Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s update time in Springfield! And after 8 years of TSTO, we’re finally tackling Black History Month! No time like the present for EA, huh? What’s in store for us this time? Well, we’re tasked with finding out the history of Dr. Hibbert, Carl, Lou, and the Simpson Family! Loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up.
Black History Month (Heroes of Springfield) follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it. This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the event!
For Act 3 we’re tasked with collecting Police Badges! Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the third part of the story, that time Lou was a hero!
So let’s take a look at prizes 1, 2 and 3 Black History Prize track…Bully Crowd, Bully Bus, and Cretaceous Park…
First up, the Crowd of Bullies…

Other Info: Unlike the Presidential Kids from Act 2, if you want more Bully Crowds you can purchase them in the store after you unlock it. They’re 10 donuts each (no bonus %)

The Crowd of Bullies is an ok crowd decoration but I’d say the Presidential Kids is more better in terms of making them work in a design. The Bully Bus is the third bus we have in the game, it has a nice little animation when tapped with the headlights flashing, the spit balls and spray cans are a cool touch. I plan on putting the bus with the crowd so it looks like they’re guarding it. I got Cretaceous Park last night and built it this morning, nice to see Mooch Bart has a task there (like President Lisa has with the Ultranet). The animation surprised me but the task does explain the first part of it. The park is huge but at least the dinosaur items from a few years ago can work with the park. It was great to finally get a building prize. 🤓🚌🦖

“Regular” Bart is busy earning event currency, but when my characters come off of their current 24-hour tasks, I’ll try to remember to send Mooch Bart over to check it out!
I don’t know whether to be insulted by the lack of anything Black History Month by this Event, or by the dumb Event Prizes, or by the awful way Dr. Julius Hibbert & Carl Carlson & Police Sargeant Lou are utilized in each Act, or by the lack of continuity and cohesive (maybe all of the above!)
I.
I do feel EA was more than L-EA-Z-Y, they were ignorant by not taking the time to do more with Dr. Julius Hibbert & his Dad (maybe give us Hibbert’s Brother – that unnamed Twin who is the Director of the Shelbyville Orphanage – yeah that’s 1 Character $ 1 Building which ties in Characters and offers enough continuity Act 1 needed!)
No, we get the MovingOn Building with no Task for Future Mooch Bart , we get Martin dressed up as the continent of Africa, (nothing Black History there) and Clarissa Wellington (ok, 1 Character, but getting thru her Tasks featured terrible dialogue I wouldn’t consider Black History Month!)
II.
Carl Carlson, aka Homer & Lenny’s best friend forever! We get a new Visual Character Task – which is great if you have Carl’s Dad Caverns (but really sucks if you don’t!) and sorry, but if Visual Character Tasks are the sort of Event Prizes we will get this year? I’m not grinding (or expediting with 🍩’s) for it!
Another missed opportunity for Act 2 where EA should’ve introduced his Sister – Carlotta Carlson – along with the Something’s Fishy (a Boat he co-owns with Homer and Lenny). They could’ve wrapped it up nicely with his adopted Father – Carl Carlson, Sr. – and Mother – Sigrin Siguðardóttir-Carlson …. but we get more non cohesive Event Prizes that have nothing to do with Carl!
Granted – we got Stogie, except he should’ve come with a piano (instead? he’s offered up with the Hard Lad Nightclub – along with zero continuity – as this Building should’ve been offered up with Future Nelson and there’s nothing Black History Month about that!) We got Opal (with dumb Tasks), along with Abraham Jedediah Simpson the 1st (with even dumber Tasks) – but none are involved with Carl in any Episode I’m aware of.
III.
By Act 3, I appreciated that EA let you use all of the Premium Characters in this Event to earn Event Currency for any of the Acts (that was a cool new feature, but what isn’t cool is you’ve got nothing worth Grinding for!) I had high hopes that Police Sargeant Lou would be paired with some things relevant, but I guess continuity and cohesive are too much to ask for (along with something considered Black History Month!)
We could’ve had Lou’s story involving his ex Wife (Amy), as well as his ex girlfriend (Charquelle, briefly referenced when he’s interigating the kids at the Elementary School) being new Characters introduced to TSTO ….. nope! We get Bully Boss Chester and Event Prizes referencing The Warriors movie homage from an Episode EA is still milking for content (not what I’d call Black History Month – or relevant to Police Sargeant Lou – you’d think Cretaceous Park would’ve come with Future Nelson, but nope!)
We did get the Patriarch and the Mega Church (finally, a Character and Building with Tasks that are cohesive – still no continuity with Police Sargeant Lou – but I feel this Black History Month enough compared to anything else so far!) I concur, unless Act 4 offers anything worth the effort? I might as well take a break from TSTO and go watch Blazing Saddles (1974), since it probably has more Black History Month to it than this Event (that movie got Richard Pryor into the Writers Guild, Cleavon Little went on to win an Emmy & a Tony!) 🤷🏼♂️

Yet another prize from the future set episodes being given out in an unrelated event – I guess they had a surplus from the earlier Days of Holiday Past mini event and are trying to give them out randomly in other events. Oh well, looks like a cool building and a new job for Mooch Bart! (if he doesn’t sleep through his alarm)
