It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

The Real Moms of Springfield mini-event is winding down, you’ve got until Wednesday to finish up the prize track (and buy those premium items if you wanted to). What are your thoughts on the mini-event? Finish the prize track? What do you think will be next in TSTO? Another event or more downtime?
ICYMI the Simpsons Writers/Producers are going to be on a panel at the E3 Coliseum on June 11th. What could this all mean? Another Simpsons game?
Also, you may have missed Saturday’s Simpsons Trivia…all about “Girls Just Want to Have Sums” (the Jake Boyman episode). If you missed it you can check it out here.
It’s Memorial Day Weekend here in the US, the unofficial start to summer! Any plans this weekend? Hosting any picnics?

I just really hope that EA is spending all this downtime doing a revamp. I’m still waiting for the feature that lets me select job templates of my favorites for each character. Using just the timeframes at the employment office is a mixed bag of animations, and I have WAY too many people to go through the roster 1 at a time any more. And because they’re always in the same order, now there are some I just never even get to.

Did you store some of your Springfield Heights buildings, as these have bonuses that only count when out of storage?

We’ve only been hearing this since…let’s see…four years ago? What I have to ask, is do people like you just enjoy being negative for the sake of being a jerk to others? Do you also like to ruin the endings of movies for those who haven’t seen it? Do you stand by ice cream shops hoping that a kid drops their cone so you can laugh?

You could well be correct but why not look at things in a more positive mind. No one knows what is in store for us but let’s just chill out & look forward to playing this great game for quite a while yet.

What do you think is going to happen on Wednesday?
I am quite “negative”, meaning that it seems that the new normal is longer breaks between events. So, my guess is “nothing”.
I’m not really expecting anything so if something happens it will be a nice surprise, if not then just business as usual.
I’m hopeful that since the mini event started late and ran two weeks that we will see a full event drop Wednesday but won’t hold my breath. I would love to see a planes, trains and automobiles themed event: a working train track for our Union Station like the monorail, a variety of cars that drive on the roads, curving pieces for the highway, transitions pieces from road to highway, on and off ramps, signs for Shelbyville, Capitol City and Cypress Creek (so I can place them properly) One can dream.
With a few exceptions I haven’t really minded the slower pace. At first I took a break only checking in every 12 or 24 hrs just to collect from the Donut Factory and Sky Finger Monument, play Where’s Maggie and some other mini games and collect and resend characters out on tasks via the job manager. Slowly I have been getting the design bug back and going back and filling in areas left unfinished from past events largely due to the hated bonus percentage areas and relentless pace, Springfield Jobs, Krusty and I&S land, the zoo. I’ve got a long way to go still with the aforementioned towns (If we don’t get more SH land soon, Cypress Creek will absorb the affluent looking content) Transylvania, the Outlands and other newly acquired items from the Yearbook. Enough to keep me busy puttering around for months. Happy Tapping All!
I too would definitely welcome new pieces for the highway as you have suggested.
I really hope EA raises the item limit. I’m dying to do some more designing in my town but I don’t want to store my other designs in order to make room ☹️

I read this site a lot but rarely post. Want to say thank you to the moderators and to the people who contribute in the comments. After the mother’s day event I wanted to see if there were any permanent tasks for the stardust drive in, used the search feature here & saw in the comments you could send wierd al on a task that would use the drive in if he was close enough. Got him to activate it & so happy! This game still makes me smile, & this site makes it even better. Thank you!!

Is there any inanimate object that can float on Man/Women made inland lakes? Not just the Ocean?
Just did a Pirate design inland. Would love something like a boat float on created water EA!
Gondalas are the only things that can float on man made lakes, but they don’t really have a “pirate” feel to them.
I’d really love a marina that you could put on an inland waterway, and some new boats to moor there. Maybe Judge Harm’s houseboat or a ferry to the men’s island?
I got all my “must haves” from the yearbook. Now I’m trying to get all the remaining characters. Then I’ll move on to focusing on skins.

Ah…Alissa and I laughed last week when we saw the story on this. The info is pretty vague…but we knew it would be a good for another speculation-fest from our readers. Guess we’ll all find out on the 11th. But, I don’t suspect this has anything to do with our lulliness.

The recent discussion about tagging or not tagging made me think about neighbor visits and neighbors in general.
During these recent quiet months in the game I have been visiting my Springfield less often; I play the in-game games, pop Sideshow You balloons, etc. and if I have a chunk of time I’ll clear buildings, assign character tasks and do some designing. What I haven’t done at all is visiting my neighbors; I’ve done no visits for months. I used to visit every one of them at least once a week or more up until the trickling away of mini-events and the phase of no action began. I have had some neighbors since I started playing during the original Whacking Day event, some are more recent additions, some are family and personal friends. Out of close to 100 friends I have about 5-10 who visit at least once a week and a few who visit daily. Most of the rest never set a tapping finger in my town.
I always visited to collect for the interactive personal prizes and when we still had major events I visited regularly to get the (usually paltry) game currency and to see what fun stuff all of my neighbors were doing with event design. That they never visited me to tap didn’t cross my mind.
Now I feel differently thanks to the recent sloooowwww phase of the game. It’s time for some spring cleaning, neighbor-wise. If neighbor interactions pick up again I’ll send neighbor requests to some of those individuals again, but for now unless you’re family, personal friends or have visited my town on a somewhat regular basis I’m deleting you. No hard feelings, no disgruntled motives – I’m just streamlining my own game.
I am really enjoying redesigning and/or tweaking my town design, hauling things out of storage and tossing some things into that bottomless storage pit; that’s what I most want to do in tsto now.
So, you admit to not visiting your neighbors, and now you’re saying you’re deleting neighbors who haven’t visited you?
tippietippie, Please re-read my post. Your comment puts an unnecessarily negative spin on what was a well-considered choice on my part, and you really missed my point. I deleted people who didn’t visit me AND I was doing no favors to my neighbors by being on their friends’ list but not visiting them, so I deleted myself from their towns.
My point was that the lull period made me re-evaluate MY game, not my neighbors. I said “…no hard feelings, no disgruntled motives – I’m just streamlining my game.”

Cranking up the smoker this afternoon…pork ribs, chicken and whatever else I find in the freezer🐠🐟 🦐👍😁. Had some help yesterday putting in a new A/C in the bonus room, so making extra goodies to pass along. Tried smoking a sweet potato last time as an experiment…it was wonderful, so throwing a couple in today for dinner. They get sliced and glazed with brown sugar, orange juice concentrate, butter and cloves just before serving. Yummy!
Finished the current event (?) a week ago, so just waiting to see if anything else is in the works. Thanks to all my neighbors who are visiting and tagging…wish there were more places to tag 🤪.
If any of my neighbors want me to stop tagging them, they can respond here and I’ll do my best to remember…otherwise it’s a tag-a-palooza and everyone is fair game for El Barto!
