Black History Month 2020: Turbo Tappin’ Week 1, No Laughing Matter

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

I’m back, but I’m still playing catchup!  Between work and this site, it’ll be a neverending task to catch up on it all this week!  So, forgive me as I post content later in the week than I usually would.  Hopefully I’ll be all caught up by the time week 2 starts on Friday!

Anyway…

It’s update time in Springfield!  And after 8 years of TSTO, we’re finally tackling Black History Month!  No time like the present for EA, huh?   What’s in store for us this time?  Well, we’re tasked with finding out the history of Dr. Hibbert, Carl, Lou, and the Simpson Family!  Loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up.

Black History Month (Heroes of Springfield) follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it.  This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the event!

For Act 1 we’re tasked with collecting stethoscopes!  Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the first part of the story, Dr. Hibbert’s history.  So let’s take a look at the details behind Week 1 and the Turbo Tappin’ Version for No Laughing Matter…

  1. Wow! What a ridiculous grind.

  2. Well, I have more fun while reading this comment section, than tapping in the game. On Saturday I couldn’t take it anymore, so I decided to force this first act to an end. I converted a lot of ingame money into the donuts and rushed all the jobs. That wasn’t fun but at least I don’t need to do these 4-hour cycles anymore. I prefer to open TSTO once in a day. After I bought god character everything became much easier. Now I am just waiting for second Act. Dunno. Maybe I will do the same thing. It was quite good to have more free time during the event, especially such a long one.

  3. Did anyone else see the extensive piece on The Sims in the Washington Post today?
Apparently EA’s most successful game and they are throwing lots of money and effort into keeping it “fresh” and entertaining!
    Is TSTO that much smaller?

    • The Sims has been around forever (i remember playing it on my PC in middle school)…that’s probably why it’s the most successful

    • Yes I did 👍🏻
Alissa is correct in that The Sims is basically EA’s bread & butter (on par with Nintendo and Mario Bros)

  4. This is the event that never ends.
It just goes on and on, my friend.
Some people started tapping it, not knowing what it was.
And, they’ll continue tapping it forever, just because
This is the event that never ends…

  5. Quick question – I got the Martin skin prize several days ago but I don’t see his costume skin when I scroll through Martin’s skins and I’ve looked all through all inventory categories but it’s just not there. Is it just me or is there some process that one has to go through for the skin to appear? There is no quest line for it in my task book. Thanks for any feedback.

  6. I am more than a regular player, but these requirements are too high even for a non-regular player. With the previous collecting requirements I usually finished the acts at Saturday ninght/Sunday morning (at monday morning if I were a bit lazy). Now I start collecting 5 times a day with all of the avaliable characters (I missed one at the weekend), but not even finished the 4th level (I’ll finish that today 8:00 PM) then I have less than a day to get 475 points? Ridiculous…

    • Dont forget act 2 doesn’t start till Friday. So 2 extra days

    • More Grinding, Less Rewarding 🤷🏼‍♂️

Alissa & Patric (last week) did point out that we get 9 Days to complete Act 1 (vs the usual 7 Days). But I agree – it is More Grinding, Less Rewarding – at least it feels that way until you finally get a Token & a new Character.

I’m curious to see how many sped thru it with 🍩’s , spent sprinkles on the Premium Character to help out thru Act 1, or decided not to participate (we still have options).

      • I bought the premium but I probably would have bought it anyway, I have already bloodmobiled enough donuts to buy all premiums as soon as they are available. I am not speeding up with donuts but I am now using the strategy cityscaper laid out in Patric’s Friday Filler math mayhem. It’s going to work much better than my previous strategy of trying to stagger the times (ugh) I send characters on task when I only need a few characters to complete a prize and want to start remaining characters on the next prize. So a big Thank You to cityscaper! One thing I’d add is my Hibbert Family Practice is right next to my Hospital so I stored my IRS building to eliminate the tap radius and possibly lose the benefit. Good Luck Fellow Tappers.

        • I bought the Premium Character (more rewarding in the long run then most of Act 1’s Prizes).

Like you, I’ve got plenty of 🍩’s (over 3000) so I will invest in all Premium Combos for this Event.

