Should I Spend Donuts On the Prom Photo Booth?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back to back mini-events in Springfield!  At least we have new content, right?  I think they only thing we can be sure of these days from EA is to expect the unexpected.  I don’t think any of us thought another 2-week mini-event would follow State of Despair, but here we are.  It’s reunion time for Marge, Homer, and the rest of the Springfield High Gang.  The perfect opportunity to drop a premium item in our games, and leave us wondering if we should spend our sprinkles on it.

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Prom Photo Booth to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this flasher to your town…

Building/Decoration: Prom Photo Booth
Donut Cost: 150 Donuts
Size:
4×4
Earns:
2.5% Bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +200
Can Be Placed:
grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt|beach
WDTCF?: “The Way We Was” S2 E12

Leaves stores March 26th

If you don’t already have them, this will appear in your store with combinations of Young Marge, Artie and Barney.  You must have all 3 to use this decoration. Pricing for those combos varies.  150 is the price for the booth alone.

Pros
-Comes with permanent tasks for Young Homer (in prom tux), Young Marge, Young Artie, and Young Barney. 4hrs (Homer’s task is alone, while Marge, Artie and Barney have a group task)
-Amusing animation for the tasks at the photo booth, including Barney streaking.

Cons
-Very expensive for what it is/does
-Bonus % is terrible for donuts spent
-Tasks cannot be combined. Either you send Young Homer or the group of Marge, Artie, and Barney.

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
It’s the only new premium item with this event.  It’s not awful, but it’s not great.  If you have the booth as a stand-alone 150 donuts really isn’t worth it.  However, if you have the ability to get the young characters with the booth then it’s a little bit better of a deal. Being that it’s the only new item with the event, it’s a total tossup for either Premium or Freemium players.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’m really on the fence.  It’s not great. Doesn’t seem worth the 150 donuts to me.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at the questlines it comes with..

Solo Portrait
Teen Homer starts

Prom Time Homer: Alone on prom night, this is sadder than the saddest song I’ve ever heard. Dad was right, women are trouble. But TV never breaks your heart, except for the reruns.
Make Prom Time Homer Try to Stay in Focus- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Prom Time Homer: *sigh* It’s no use. I want to be mad at Marge, but just thinking about her makes me smile. There’s gotta be something I can do to win her back! I can’t give up yet…Or at least not until I thoroughly humiliate myself. It’s the Simpson way!

Couples Portrait
Young Artie starts

Young Artie Ziff: Marge my dear, let us commemorate our Night To Remember by taking a picture for our future children’s scrapbooks.
Young Marge: Children?! I think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself.
Young Artie Ziff: But Marge, don’t you see how lucky you are? Being by my side, your fortune is guaranteed.
Young Marge: But I have dreams and ambitions. I want to travel the world, or maybe go to college!
Young Artie Ziff: Dear Marge, all you have to do is remain beautiful and keep clinging to the arm of Artie Ziff. What higher goal could a young lady have?
Young Barney: Wait! I want to be in the picture too! I’m not dressed yet — I hope nobody minds!
Make Young Springfielders Pose for a Prom Photo- 4hrs, Earns $780, 210xp
Young Artie Ziff: Really now, these little love slaps of yours are getting out of hand.
Young Marge:You’re the one who’s getting out of hand, Artie! And there’s no love in those slaps, so don’t pretend otherwise!
Young Artie Ziff: Ah Marge, you have so much to learn about the devil-may-care charm of Artie Ziff! Now how about some punch?
Young Marge:That may get served up sooner than you think!
Young Barney: Wow, they’ve got some problems to work out. I’m glad I’ve got my life all sorted out.

Remember, you cannot do these questlines simultaneously, Only 1 can use at a time, either prom time homer or Artie, Marge and Barney group.

  1. My photo booth offer comes with young Artie, young Barney, and young Marge for 300 donuts. Will I have to have the booth out for the characters to appear? I know that’s normal, but if things come in different combos, will it be the same for this?

  2. I had the version which offered all 3 characters for 300 donuts and I bought it because it came with the 3 characters (2 of which are voiced), 3 decorations (including the booth, though the other 2 don’t have bonus percentages) and a building. I liked that it cost me 300 donuts for the 3 characters and items (plus the photo booth) that would’ve originally cost 549 donuts. Just like what Brooders said Barney’s task sure is hilarious. 😀

  3. Still no fix for the stuck zoom issue in Kindles, I guess E A doesn’t care,

  4. Marge and Homer finish High School in 1979 – so they’d be pushing 60 by now?

  5. Nope…not a big fan of the young characters already and the photobooth would be just another storable…so, pass.🙂

    • Me too.

The thing is large and doesn’t really fit in. Since I have all the characters already, it’s 150 donuts for an eyesore. Pass.

  6. NOOOOOOOO! For like a year game resolution was way off on Samsung devices, and had all kinds of wacky disappearing items as I pan around the screen. Then like a month ago a patch came in, I had to download like 600mb of data and suddenly everything was great. The game looked better, cleaner, basically looked like i downloaded a high rez pack, could zoom out more, all the buildings that were missing like the mountains and everything showed up… i was loving it!.

The patch today, gain had to download a 600mb update and its back to the disappearing buildings zoomed in crap version… WHYYY?!!?

    • You need to clear your memory. When a device runs low on memory, weird anomalies happen in the game, including disappearing items or items being replaced with something else (which actually can be amusing sometimes).

Once I installed Clean Master….it has a widget that clears your memory with a single tap. So I always do a single tap memory sweep just before launching TSTO, I now I rarely have memory related issues.

  7. I bought this right away without checking to see what it did. After all, it was the only premium item available so it HAD to help with the event, right? LOL
Oh well, I had a ton of fun with the mystery box and that totally made up for my mistake. 🙂

  8. Barneys task is hilarious!!! 🤣

  9. Might get it. Depends if i tire of the mystery box.

  10. I assume young homer and Marge are just skins not full characters?

  11. If anyone is having issues with their game don’t bother contacting EA support. I have been working with them to get back some lost content and their systems have been down for the past 24 hours. I emailed again today and was told to try back tomorrow and maybe they could help me then.

    • Ta, could have been, sometimes the updates in my store have a delay or crossover when I use data only.

  12. Update this morning, any ideas ?

    • Sorry thought first post hadn’t gone through 😁

    • There was one that hit app stores yesterday, is that the one you’re referring to? If so it was just a patch.

      • Ta, could have been, sometimes the updates in my store have a delay or crossover when I use data only.

      • Yes, it was a patch, that got rid of the code saying that GGR was supposed to return, however, the more interesting addition of this patch was it got rid of the timer on the Yearbook. From what I can see in the code, there is now no end date for the Mystery Box, so perhaps it will be permanent.

        • lol Thanks for agreeing with me that it was a patch 😉

Not to bore people with the coding stuff, but, oddly enough, the actual code for the Mystery Box never had an end date associated with it in the coding even on the first release of the content. Visual timer, yes. End date, nope.

This patch just removed the GGR start date (ironically that also didn’t have an end date) and that visual timer.

  13. Anyone know what this mornings update was about ?

  14. Thanks a lot Alissa! I picked it up because I was offered young Artie, Marge and Barney, and for 300D that seemed a good price 😀

  15. Bought it right away and was surprised to get the roller rink, marge sculpture garden, photo booth and the 3 young characters 😁 well worth 300 donuts lol
