Yearbook Mystery Box

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Wowsers the latest mini-event to hit Springfield brought us the ultimate Mystery Box!  With over 700 items (737 at my count), the Yearbook Mystery Box is the largest single Mystery Box to ever hit our pocket-sized towns.

This isn’t your ordinary Mystery Box.  No, this is a premium box full of almost every limited-time (and not so limited-time) premium item and prize to ever hit Springfield.  It’s pretty insane.

Because this box is different than a standard Mystery Box I’m going to treat this post different than the standard Mystery Box post.  For starters, this is going up shortly after the event hit our games because I know this is the info you’re all really wanted to know.  And I’m going to breakdown what’s inside, as well as give you some tips to get what you really want in Springfield.  So let’s take a look…

Update:  Since the writing of this post the Mystery Box can be found in the Premium Section of your Store.  Just click the Homer Buddha Icon….

This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…30 donuts is a steal for this stuff!

And…because there are items that are not unique in Springfield, everyone will see a Mystery Box in their game.

At the premise, this is like your basic Mystery Box.  Spend 30 donuts and have a shot at a variety of premium characters, skins, decorations, and buildings from events of the past!  30 Donuts is equal to or less than the initial value for each item (unless they were initially prizes, in that case, they were originally free)

What’s different about this box is it only shows 5 items at a time.  Meaning you have a 20% chance to get one of the items 5 items you see in your box at any given time.

How do you see new items appear?  Hit the Blue Refresh Button…

and your 5 Mystery Box Prizes will change to show 5 different prizes…

(Not that I need to explain but, yes, these are screenshots from two different games.  I initially was in my main Springfield for the first screenshot.  Then jump to my lower level game to check out the returning content and just took a MB screenshot from there)

So the best strategy for the Mystery Box is to refresh your box until you see 5 items you like and/or want.  Then go for it.  Or at the very least, make sure there’s something you want in that group of 5 before trying.

It’s also important to note, yes there’s the Donut Truck, Donut Boat and Donut store in the box.  THEY DO NOT AWARD FREE DONUTS.  They’re just decorations/buildings from previous Donut Days.  There are NO FREE Donuts in this box.

Also, yes you may have screens that only show 1 or two items.

And, because there are some items that are not unique (like the Whale) your box shouldn’t disappear from your game..even if you think you have everything.  At least not until the mini-event ends.

Yearbook Mystery Box Leaves Games on March 26th
(on 3/14 an app store update was released, Classless reunion Patch 1, that removed the timer from the game box. FWIW there never was an official end date written in the files for the Box (before or after the patch).  So no telling if this will stick around after the 26th or not.

And now, here’s what you can win…

Listen, there are 737 items.  I’m not doing my normal Mystery Box Breakdown.  I’ve got a full list in Alphabetical Order of what’s in the box, and (if available) i’ve linked it to the SIB post or prize post so you can see more details.  If you want to know what it is/does or how much it originally cost click that link.

Listwise, it appears in the files with other names and in some case without indicating characters coming with them (if they do).  I tried to go from memory to indicate characters, but I know I missed a bunch.  If it came with a character before it’ll come with it again. Go by the pictures you see in the box, not my list.  My list is just so you know every possible item available.

30 donuts is a fantastic steal for a lot of these items.

And that’s it my friends!  The details on the Ballot Box Mystery Box….

What are your thoughts on the Mystery Box? Have you tried it yet? What have you won so far? What do you hope to get? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

416 responses to “Yearbook Mystery Box

  1. I don’t have the yearbook under my Homer Buddha. Is it possible I have all the items already and my Yearbook is removed? I believe I have nearly all available items and characters that could be purchased by donuts at this point so it would make sense I guess if they remove it if you own everything already.

  2. Quick question that i have not seen asked in these comments.

If i get a skin (costume) fromt he Mystery Box that is for a Premium character, who i don’t yet own, what happens?

For example. I don’t yet own Barney but i win the Astronaut Barney costume. Do i

    a) Get Barney as well
    b) The skin is placed in the inventory until i get Barney
    c) The skin doesn’t show anywhere in my game until Barney is unlocked at which point the skin also unlocks automatically?

  3. Is the GGR finally in the yearbook or not yet?🥺

  4. I purchased beer-n-brawl+lurleen from the limited time option in the taven event and then later realized it was part of the yearbook. Other than searching the above list, is there a way (in game) to know if something is also in my yearbook? I’m newish so there are hundreds of items in there so either way it seems like I have to do some research on limited time items but just wondering if I’m missing an easier method?

Also, has anything ever been added to the yearbook since it originally rolled out?

    • There are no in game clues about what’s in the Yearbook box and also available elsewhere in game. The only way is really to search the list above, or checkout a rundown post on an event. Usually I * returning items that are also available in the Yearbook.

      • Super helpful, thank you! Overwhelmed by all the valuable info on this site, so thank you for all the help and insight!

