Christmas 2019 (Abe’s in Toyland): Turbo Tappin’ Week 4, A Jazzy Xmas Special

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well, despite the new year…Christmas continues in our pocket-sized towns.  The snow got old a few days ago, and is now starting to turn black.  The residents of Springfield are daydreaming of Spring…and ready to pummel the next person who sings Jingle Bells.  However, finally, an end is in sight, as we reach the last week of our Christmas story…

As I’ve said before, Abe’s in Toyland follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it.  This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the event!

For Act 4 we’re tasked with collecting Old Fashion Cologne!  Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the first part of the story.  So let’s take a look at the details behind Week 4 and the Turbo Tappin’ Version for A Jazzy Xmas Special…

  1. My choice to rush thru Act 4 / Week 4 isn’t over criticism of the Event Prizes thus time (I honestly feel this Week redeemed last Week’s lackluster), or the fact those Silver Tokens are 12 🍩’s (well, that part of this Game App is getting stail!) …. it’s the fact January 2020 means C.E.S. here in Las Vegas and I’m going to be busy busy busy!

I did take the time to enjoy the Character dialogue (no spoilers, it plays out, just read it and decide for yourselves). I skipped on this Week’s Premium Character Building Combo (yeah it’s from a Christmas Episode, but a quick gag that isn’t memorable) for the 2nd time – a Noob may benefit, but I think there are better offerings in the regular Mystery Box.

This isn’t the BEST Christmas Event ever (something tells me EA is going to have a difficult time trying to better what was Epic years ago). This isn’t the WORST. IF it leads one to a New Year Resolution (don’t ever have one unless you want to set yourself up for failure (lol!) keep the zero expectations intact and enjoy what you can …. the Game App is still a virtual Zen Garden (Item Limits need increasing!), as well as an escape from Life temporarily (especially from the uncertain situations happening in the News).

    ✌🏻to all around the 🌎

  2. I’m disappointed that throughout the event all the quest jobs were at the Simpsons House and that all the characters were the same in all 4 acts. Maybe if Vandersniff and Whiffly’s is unlocked then all the cologne earning characters would go there instead of the Simpsons House in week 4, the toy company in week 3 and Carnaby Street in week 2 (not sure a location on week 1).

As a Christmas event it wasn’t the best one (the last 2 were outstanding imo) but as a new year event after Christmas it probably would’ve worked well because babies can be associated with the new year but new seniors would have been a different take on the new year.

I got the cologne store not that long ago and I can’t wait until I get Rita and the apartments (depending on the size might look good next to Bachelor Arms as a contrast to each other).

    • Santos

Remember what Patric said “nothing is to scale in this Game App” (one of his best rants that cleverly points out the obvious with regards to Building sizes) and I won’t spoil it …. just glad we get Character Tasks at Buildings that are permanent. 👍🏻

      • Yeah, I nearly forgot about that saying, scaling in the game doesn’t bother me unless its very obvious and I like to think that items are bigger on the inside than the outside. I’m happy with permanent tasks at buildings since they get used and can have a cool animation, even better if an event character prize like Rita or Philip has a task at an event building like the apartments and toy company.

  3. Worst xmas event ever.

  4. I usually only plat TSTO on Halloween and Christmas…this has got to be the worst Christmas event. Most stuff is not really Christmas-y. In-game cash stuff is from last year. even the elf singers cost 10 dough. Having two items from the Christmas box per week is nice, but not all of them are very exciting. I finally got something more Christmasy today after weeks of horrible luck. I think what I missed the most was some special new decorations for in-game cash. 🙁 oh…and was not it snowing in the past years too?I cannot remember if there was an actual snow falling down from the sky but I feel like there was? le sigh…

    • fwiw i’m glad it isn’t snowing in the game… As i recall whenever the snow was falling (or leaves were blowing in autumn) the game got a LOT slower and I had to put some items away for performance to be tolérable.

    • theuncannygirl

Soundtrack – definitely missing one this year … and not just the ‘snowing effect’, I sure miss the ‘ice road’ land tiles (at least there is no discord like Pagan Christmas brought in TSTO Addicts).

      Here’s to a better 2020 👍🏻

  5. EA could add a new function near the end of an event to have an option to end the event early especially one as boring as this.

    • Ha ha, couldn’t agree more. Got to be the worst Christmas Event ever.
Saying that, it is still better than no game at all.
Wonder what is in store for us this year ?

      • John Millar

        Not the Worst
        Not the Best
        2019 was missing Christmas-y Content
(or an opportunity to do an Event for Hanukah, or Kwanzaa, Ramadan, etc)

It’s ruined by an Event Format that’s stail – Christmas used to debut a new Event Format (I think we’re all disappointed this didn’t happen)

We can’t defend EA’s decisions anymore (or lack of doing anything to address Game App issues).

    • Keith Rooney – You can always just stop playing the event on your own. (gasp!) I’ve skipped events or parts of them and nothing exploded.
