Should I Spend Donuts On the Conflict of Enemies Battle Arena & SmellYaL8r?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Let the games begin!  After a long hiatus, we finally have a major event in Springfield!  Game of Games has arrived and it looks to be a game fest of nerdy proportions! Of course, an all-new event means all new premium content in our stores, just tempting us to drop those pink sprinkles!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Conflict of Enemies Battle Arena & SmellYaL8r to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this green giant combo to your town…

Building/Decoration: Conflict of Enemies Battle Arena
Character: SmellYaL8r (premium skin/costume for Nelson)
Donut Cost: 150 Donuts
Size:
9×11
Earns:
1.25% Bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter:
Vanity +200
Can Be Placed:
grass|dirt
WDTCF?: “E My Sports” Season 30, Episode 17

Leaves stores June 26th, 2019

Pros
-Helps with the event, earns a special premium rate
-A couple of fun animated tasks, although one of them won’t show up until you’ve unlocked a character in Part 4 (prize track)
-Comes with his own, albeit short, questline
-Will use the arena for tasks, and the arena has a fun animation when in use (blue gems turn red and laser light (like) show shoots out from the center)

Cons
-This is a costume for Nelson, not a new character
-Expensive for what it is/does
-The benefit of earning more event currency isn’t great, because it’s not a net new character.  So you replace Nelson’s earning with SmellYaL8r…so it’s a net of 4.  Instead of adding 12. (hopefully that makes sense)

Final Thought
This combo is really pricey for what it is/does. Plus the fact that it’s a skin doesn’t help matters.  However, I still think it’s fun and at the end of the event it’ll be even better when it unlocks a fun visual task with Bart’s costume.  So, like Blocko Angelica, this isn’t something you “must have”.  It’s ok, but I don’t think you’ll miss much if you pass.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I’ll likely pick this up.  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

SmellYaL8r’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Rage in the Chat 1hr $105, 26xp Java Server
Use Ultimate 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Practice with Team 8hrs $420, 105xp Battle Arena
Team Fight 12hrs Visual/With General Splattin’ (to be unlocked (prize track) later)
Solo Fight 12hrs $600, 150xp Battle Arena
Dance on the Fallen 24hrs $1000, 225xp Battle Arena

Thanks for the SIB. I decided to pass and to spend my donuts on some of the 30 donut throwback items that would go well with my zoo area instead.

  2. Is it me or does the battle arena not ork on pavement?

  3. That’s still on EA, not you Alissa – TSTO Addicts never fails to deliver accurately

If what EA told you isn’t what occurs in the Game App, then my “zero expectations” is proven once again (only this time you can’t trust what EA will send you information wise) 🤷🏼‍♂️

This hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the Event, but I don’t have trust in EA with regards to their new Premiums (they get to earn that back). 🙄

As usual I got it straight away but to be honest it’s pretty lame. Hadn’t realised it was a skin.

  5. As there was nothing better to do in the endless downtime I farmed thousands of donuts. So now I’ll buy anything that earns anything regardless of value. I doubt I’m alone?

Totally unsure about this one and think I will pass, can’t really see a place for it and it’s expensive for a skin

Until EA solves the Angelica Buttons Blocko Dungeon nonsense, I refuse to spend sprinkles on any new Premiums no matter how cool it may seem (I don’t think that’s right to present a Character Building Combo as something available to help during each Act / Week, but then pull the rug out the 2nd Act / Week!)

At least EA should have put “Character Skin” under description for SmellYaL8r (I feel bad for those who spent sprinkles and regret it). If you have all of the Characters needed AND at least Sophie Krustofsky? You will finish Act 2 / Week 2.

    • In fairness…in the game Blocko Angelica didn’t say helps with all 4 acts. That was something we were told (we meaning the Addicts (and others who get the NDA event packet)) by EA directly

  8. I picked it up, I passed on Blocko Angelica so I decided to get this. I didn’t have a skin for Nelson so I felt he deserved one! I admit it is pricey especially because the bonus % is so low, but I like it and to me that’s the main reason to spend some donuts 🍩 noticing EA is being stingy with the bonus % for the premium items in this event.

  9. I finally got some concrete info from Amazon !The update was defective and deleted from the app store.  Should be corrected in “7-10” working days.  I have spent lots of time on this, and happy to have an answer, even a sad one.r.

    • Well, that’s good news.

    • Wow! Great sleuthing… I wonder what their idea of “defective” is, as almost every EA update is buggy?

Thank you for taking the time to post information regarding Amazon Kindle. I hope you have an alternate means of playing Simpsons Tapped Out (ie an Android tablet, Android smartphone, etc). At least Amazon is acknowledging there is a problem with the hopeful solution (something you don’t get from EA that often).

  10. Thanks for this SIB, Alissa. I have the Ds to buy this combo, and the Arena interaction is tempting, but I think I’ll skip this one. Not a fan of overpriced combos, honestly. I came to terms with the possibility of NOT completing some character groups, and this makes no exception 😀 if this combo will be available in the future – at a lower price – I’ll seriously consider it ^_^