  5. My box has been gone for two days now. Oh well, just farming donuts now I guess

  6. Finally finished getting everything. Kind of a strange feeling after working on this for a year+.

  7. For some reason the screen for this mega mystery box disappeared after I got the last item I didn’t have, when the event was still running. I was also hoping to complete character sets from older events I missed completely bc I wasn’t playing then but about 3-4 character sets I was still missing one or two characters for. Also for some reason none of the quests or premium items in the store showed up for me during the 2020 Christmas event it was almost as if my game was blocking me from it completely anybody know what’s up with that? I tried everything from logging in and out to redownloading the app but nothing worked so I missed out:( and yes I know the event has since ended but I did all this while it was still running

  8. All done. I wonder when they will add new items to the yearbook so it will reappear.

  9. Do the coins go away when black friday event ends

    • The box goes away, and you can’t use them on a future box.
However, the ability to convert tokens to donuts should remain as long as you have tokens to convert. But no one is 100% sure of that until the event is over, so I always recommend using before the event is over. Either on the box or on donuts

  10. Has Safi ever done a probability on the Yearbook Mystery Box?

I started farming in order to get the doubled items in the Black Friday Box that are also in the Yearbook. So far, I’ve gotten 7-8 items from the Yearbook. Consistently, I’ve had to spend 120 donuts to get the items in slot #1 of the Yearbook. That means the probability is not 20% per item. I’m wondering if EA has changed the probability during the Black Friday event?

    • I have been using the yearbook for quite a while and have reached the point that I have only 3 items available at a time. Each slot has a different category of times available in each one. There are several mystery boxes which contains items cheaper then the yearbook and some items that have not yet made it into the yearbook.

      • Thanks, but that didn’t answer my question.

I’ve used the yearbook to get 13 of the items in the Black Friday box. 11 of those took 4 tries.

Do you think that EA changed the probability of the yearbook?

        • I found when using the yearbook I would try to get it where there was about 3 or more items that I wanted so I would generally be getting something I wanted. At the very least 2 items but if there was only one item it was often not worth trying to get the single item. I also found that using the yearbook there are tons of decorations that are often worth less then 30 donuts.

  11. And the ONE THING above anything else I was hoping to find in the various lists is sadly not there…that being the “golden goose realty”…
Which was a premium/limited/prize item before this wasn’t it?
Does this mystery box ever get updated? Or is there a likely good that when/if they retire this permanent box they’ll introduce a replacement maybe at (35) each, and update the lists for the previous few years content??

    • The yearbook has all the older premium content available for 30 donuts. The golden goose is a limited time special which requires you to spend 50 us/ 70 cnd in donuts when the item becomes available. The costmo was exactly the same deal. The donut factory was the same as costmo but had only been available once so far.

  12. I was wondering if the:
    Time Traveler’s Bundle
NPC’s have any bonus payout for placing them, they were not on the list.

  13. fantastic effort, I always check on here before I buy anything at full doughnut price

  14. Just came back after a long hiatus and I love this thing.

Some answers to some questions I’m seeing here. I noticed some things while experimenting and checking the wiki, and I figured I’d share them. Don’t know if anybody has mentioned these in the comments yet, but for those who want them, here are my findings. I only have around 280 items left in my Yearbook Mystery Box, so your results may vary.

    1. Yes, it repeats. You can refresh as many times as you like, and the items will eventually show up again.

    2. The items are in a specific order, though it is done in a strange way. Each item is in a particular place. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th. So it should always be in the same place when you come back around to it. Since each place has all it’s items in order, you should be able to predict when the prize you’re looking for will show up by remembering what came before it.

    3. Some groups have different numbers of items. For example my 1st group has 48 items left, while my 4th group has 71. That results in each set of 5 being different when you circle around.

    4. If you’re willing to refresh enough times (even hundreds of times) then you should be able to get a set of 5 items that you will be happy with. I find a particular item that I want and refresh until I come back around to it, and then see if I’m willing to settle for any of the other prizes just in case I don’t get what I want. If not, then I refresh back around again.

    5. Bundles don’t appear to show up if you already own some of the items in the bundle. For example, I have all the items from the Mayan Bundle except for Mayan Homer. The Mayan Bundle does not appear for me.

    Hope this helps.

  15. The Archbishop

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I’m puzzled with the yearbook. It’s been great at getting new stuff, but what I don’t get is if I get three items, that leaves two. However, if you then refresh for more there are always five items on each page. Nothing new gets added, so how can there always be five items per page?

  16. Randall Giddens

can you go through the list more than once? i have gotten to the part where its showing only characters now. but i want to refresh until i see the buildings again, but i don’t want to miss out on these characters either.

  17. Will they be updating the mystery box with items from previous events. Like the wrestling event, will those 150 donut premium be added after event is over or just when ea decides to add them. I haven’t seen anything new added in a while

  18. Plato’s Republic Casino*

    • I felt dumb! I didn’t know that pressing refresh changed the prizes. Like, I didn’t understand that the 5 prizes were what you could win… Thanks for explaining 😊

  19. Don’t know if you wamted to know if you missed any but I have 1.) Museum of Natural History and 2.) Hairy Shearers in my Mystery Box right now and couldn’t find them on this specific list. I’ll go search them now on the sites search engine (wonderful feature). Just thought you might want to know Alissa, keep up the great work! I love this site!

  20. If I don’t get the item I want on my first attempt will I get a second chance to get said item from the remaining 4 options or will it refresh to give me a whole new set of 5 items?

  21. Does anyone have a list of best/recommended items? I’ve collected all of the characters and skins, and now all the monorails (I think), and the whales, and a plethora of other stuff. I’m inclined to stop spending on the yearbook and saving donuts for event purchases. Just wondering if there are any recommended ‘must have’ items I shouldn’t pass up…?

  22. I only get things via the yearbook now since it the best way to get premium items. Some times the items are duds but most items are not bad
