like me.

I had Lyle Lanley wondering my town with no tasks since I started playing so I’m used to unfinished tasks. Thanks to the yearbook, I now have 196 quests in progress!

    • I contacted EA about Blackbeard being stuck on his task without the Pirate Ghost Ship and they added the ship to my inventory. They thought it should have come with it, so I hope they fix it for everyone.

  16. After spending nearly 2000 donuts on the box, I finally got all the characters there (not skins, just the characters). Plus items that got in the way trying to get the characters. Well, EA knows how to make us spend money on donuts.

    • I have opened up 150 boxes and I think I have gotten just about all of the characters from the box I needed (79 of em) …. now to go through and find things that look decent or that could give me good percentage boost any recommendations?

  18. I’ve searched everyone and cannot find any answers, so hoping for some here. I have received Little Helper Ralph from the box and i’m working through the questline. I’m stuck on part 3, “Make Little Helper Ralph Jam the assembly line”. The task appears, but i cannot start it:

It looks like i need the Toy Workshop to be able to send Ralph there, but i don’t have it. Is it possible to get the workshop now or will this quest just be stuck in limbo forever?

    Thanks for any help

    Like

    • The assembly line is connected to the little helper Ralph costume. Does your Ralph have the costume on him? I once hid it to get Ralph free and the costume went back to inventory together with the building. Try finding the costume in your inventory and maybe it will show you the possibility to build the assembly line.

  19. A little bummed that it seems like Teleporters Zeta and Theta aren’t offered if you already have Alpha and Omega, and once again the Cauldron isn’t offered if you already have Witch Marge… but overall I’ve added more than 100% to my bonus and at least 15 premium characters to my Springfield, so I’ll take it!

My favorite surprise is Chippy. Thought he’d be just another npc but I just noticed he earns 💰. A pile of cash was floating above him. It was over $6000.00. Also think he is cute with his flipping about.

  22. I don’t know if it has been mentioned yet, but the items rotate like a slot machine. If you have a lot of patience, you can use this to minimize the number of things you don’t want with each attempt.
