Super Safi’s Monday Morning Musings 09 – Singing Sirloin

Morning Musically-Minded, Medically-Minded, Masticators!

(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “M”)

Over the past 600+ episodes, The Simpsons has taken us on an amazing journey involving music, science, and food to name a few concepts.

And what better way to start your week, then by discussing some of these concepts Monday morning?

So let’s get started this week by recapping some lyrics from the ninth episode of The Simpsons, featuring the musical talents of the Singing Sirloin staff.

In the ninth episode of The Simpsons, Life on the Fast Lane (Season 01, Episode 09), Bart and Lisa prepare breakfast in bed for Marge’s birthday. During the surprise Homer thinks it is his birthday but quickly realizes he has forgotten Marge’s birthday. He quickly hurries downstairs, jumps in his car and drives to the mall. At the mall, Homer explores gift options for Marge before ultimately buying a bowling ball that he covets.

The family then heads to the Singing Sirloin for Marge’s birthday dinner, where we see the huge wait staff serenading the restaurant patrons.

While there were a lot of foods featured in this episode for which I could provide recipes, or I could muse about the game of bowling, I have decided to focus on the staff of the Singing Sirloin:

Singing Sirloin

As you can see from the image above, Mr & Mrs Winfield celebrate their
wedding anniversary to the  tune “…oh we danced, on the night, we were wed…”.

A young man proposes to his very pregnant girlfriend  to the tune “…baby, what a lovely way to say how much I love you…”.

And lastly at a funeral gathering, guests sit through “…nearer my God to thee…”.

Now that we’ve strolled down memory lane to review songs from the Singing Sirloin, be sure to come back next week when we continue our Monday morning musings with the next episode of The Simpsons.

What’s your favourite Simpsons song? What about your favourite Simpsons birthday episode? Have you ever been serenaded at a restaurant? Sound off in the comments below. You know we love hearing from you.

  1. That last singing Sirloin pic with the large gettleman in a fancy restaurant, instantly reminded me of Mr. Creosote. Monty Python skit. I almost added the video but language and content maybe only for Python fans lol.

    • Mr Creosote, played by Terry Jones who sadly passed away recently, must be one of the best python sketches ever. However as you say may be a bit too much for some 😄

      I’m stuffed.

But it is only wafer thin.

  2. nice.. i like the stonecutters song… ‘we do.. we do’….

  3. I loved the musical version of Planet of the Apes.
“I hate every ape I see; from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z.”
