Christmas 2019 (Abe’s in Toyland): Week 1 Questline, Premium Character Old Tut

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s finally Christmas in Springfield!  Our pocket-sized Springfields have been covered with a fresh blanket of snow!  What’s in store for us this time?  Well, we’re tasked with seeing if Grampa can bore Death…well to death!  Loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up.

Abe’s in Toyland follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it.  This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the event!

With Act 1, week 1, one new premium character was introduced. In addition to helping with event currency, Old Tut comes with his own, short, individual questline, so let’s take a look at the full dialogue questline now…

A Father’s Father’s Father Pt. 1
Old Tut starts

Old Tut: Be sure to use your elbows when strangling a child, or you won’t get a good compression.
Burns: I can’t believe there is a Simpson who’s more cruel and abusive than I am.
Old Tut: Who asked your opinion, you old bag of farts?
Burns: Cruel to an old man, too? I think I’m in love. Teach me how to be as awful as you.
Old Tut: I can teach you the basics…but it’s going to cost you a lot of money.
Burns: What luck! That’s exactly what I’m made of.
Make Old Tut Teach Burns How to be Evil- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Make Burns Waste Money on Self-Help Classes- 4hrs, Earns $175, 45xp

A Father’s Father’s Father Pt. 2
Burns starts

Burns: Your advice wasn’t worth one red cent. And where were the jokes? You said you teach with humor.
Old Tut: I said I teach with hematomas: large bruises.
Burns: How dare you try to cheat me? Smithers, release the hounds.
Smithers: Sorry, but the hounds were so impressed by Old Tut’s cruelty, they joined his team.
Old Tut: Time for your next lesson, Mr. Burns: how to rip a man to shreds with his own dogs.
Burns: It literally hurts to admit, that lesson is worth the tuition fee.
Make Old Tut Release the House- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

A Father’s Father’s Father Pt. 3
Moleman starts

Hans Moleman: Do you have the time?
Old Tut: Indeed I do. I’m known for the accuracy of my pocket watch. *checks pocket watch* Damn it, it’s not working. It’s never stopped before. What can be going on? *taps pocket watch*
Death: I’m afraid time has stopped for you… permanently.
Old Tut: So, no death for me if I can just fix this pocket watch?
Make Old Tut Tweak Pocket Watch- 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp

A Father’s Father’s Father Pt. 4
Old Tut starts

Old Tut: Afternoon, Groundskeeper Willie. It’s nice to meet a fellow Scotsman. Where are you from?
Willie: The Highlands.
Old Tut: I’m from the Lowlands! It’s a fight to the death.
Willie: *rips off shirt* With nothin’ but our bare hands…
Old Tut: And our tubercular lungs! Bagpipe battle! *pulls out bagpipe*
Make Old Tut Honor Simpsons Heritage- 12hrs, Earns $600, 150xp
Old Tut: You know your way around a bagpipe, Willie.
Willie: You’re not half bad yourself for an old timer. Will you join me in a glass of whiskey and a bite of the national Scottish food: the turnip.
Old Tut: Fair enough. But I warn ye, if I ever meet you in Aberdeen, I’ll pull your mangy red beard out by the roots.
Willie: For a Scotsman, that means you really like me.

And this concludes the premium dialogue for Week 1, of the Abe’s in Toyland Event!

  1. Willie: You’re not half bad yourself for an old timer. Will you join me in a glass of whiskey and a bite of the national Scottish food: the turnip.

Did he really say WhiskEy? Ay…..

  2. The Simpsons first full length episode Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire debuted thirty years ago today. Happy Thirtieth Anniversary to The Simpsons series.

  3. Dialogue good, content bad, very bad. I will not let EA Bah on my Humbug!!!

  4. Was it odd that Oswald J. “Old Tut” Simpson came with the Professor Simpsons Universal Panacea? Yes, when you go by canon that this Building is Orville Simpson’s due to the fact that’s where he taught ‘disciplining children’ (it was worth the sprinkles, regardless) 😊

I have to say getting these Characters made me re-watch (where said Characters are seen and/or referenced) –

Bart Gets Hit by a Car (10th Episode, Season 2)
Much Apu About Nothing (23rd Episode, Season 7)
    A Father’s Watch (17th Episode, Season 28)*
The Colour Yellow (13th Episode, Season 21)
Homer to the Max (13th Episode, Season 10)

*thanks Patric for referencing this, thanks Alissa for encouraging to look past the flaws and have fun 👍🏻

  5. I’m sorry, but it’s like they’re not even trying any more. These events are all the same, and nothing but click fests. They need to at least change up the format a little between events. Some suggestions:
    1. Involve more and different characters.
    2. Bring back some form of crafting to give you something to do besides click the same characters every 4 or 8 hours.
    3. How about rewards or prizes for visiting neighbors again, at least during major events. Neighbor visiting has become irrelevant, especially after you finish the prize track.
    4. In game cash needs to matter again.
    5. Do something with Springfield Heights. Give us more land there. Come up with some new buildings and businesses. Build an event around it.
    6. Start up a swap meet area where we can trade in all the stuff we will never use and is just piling up in our inventory. How about a Springfield Garage Sale event?
    Just a few ideas.

You’ve offered some good suggestions that I think EA should view on the official Facebook Page for TSTO (please post your suggestions there, I hope they get a good reaction and a response). .

I agree that the Event Format is stale …. and I feel there needs to be more going on to appease those who have missed the better interactivity in the past (I miss Visiting Neighbor Prizes, I miss the Prizes obtained when everyone Tapping generated together).

I accept that Crafting is gone, but I’m quite surprised that EA didn’t follow up like they did in October by offering up goodies for Simpsons $ (Item Limits – this is my true pet peeve, it’s one so many complain about as it forces you to put things in Storage).

Regardless of how much this Event isn’t Christmas (it’s not), I hope you find time to have fun … and yeah EA’s Staff for TSTO is a skeleton crew now (that’s painful to type out).
