Simpson’s News Links

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Friday (Yay!), there’s nothing new in TSTO, but there’s still a bunch of new content going on in the Simpsons World.  So, here’s the latest roundup of Simpon’s News and a few fun things to check out!

Wondering what the voice actors of The Simpsons think about Disney taking over FOX? Yeardley Smith (who voices Lisa) shares her opinion on the take over with The Hollywood Reporter hereThe long and short of is that she says:

“When you’re dealing with something that is still so culturally relevant, and sort of such a pillar of our culture, if you’re going to mess with that, that’s some pretty risky territory,”

Check out the full article with The Hollywood Reporter to see more of Yeardley’s take.

Ever wonder about Hans Moleman?  He’s a background character in the show, but he’s certainly a memorable one.  Vulture tackles “The Enigma of The Simpsons’ Hans Moleman” in an in-depth article that can be found here. It details an interesting history of Hans, including some writer’s room controversies.  Check out the article from Vulture here.

And finally, it wouldn’t be a Simpsons News post without a list of something.  Screen Rant recently posted 25 Simpsons Deleted Scenes that Went to Far….be careful when watching this if you’re easily offened.  Remember, these were scenes that were cut because they were too violent or simply went to far in making fun of a group of people….

So there you have it my friends, the latest round-up of fun Simpson’s News!

What are your thoughts on the links and news?   Sound off below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Yeardley Smith’s opinions are spot on (The Simpsons is a valuable intellectual property, there are tons of episodes that could end up on a streaming service like Disney +, or the intellectual property could be sold to Comcast Universal to gain back some of that $71 billion dollar spent to acquire Fox).

Screen Rant’s article was cool (I always have an interesting what happens when writers have to face some sort of editorial decisions, usually it’s a Network’s standards and practices dictating things – which begs the question could The Simpsons get away with more if they were on a Netflix or Hulu vs a Network TV Station?)

  2. Many thanks for the Hans Moleman link, very interesting article on one of my favorite characters!

  3. Just saw that Hank Azaria is a guest on Stephen Colbert tonight at 11:30 pm…wondering if he will talk about the Disney takeover.🤔

  4. iI remember the episode where Homer is getting back his clamped car from New York hasn’t been aired for some years due to the Twin Town atack

  5. Rusty Shackleford

Thanks Alissa, interesting stuff. But those deleted scenes weren’t cut before they aired. They may have been cut from later showings, but I remember seeing most of them.

    • I remember some too.

    • Yeah, I believe most if not all scenes are cut for time. They wouldn’t spend money to animate a scene if they didn’t like it, and keep in mind scripts go through several rewrites (so censorship takes place very early on)

  6. Thanks a lot Alissa! I never imagined that behind Moleman there was such a mystery 😀
