Super Safi’s Monday Morning Math Mayhem 22 – Seventh Heaven

Morning Mathematical Monsters & Maniacs!

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “M”)

Hi, I’m Super Safi and you may remember me from such stats and strategy posts as Kwik-E-Mart Farming and the advanced losing-to-win Superheroes battle strategy.

Over the past 600+ episodes, The Simpsons has taken us on an amazing mathematical journey involving fractions, probability, Fermat’s last theorem, and hundreds of other aspects from the wonderful world off mathematics.

And what better way to start your week, then by discussing math Monday morning?

What better way to start the week of the 7th by looking at the number 7. Consider yourself in seventh heaven as we look at lucky number seven in this seventh year itch of the game (and don’t forget to come back as this post is available 24/seven).

In Bart Gets a “Z” (Season 21, Episode 02), Bart and his friends get Mrs. Krabappel drunk to get her to loosen up, which ultimately results in Principal Skinner firing her. Her replacement is Mr. Zachary Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn impresses the students with his texts, Facebook posts, and other social media uses.

One of his lessons includes sending the class a time-lapse video of him wearing football jerseys with multiples of 7.

7   x   1   =   7

7   x   2   =   14

7   x   3   =   21

7   x   4   =   28

7   x   5   =   35

7   x   6   =   42

7   x   7   =   49

7   x   8   =   56

7   x   9   =   63

7   x   10   =   70

7   x   11   =   77

7   x   12   =   84

7   x   13   =   91

7   x   14   =   98

7   x   15   =   105

7   x   16   =   112

7   x   17   =   119

7   x   18   =   126

7   x   19   =   133

7   x   20   =   140

Multiplication Table

Multiplication tables (aka times tables in some countries) are traditionally taught as an essential part of elementary arithmetic around the world, as it lays the foundation for arithmetic operations with base-ten numbers. Here is an example of a multiplication table.

Now that we’ve completed a look at the multiplication table of the number 7, be sure to keep them in mind when you want to multiply something by 7.

If you love math or enjoy reading these posts, don’t forget to stop by the Addicts Shop and check out all the paraphernalia, including the Math Mayhem shirts and hoodies.

Are you able to quickly calculate seven times every single digit number? Did you have to memorize the multiplication table in school? Sound off in the comments below. You know we love hearing from you.

  1. If Zachary Vaughn gets added to TSTO, he should have a visual task of him wearing all the jerseys and another visual task of him mixing vodka with his energy drink. I used to find the multiples of 7 difficult back in school but now I know them all more better. I did also get taught the multiples of 13 in a few lessons.

  2. Had to memorize the “times” tables (it was the year before we learned gozintas), and I always wondered why / who decided to stop at 12. Why not 10, why not 15?
SO many flash cards to memorize I think I’m having flashcard flashbacks!