I half rushed with 🍩’s because of work (and I’d Farm them back quickly).

This is still More Grinding, Less Rewarding 🤦🏼‍♂️

  7. Ridiculous…

  8. On the last task, 475 stethoscopes collected over 4 hour is just to much, after 4 events it’s going to be to much for players to bother, don’t know how I got this far.

  9. It’s only part one of this event, and it’s already obvious to me that this is what I call a “Maggie Event” (suck suck, suck suck). The 4 hour tasks are a neverending grind, and the EA-holes now want so many rounds of these tasks, that it has gotten ridiculous. Yes, more characters are eligible, and yes, each part of the event is supposedly longer than the usual 7 days, but it just seems overwhelming – and no fun at all. I doubt I will finish everything before the next part starts. I know I can keep working on part 1 during subsequent parts, but future parts will no doubt require just as much time and effort, so it will be impossible to catch up. You want to know how I know EA is killing this game for me? When I have more fun going to this page, and reading the posts and comments, then I do going into the game for another round of grinding.

  10. Although I completed Act 1 last Friday (yeah weekend off from TSTO), I found Act one to be 30% rewarding overall …. hopefully, Act 2 will improve Prize wise (and FYI I did get Act 1’s Premium Character Building Combo, knowing the Character and Building have nothing to do with each other). 🤦🏼‍♂️

We Tap for a reason (to earn new Content, to Farm 🍩’s, because we’re addicted to sending Characters on Tasks (lol) …. but Act 1 didn’t encourage Tapping with most of it’s Prizes (yeah they were all new Content, yeah most of them were dumb, and nope I’m not supporting a 4 Hour Character Task as a Prize) until you get to the Token and the new Character. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am still removing Springfield Heights Content to make room for anything New that’s not getting Stored (so I’m glad to have a couple of Days to complete this before Act 2 starts). Objectively, I will be glad to get anything new to appreciate (or complete a Prize Bracket), because that’s basically it from now on unless EA does increase Land / Item Limits. 👍🏻

  11. as of this afternoon i have exactly 2 of the prizes in section and really couldn’t care either way.

    • I appreciated the new Character (Prize and Premium), the Premium Building I’m still waiting for Future Bart to have a Task at (any day now EA), and let’s see what we get new this Week

    • Jeepo1……..I’m right there with you . And to top it of the first prize was some stupid sign, that you can’t even move around. Major Sucks ! 😠 😎

  12. Thank You for telling me what the “animated task” was because truthfully I couldn’t tell who it was supposed to be for by the picture alone & the game gives zero pop ups telling you about the task after earning it.

  13. My animated job isn’t working/showing up anywhere…any suggestions?

  14. The stethoscope count for certain items in the prize track, seem a bit “out of line” to anyone but me? I think two were 400, and this last one I’m working in is 475??? I figure this is why they needed a bit longer overall but…why not just less currency required and shorter event?

    • Welcome to the insanity that I talked about in my Filler on Friday. There is no reason for it. Higher limits…longer periods of time. But, really require you to tap a lot. Lazy and punitive.

  15. I got GGR today for my second Springfield ( and the one I spend most time in now )
Seems I’m a day behind on the first act according to Patrics schedule, anyone else struggling to keep up?

    • Yup, I’m a full day behind; it’s making me anxious!

      • Don’t panic, obtaining the Premium Character for each Act will help you …. and yes they only collect extra Event Currency for their respective Acts (ie Dr. Julius Hibbert’s Dad = Act 1).

        More Grinding Less Rewarding 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • I’m still only halfway to getting the animated job, because I have a life, and selfishly, I like to sleep every night. I bought the GGR when it was first offered. Is it still 200 donuts this time around?

      • 150 then and 150 now.

        • It was 150 donuts last time as well? I seem to recall it being 200. I guess my brain is anesthetized from all the repetitive 4 hour tapping. At least it is no cheaper now than before. That would be annoying, since it is pretty clear the GGR will never be in one of the vaults or mystery boxes, and must be paid full price for, whenever it is offered.

    • I am miles behind because I refuse to play on this game more than 3 visits a day, it has just become too boring I’m afraid.
Bring back a format that you require at least two brain cells & I’ll play more often.
