Should I Spend Donuts On Ted Flanders and the Herbal Spinach Cart?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Another update in Springfield, so soon after the last feels like a minor miracle!  A new mini-event went live in our games yesterday morning…the Flanders Family Reunion. Of course, an all-new mini-event means all-new premium content in our stores, just tempting us to drop those pink sprinkles!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Ted Flanders and his Herbal Spinach Cart to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this organic combo to your town…

Building/Decoration: Herbal Spinach Cart
Character: Ted Flanders
Donut Cost: 150 Donuts
Size:
2×3
Earns:
4% Bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter:
Consumerism +20
Can Be Placed:
grass|pavement|boardwalk|pier|dirt
WDTCF?: “Ted Flanders” S21 E22.  He is the cousin of Ned Flanders and appears at the end of the episode, moves in next door to The Simpsons (it appears someone can be worse than Sideshow Bob).

He also has 2 daughters, Connie and Bonnie…

I wonder how long until they’re in our games…
Not sure on the Herbal Spinach connection.  Seems like this may be a storyline the writers thought about exploring but haven’t yet…or won’t? Still a fun twist in our game! Reminds you to READ THE DIALOGUE! (it’s hilarious!)

Leaves stores July 31st, 2019

Pros
-Helps with the event, earns a special premium rate
-A couple of amusing animated tasks
-Has a rare 24hr visual task
-Voiced
-Quimby has a permanent 4hr task at the Spinach Cart, Purchase Herbal Spinach

Both Pro and Con, Depending on how you play…
-Has two 4hr tasks, both visual and nonvisual.
-Just about all of Ted’s tasks take place at the Spinach Cart
-The storyline doesn’t have a firm base from the show.  Basically, they took a brief minute of Ted from the show and expanded his character for the game.

Cons
-Spinach Cart animation, for non-visual tasks, is meh
-Questline may offend some folks

Final Thought
Premium or Freemium:
As the only new premium combo with this event, it’s a good buy.  He helps with the event, and it’s a chance to see how the writers expand the character storyline beyond the show.
Plus Ted’s Take a Lunch Break task alone is worth it…his facial expressions are the best!

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and as a premium player, I already picked it up (almost instantly).  But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

Here’s a look at his tasks…

Ted Flanders’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Hide from the Law 1hr $105, 26xp Herbal Spinach Cart
Hide His Tears with Sunglasses 4hrs $260, 70xp Herbal Spinach Cart

Sell Herbal Spinach 24hrs $1000, 225xp Outside/Visual at Herbal Spinach Cart

Also has 4hr tasks at Smooches on the Beach, $ Casino, & Boiled Potato.  And an 8hr task at Chez Guevara.

  1. Wasn’t sure before
    Am now
    Sold…. er, bought.

  2. I went for it. Also got Couch Pommelhort on the first try.

  3. Thought about it, but I have a combo of picks in my Yearbook that if I spend the same 150 donuts on, will give me a slightly higher % bonus and 3 characters so I think I’ll just focus on those.

  4. Here in Canada, herbal spinach has been legal across the country since last October

    • I live in Maine. The law to legalize recreational marijuana passed in this state approx. 4 years ago. At this point….with all the extra legislation that comes along with such law, an individual still can not go buy products with thc at a dispensary. A medical card is still needed these 4 years later. On average….it’s seems easy to receive a medical if you want to pay 250$ and fib to a doctor. I still have to find mine from friends, which can be a pain. 4 years of legalization….I still can’t go to a store and buy some!!!!!!

    • Jungumper

Here in Las Vegas both medical and recreational has been legal for 3 years (with lounges coming soon) 😀👍

    • Yep! Canada seems so much more progressive when it comes to medicinal and recreational remedies! Kamala Harris even said if they can’t get the health crisis dealt with, if elected, she would institute the ability for Americans to buy prescription drugs in Canada. Yikes… Big Pharm. ABig pain!

  5. Ted Flanders and his Herbal Spinach Cart

Spent the sprinkles instantly (my only regret is that Otto doesn’t have a Task visiting the Herbal Spinach Cart (lol) but don’t blame it on the CBD oil I use …. blame it on the need to be a Flanders Family completist! 😉👉

Writers are getting a HUGE 👍 for the dialogue in this Event 😀

  6. I’ll pass. Just want my Linguo.

  7. Bought immediately. Put it across from Woodstock by the pot(tery) shop. I buy all things spinach 😁

  8. Put the Spinach cart right next to the KEM for obvious reasons.
Herbal Spinach we be legal across the USA within 2-3 years.

    • 🤷‍♀️ my town just passed a law explicitly banning it within the “city limits” (not that I live in a city but that sounds better than borough limits lol)

  9. The only reason I bought this combination is because of the 4% bonus.

  10. Rusty Shackleford

I picked him up. Anything Flanders related is aokillydokilly with me!

After the event I will decide where to place his cart.

  11. I love this combo! Picked it up the instant I saw it. Put the cart in the parking lot of the grocery store. I’m just going to go ahead and say it….this mini event is awesome!! I’m a huge Flanders fan, he cracks me up!! I’m a darn-diddly- arn happareeno addict!!! ( or some kind of Flanders gibberish)

  12. Mmm hmm, love me some “herbal spinach.” Placed it in front of the Stoner’s Pot Palace.

  13. I’m loving this event….so far. Love the characters…decor. dialogue has been great. I’m actually gonna take my time with this event, instead of plowing through it. Gonna enjoy it …..like a nice……have a great week everyone. Beautiful weather here in Northern Maine. Take while we can….snow and cold are sadly not ever too long off.

  14. P.S. I hope so much that the 2 broccoli curled girls will also join their papa. Papa EA, are you listeeeening *sings like Barbra to Ea*

  15. It seems to me that the writers are using “spinach” as a way of using a marijuana angle in the game without offending too badly the conservative who plays this game or directly exposing our younger players. That would explain the arrests, as this drug is and was illegal and because plant based “medicine” is often called an “herbal remedy”, hence herbal spinach. We already know Ned’s parents are hippies and therefore would most likely smoke this stuff. Additionally, the way they place these spinach leaves together, is vaguely similar to a marijuana leaf. Lastly, by placing in a cart is a nod to the different products containing marijuana that can be bought off a dispensary shelf or cart as you will. It’s just a clever way to add a taboo subject to our gameplay. I bought the combo for the character not for the spinach cart that I have no need for.

    • Gee, I never thought of that! Sorry for the snarky response but satire can be a required taste, like Eggs Florentine.

  16. HELL-A-DOODELY YEAH! I am so down for my mans CBT Flanders! Thank you so much for this finely curated recommendation, miss Alissa! I barely can see anything on my tiny phone, so this post with screenshots and story line is super helpful. I can\t wait to park the sassy vegetable cart with a Flanderino hitting the devil’s medical broccolis in my Springflam!

So technically, Ted lives in the Brown house?

  18. I’ve placed it on the boardwalk for now…it seems to fit in quite nicely there!
