Should I Spend Donuts on the Martian Vacation, Retired Homer, and Empty-Nest Marge?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Gather ’round the tapping device everyone, it’s update time in TSTO!  And there’s no time like the present for the residents of our pocket-sized Springfields to make New Year’s Resolutions…even if we are 16 days into 2020 already!    Of course, an all-new mini-event means all-new premium content in our stores, just tempting us to drop those pink sprinkles!

As we all know, that limited-time label can tempt us to grab everything in sight because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Martian Vacation, Retired Homer, and Empty-Nest Marge to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this blast from holidays of future passed combo to your town…

Pros
h-Each character Helps with the event, earns a special premium rate
-Both characters come with their own questlines (2 total)
-Task at South Pole (prize with this event)
-Visual task at Martian Vacation

Cons
-Limited visual tasks, they each only have 1 individual visual task
-Several tasks are joint tasks (Martian Vacation South Pole)
-They’re just aged versions of Homer and Marge, nothing crazy “new” about them
-Martian Vacation earns nothing.  No bonus.  No income. Nothing.

Final Thought
So from a practical standpoint, this bundle doesn’t really scream “BUY THIS!”  In fact, with everything we’ve learned about TSTO over the years, this bundle screams “RUN AWAY!”.  Nothing really unique, lots of joint tasks, limited visual tasks, and let’s face it…the Martian Vacation is just a pile of dirt.
HOWEVER, I still like it.  Why? Nostalgia.  It’s Future Homer and Future Marge, and the future episodes are some of my favorites.  Besides, how could Springfield have Rockstar Maggie, Mooch Bart, President Lisa, and even Zia Simpson without Future Homer and Marge?  It just doesn’t seem right.  Plus, Empty-Nest Marge is probably ok with Zia calling her Grandma…more so than regular Marge.

Of course, in the end, it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do…and I picked this bundle up, almost immediately.  Nostalgia alone. But whatever you decide, just make sure you make your final decision before it leaves our games for good (or for now).

  1. Game down?
When I try 2 log on, it blinks off
    (iPad)

  2. Definitely worth having to complete the future Simpsons, donut farmer or not. The Mars site can go near my other one when I get the time. I tend to not design intricately and enjoy it more that way. Also, I have gotten the Bart screen again, but not near like before.

  3. Am I the only person having problems getting the update? I’ve been trying for a bit now and the game downloads but then crashes during the install.

  4. My town has changed dramatically since Halloween. It was coming along all year after getting the golden goose but Halloween (wailing walls) really sped it up, I now have everything in the year book and am starting to build up money, I nuked about a month ago but got a lot back in place pretty fast but now I’m doing a complete reshuffle of everything in my town, trying to make it as Accurate and pleasent to look at as I can . I’ll buy anything new no matter what it is as there’s no reason not to. I completely stopped kem farming and just do blood mobiles when I want donuts I realised the kem farming took up so much time and I’ve got money to burn now so don’t mind the wastage.

  5. I have one (okay two, but the joint tasks aplenty was already described) problem with this event and these two: the event up till at least step 2 has you sending old H&M on EIGHT HOUR TASKS instead of letting them work on premium event currency income immediately. For 100 currency rewards it means you get maybe 1 premium currency task each out of them before they’re shoved back into another 8 hour task.

  6. Well with 30K in donuts I pretty much buy everything. Farming nets me 400-900 donuts a day. I get so much that I’ve stop farming so much as I have nothing to a pend donuts on.

  7. I got it for the characters. It annoys me that the color is a little off from the martian colony.

  8. I bought it to put next to the mars colon. I wish they had offered a few more of the old interdimensional travelers. Mooch Bart was the only one I hadn’t picked up from the YB and assorted MB’s this past year.

  9. Definitely bought it. And President Lisa, since I missed her the first time around.

My donut spends are all centred around Nostalgia/classic characters, so there really wasn’t a question for me on these. Helping out with the event was just a bonus.

  10. As a pretty new player, I’m happy with everything about these characters. I’m even more happy that several characters not in the Yearbook, like Mooch Bart and President Lisa, are available to purchase too. My strategy for buying characters is 1) do I know this character? and 2) that’s it. That’s why I skipped Abbey and insta-bought Krusty the Christian during the holiday event.

Off I go to farm farm farm the next two weeks away. Gots to get me those premium characters!

  11. Even if your only motivation is to be contrary to Patric’s beliefs, it’s a buy.

  12. I spend the most expensive currency of them all, even more expensive than Donuts… MY TIME… so yeah instant buy when it came out… brought out some stale donuts I had around and used it to “buy” old Homer and Marge… 🙂

  13. Martian Vacation – getting stored as soon as it’s use as a Task is done (we’ve had better, we’ve had worse as Dumb Decor)🤷🏼‍♂️

Retired Homer and Empty-Nest Marge – their both voiced (yay ♥️) , yeah you only get 1 Visual Task between them (but both are amusing), I found the Tasks these Characters have outside of earning Event Currency more rewarding. Worth the sprinkles spent (for me). Am I tired of the various Characters in different age groups? (yes! I’m over it!) Glad it’s not Character Skins? (yes! like NPC’s we have enough (lol!) 👍🏻

  14. At this point, I donut farm and buy everything.

  15. Rusty Shackleford

Instant buy. Why? Well I have donuts banked up so gotta spend them on something.

But seriously, just glad there was an update to the game.
