So here’s your official TSTO Addicts reminder…all new episode, the season’s fourth episode, this Sunday, October 20th, 8pm on FOX (at the same time on City TV in Canada)….the much anticipated 666th episode that ties into our current Halloween event that just hit our games…“Treehouse of Horror XXX”!
So what do The Simpsons have in store for us this week?

“The 30th Treehouse of Horror features a demon Maggie, a mission to rescue Milhouse from another dimension, dead-Homer’s spirit trying on some new bodies for size and Selma finally finding love in an unlikely place – the alien in the basement.”

I don’t watch the new episodes any more but wanted to watch the Halloween for old times’ sake.
Yikes, that episode was downright bad. I don’t believe I even smiled once throughout.
My wife even asked me near the end if it was supposed to be funny.
One positive is that it totally validated my decision to not watch this show anymore.

Also the original Bart and Lisa were in episode 666, so the whole original family would be a possibility.

Yankees lose, yay! 1st decade since 1910’s they didn’t make world series. Only thing bringing more Joy is THOH horror dropping this week.

After a few years in the post season this year was a hard pill to swallow. No post season….lost our best manager…..

Hmmm…Trolling just for the sake of trolling? Pretty low level of communication… I get why people dislike the Yankees. After all, they have appeared more World Series done any other team by several multipliers over. It will be fun to see the Nationals (sorry Montreal) in their first World Series ever, compared to the 40+ World Series appearances by the Yankees.

If MLB wasn’t worried about an all Canadian World Series in 1994, there wouldn’t have been a strike and this wouldn’t be the first time the Nationals franchise would be in the World Series.
As a former Royals fan (I quit caring about baseball when the millionaires cancelled the World Series), I think the reason why the people “hate” the Yankees is not because of their success but because they can “buy” their success. NY has a great market allowing them to buy the best players. Many of the smaller market teams develop their players only to see them leave for richer markets when they get successful. So when the Yankees lose people feel joy that the “little” guys can win occasionally.
Allissa, sorry for your lose, but for all but one team, there is always next year.
Except in baseball today there’s no such thing as a small market team. Between revenue sharing and TV contracts every team can have a large payroll..many just choose not to (ie the Rays).
The other funny part of this is…the Yankees haven’t had the highest payroll in baseball in a while. The RedSox and Dodgers, and Cubs…have exceeded them or are right up there close with them over the last several years. Yet I don’t hear anyone yelling about those guys buying their success…
You’d be surprised at the “small-market teams” payroll these days…Current Top 10 payrolls in baseball (out of 30 teams): RedSox, Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals, Astros, Nationals, Mets, and Angels… (then you have Phillies, Rockies, Mariners and Braves to round out the top half) With many of those “small market” teams projected to have payroll increases next year as players start to get paid their extension money.
What you say may be true now, but one doesn’t go from “hating” a team for a long time just because they no longer do “X” now. Kansas and Missouri haven’t played in years yet there are many fans on both side that still “hate” the other. The Yankees have had a long history and it will probably take decades before some will stop routing against them. Consider it a sign of respect.
It’s ok to hate them. I’ll never root for the Red Sox. Hatred of the Red Sox is in my DNA. However, don’t use the “they buy their success” as your argument for hating them. If that’s your reason for hating the Yankees then you also must hate the Cubs, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc…
