Holidays of Future Past Prize Guide: South Pole to Heathrow

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Update time in TSTO!  Time for the first official update of the New Year!  As the latest mini-event in TSTO hit our towns…this time to celebrate the New Year…?  I guess Santa didn’t give EA that calendar I said they needed for Christmas.

Remember, this event is designed to follow a series of tasks via the questline to unlock prizes.  For each of the parts of the Holidays of Future Past questline, you’ll have to earn  via various character tasks in order to unlock the prize for that part.

So let’s take a look at prizes 1-3, the South Pole, Lofts at Springfield Elementary, and the Heathrow Teleportation Departures…

First up, the South Pole…

How You Get it:

Once you’ve completed the task you’ll automatically be awarded the Pole…

And that’s it my friends, the details on prizes 1-3 of the Holidays of Future Past mini-event!  There’s a bit more to the Ultra Net, so I’ll cover that in its own post.  And, as always, the prize track characters will be covered in their own post as well.

Thoughts on the first 3 prizes?  Have you unlocked them yet?  Where have you placed them in your Springfield?  Design plans?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. The South Pole is an interesting looking decoration which would look good with some dirt, cactus patches and extra camels maybe in a desert, Egyptian or western area of town. The animation with the camel spitting made me laugh. I was a bit surprised that future Homer and Marge didn’t have their task here visual. 🏜️🐪🌵
It’s nice to have a skin for a building or decoration since they’re quite rare with the last one being in the babies event for Bart’s Treehouse. I like that the animation is different at the Lofts at Springfield Elementary instead of just the flag waving at SE, the silhouettes in the windows look like there’s someone showering, exercising and watching TV. 🏫🚿📡
The Heathrow Teleportation Departures looks like it would work by the airport but in my town I’ll probably have it in a future area since I stored my airport a while ago. I would like to have more departure gates to put next to each other. The sound from the HTD sounds like the space shuttle from the Deep Spaced Homer event. I was surprised the animation wasn’t someone teleporting but has the green glow and flash instead. ✈️🛃🚀

  2. If you’re a Long Time Tapper who’s interested in Decor that increases your Bonus %, offers a permanent Character Task (or Characters Tasking), doesn’t take up too much real estate (freed up space to accommodate new Content is equal to Item Limits – and there’s zero excuse why EA hasn’t increased both!), your Comform-o-Meter is already max’d out, Decor that doesn’t generate XP or $ (like a Building), another Building Skin (for a Building that still doesn’t have a Holiday Skin which Tappers have begged for, but now has 2 extra Skins?) …. then chances are you’re “meh” about the following Event Prizes (which eventually get Stored):

    [1] South Pole
    [2] Lofts at Springfield Elementary
    [3] Heathrow Teleportation Departures

Or, as I’ve said before, “this is dumb” and here’s why …. dumb Event Prizes do not encourage Tappers to participate in a Mini Event (or Weekly Events) …. dumb Event Prizes make you either ignore an Event, or rush thru an Event (via sprinkles) just to get to the Prizes that are worthwhile (if there are any) ….. or you only concentrate on new Premium(s) and this makes TSTO as a Game App dumb (I do take the time to compliment EA when they deserve it, I’ll even give them a shout out when they offer up new Premium(s) I can appreciate, but as I started saying in October 2019? I will no longer defend what’s dumb – be it dumb Content, dumb execution of an Event, dumb decisions to keep a “tired format” that needs to be replaced with something new).

    • Yup…I skipped this event also. With item limits in place, I have no interest in working for stuff that is of less value than what I already have. Anything new being placed means that something else has to go. Soooo…any new prize has to be appreciably better than this bunch. Maybe the next event will be worth playing…we’ll see. 😕

      • We’ve gone from “plopping until I can go back and redo a section of our Springfield” to “Stored until I can find a place to put it” to “Stored because of Item Limits I need to Store other Content to make space for it” to “Content not worth it, so I don’t participate in the Event” (yeah, that’s EA mismanagement taking things down a notch until it sucks the fun out and so glad we’re not defending this stupidity).

  3. I don’t understand why they’d bother giving characters a task at locations that don’t have any additional animation, seems like a waste- especially characters with so many tasks already like Homer, Bart and Lisa- just junks up their already over crowded task list.
Seems like they could at least have given us two teleportation terminals, that did actually teleport- EALP!

    • Thank you (we’ve got great Teleportation Decor, along with Stephen Hawkings and Professor Frink, that could’ve been included in this Mini Event – come on Writers! you could’ve coached EA thru this!)

I can’t defend the dumb decisions by EA, I can give a 👍🏻 when a Tapper offers up a suggested idea that would’ve made this Mini Event great by not relying on the same Characters doing the same thing.

  4. I need advice please. My game is crashing every time I open it now. It is not even getting to the splash screen. The only thing I have done differently is I just purchased most of the land with my land tokens. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

If you haven’t inquired with @EAHelp on Twitter (and you can), then the following questions are going to be asked by customer support.

      How much RAM
      How much ROM
      What OS
      What type of device
      What device

EA will probably narrow it down to lack of RAM (anything lower then 3 Gigs of RAM is pushing it, 4 Gigs or more will improve game play), or ROM (32 Gigs sounds like a lot until you run low in space due to the Content taking up space on your device, time to put in a micro SD card with another 32 to 64 Gigs), or App cache that needs to be cleared (you can manually do this), or OS (is it me, or are Kindle devices running into more problems due to lack of support between Amazon and EA? also, devices running an old OS of Android aren’t working) and that may need to deleting and reinstalling the Game App.

      hope this helps

  5. It’s amazing how many tappers moaned about the 6 week format & the crafting ( generally ), where now many will be glad to see them back.
Personally I think 4 weeks is about right but a change in format would be welcome, Inc neighbour interactions, mini games within the main event etc.

    • I agree 👍🏻

It won’t matter if an Event is 4 Weeks, or 6 Weeks if it is dumb and not engaging.

We miss certain aspects of game play, because it engaged creativity (well we didn’t have a lack of free Land, or lack of increased Item Limits to hinder game play) and interaction with our Neighbors.

  6. YES… the 3 items above suck… useless.. the first one is not even the same tone to the “sand” land tile we have, so it looks out of place even on a “dry” area patch…. But it is new content at least, and I am happy about that. I do have a Desert/Egypt kind of area and that’s where some of this stuff is going to… Façade and decoration does seem out of place…

in response to Jarvis: EA should change event formats per event… maybe that way people could have their cake and eat it too…

    • I’d be happy if EA retired the format for Events / Mini Events and introduce a new format.

I’d be less likely to say “these Events Prizes are dumb” if more thought went into them (the Premium(s) have to compliment the Event or they’re running the risk of being called dumb, too).

I’m glad we got an Event (finally), but I would’ve waited until the end of January for something brand new to engage Tappers.

  7. Very underwhelming set of prizes which actually match up with this mini-event. Hope this new calendar year they bring back some form of crafting in a six week period. Wouldn’t mind if they did so alternating 4 & 6 week events. Please EA open the land in Springfield heights so I can make it a haven for Springfield elite.

    • Crafting Buildings was awesome, crafting Decor that increases Bonus % is awesome …. making Crafting a part of moving an Event (and it’s not Content you want to Craft) ruins the game play (and here’s where I encourage Tappers to engage EA on Twitter, Facebook, etc – let them know what works for you).
