The Simpsons News Links

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Another Friday my friends, and that means it’s time for another round of Simpsons News!  And I’m going to be honest, this week A LOT of Simpson News comes out of New York.  Apparently, New Yorkers get ticked off…who knew?  😉 Here’s the latest roundup of Simpsons News and a few fun things to check out!

As I mentioned at the top, A LOT of News this week is based on last Sunday’s show.  Apparently making fun of Upstate NY pissed a lot of people off, go figure!  Here’s a collection of articles (if you missed them) related to that “controversy”…

From Buffalo News
Upstate New York Featured on The Simpsons
Yes, Some Western New Yorkers Still Watch The Simpsons

You can find the song Lyrics (and some commentary) here
The Simpsons Sang a Song About Upstate New York. It wasn’t pretty.

There are hundreds of other articles, you guys get the gist…

Oh and they didn’t just piss off New Yorkers, Newfies were pretty upset too…and the Ottawa Senators were a little embarrassed

P.S. Did you know Andrew Cuomo never saw an episode of The Simpsons?  Has he been hiding under a rock for the last 30 years? Honestly, how he was elected I’ll never know… Al Jean did send him a DVD and invite him to a table read though

Onto something not related to Upstate New York, although New York is part of it….recently the EPs and Cast of The Simpsons got together at Tribeca to celebrate 30 years of The Simpsons.  They talked about a lot of topics, but Disney was the primary one.  You can check out the article here.

And in completely non-related news..and just something fun.  Here’s another What Culture Simpsons Who Said It Quiz…Gunther (from Friends) or Moe…

Take the quiz here

So there you have it my friends, the latest round-up of fun Simpson’s News!

What are your thoughts on the links and news?   Sound off below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I may or may not live in Western New York (somewhere between Niagara Falls and Buffalo) 😛
I liked the episode for the most part, nothing rattled me. I liked a few of the pit stop jokes; though I think Homer should have gone to Duffs (not just because it is the name of the beer he drinks, but also the famed Buffalo Wings. Yes I saw him eat at The Anchor Bar, but idk.)
In an episode of Canada vs USA, if you’ve ever been too both cities Niagara Falls, Canada; and Niagara Falls, USA there are plenty of contrasts (and yes N.F., USA is in much worse shape)
    Anyway, … it’s been a while 😛

  2. I am an upstate New Yorker, in fact about 30 miles from Niskayuna, and I was not at all offended by the episode this past Sunday, for the record.

  3. I just think it is ridiculous to the max that the Simpson world gets so unwound so quickly about stupid little jokes, when you got “Family guy” and “South park” over there doing school shootings, aids, religion,, etc. The Simpsons community is looking for any tiny reason to kill off Apu and his character for what..? That’s one of the problems with this new social generation, everybody is so fragile…. My 2 cents. Thx.

    • How dare you use 2 cents! As a Canadian, I am offended you would waste copper!

We abolished the 1 cent penny a few years ago, as the rising cost of copper made the price of a 1 cent copper penny literally worth more than 1 cent. Our smallest denomination is now the 5 cent nickel. So in the future, so as to not offend us Canadians, please share your thoughts in multiples of 5 cents.

    • There was like this ONE comedian guy who was offended by the depiction of Apu (or just wanting some attention, who knows). “The Simpsons Community” never wanted to kill Apu and this whole topic is basically over for months now, you’re the first to bring it up in ages.
That’s one of the problems with this old generation, talking before thinking, or without thinking at all. But always quick with the prejudice…

      • Wow. I guess we’re all overgeneralizing about populations of people.

Let me ask a question, though, in regards to Apu. I can’t recall myself, but had Apu even appeared in a Simpson’s episode yet this season?

  4. Weeeeeeellllll. I have a new client who actually works for EA. A game developer who tells me I’m not allowed to talk about the games he’s working on. When I asked about the TSTO his immediate response was “I thought that was over”
Ok so he’s young. I harboured no Ill will and made no snide cracks.
He is checking on it and he will get me info. I expect to see him on his return to Orlando in 3 weeks …when I cut and style him next!
Almost 7 years for me invested in TSTO so I won’t sit on anything I hear about. Fingers crossed!

  5. The lampooning of New York (via changed lyrics to “New York New York”) was epic and honest observations …. please hurry up and poke fun of Las Vegas (Viva Lost Wages), I promise we won’t get butthurt – we will laugh in agreement! 😂

Newfoundland getting all hurt over the “clubbing of the seal” reference is on them (it’s simple, stop supporting the clubbing of seals, then it won’t have to be referenced again!) 🤷🏼‍♂️

Ever since the Walt Disney Company purchased 20th Century Fox, along with the majority of Fox’s assets / intellectual property? The Simpsons has gotten more media attention (I think more so then the fact they are the longest running television programme still being aired!) – now that increased media attention should be all the more reason why EA should capitalize on having TSTO already available! What’s left? Have EA create a new console / PC Game? (maybe) 😉

  6. I’m not sure about everyone else but for me I like this down time. I’ve been playing as a freemium player since 2014. the tennis court gift allowed me to more than double my bonus % to 1200 with the collider active. Then they kept the year book mystery box and I can now get all the characters and extra stuff I missed before because I was holding back on spending too many donuts. There are so many items and characters I missed out on in the past and now I can get stuff that originally cost 100 or more worth for just 30 donuts. Its great. I mean TSTO has been going strong for a good 5 years. I can’t complain if they take a break for a bit. I’m sure when the game does end they would make it possible for us to keep playing. Sort of like how they got rid of Krusty Land but allowed us to keep going with it in Springfield. Everything will work out in the end.

  7. It’s funny how different people perceive different things as offensive.
I’m Scottish and find groundskeeper Willie hilarious but my ten year old daughter thinks he’s a bit racist.

  8. I’m still playing!!! So at least 6?

  9. Been waiting for another one of these Simpsons-related news posts to share this fun link a friend shared with me: https://www.rollingstone.com/tv/tv-news/ned-flanders-metal-band-okilly-dokilly-the-simpsons-819321/

  10. 45% on the quiz. Guess that’s what happens when you’ve never actually seen “Friends” before!

  11. I like the CBC poll about the “newfies” joke:

Did The Simpsons take it too far?
    20% Yes
    37% No
    43% I don’t care

    Thanks a lot Alissa <3

I’m still perplexed why EA hasn’t sent you guys
anything about what’s going on with this very long and much extended down time?! Not even a peep from these guys? Getting Super worried , just don’t want this game to end ! If it is the end of this portion of the game , they so should morph it into another game, keep it goin somehow , may even revive the game even more . Curious now ,any idea how many current players there are that play TSTO regularly?

    • I play regularly, so there’s at least one. 🙂

    • I play at least once a day minimum, usually 3 or 4 times daily, would certain leave me with a hole to plug if the game were to end.

    • I play daily, but I take the weekends off (a suggestion from Patric I found to be a benefit). 😁

      • Cory Castleberry

I very much agree. Always finishing the events days early makes for a good time to do our other daily grinding duties and not get too wrapped up in a game . Moderation with everything in life, even our pocket sized Springfields
