Black History Month Act 4 Is Live!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s officially after 10am here on the East Coast, and that means Act 4 of the Black History Event is live in Springfield!

Things kick off for Act 4 with some dialogue between Lou, Quimby, Wiggum, and Grampa…among others:

Quimby: Officer Lou, please accept this medal of honor… or bravery… or something. I can’t read the font.
Wiggum: Hey, I was there too!
Quimby: Here is a coupon for five percent off all kazoos at King Toot’s.
Wiggum: *impressed noise*
Quimby: Well, we’ve honored our hero for Black History Month. My job here is done. I’m going to Cabo.
Grampa: Hold it right there! I happen to know a great Black Springfieldian who deserves to be honored.
Quimby: For the last time, Disco Stu is not black. I believe he is Armenian.
Grampa: I’m talking about my ancestor, Virgil Simpson, ya idjit!
Homer: Sorry. He’s a little senile. I assure you, no Simpson ever did anything great.
Grampa: He invented an old timey pastry called wheel cakes, or as we know them today – donuts!
Homer: *gasp* Everyone shut up and listen to the story of the greatest man who ever lived!

This triggers the Act 4 questline, From the Mouth of Abes, and is followed by 4hr task for everyone to listen to Grampa, as well as a task to collect Act 4 Currency (350).  From the Mouths of Abes is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of the Act 4 prizes.

Let’s take a look at what else is in store during Act 4…

Here’s EA’s synopsis for Act 4:

Abe relates the tale of Simpsons ancestor, Virgil Simpson. How he hid out in a circus, met Mabel and fled north along the Underground Railroad, and invented…wheel cakes!

As I stated above, you’ll basically go right into the From the Mouths of Abes questline, which is what the Act 4 story will follow. This questline is how you’ll unlock the Act 4 prizes.

The currency we’re working on collecting for Act 4….

Wheel Cakes

I’ll lay out specifically what you need to do for each part in the turbo tappin’ post, but I don’t want any of you to get messed up with this.  So don’t forget to SCROLL!

  1. This event is just like all the other events since Xmas 2018: BORING! Too bad since the Black History theme is good and several characters who normally don’t participate like Carl, Lou, Dr. Hibbert and his wife play a role in the event. I sped through much of this event with dounts (I did get all the premium characters, BTW) as I’m so tired of these 4-hr grinds. I like a challenge but the 9-day cycles just don’t cut it.

My goal for this game is to max out my in-cash (I’m almost there with 41 billion). That way, I no longer have to login every day and send my characters on tasks and they will now wander around endlessly. It takes too long to collect all my cash & XP (especially with 24 hr tasks) and that Bart Screen of Death often pops out and I lose my XP bonus! Can’t even farm 5 Tiki Bars without Bart showing up! Have over 4,400 donuts due to farming. Even that is not as fun as it used to be.

I can go on and on about my complaints about this once-fun game, bird noise still heard on the splash screen, no “SELECT ALL” option regarding tasks (if I see another “Send All Springfielders to..” task, I’ll go crazy), no overhaul of the town census (why can’t I browse for a specific character?), certain characters not having solo tasks meaning their tasks require another character, no human skin for Maude, etc.

  2. The game is so buggy lately. My game crashes roughly one out of three times that I go through and finish jobs for the people in my town. I’m losing quite a bit of XP and donuts simply turning on the game and collecting. My phone is new (Samsung Galaxy Note 10); so, it isn’t an issue with the resources. It’s just another bug that probably won’t get fixed.

  3. After this update my husband and I noticed our characters all finish their tasks coming out of the town hall. Anyone else notice their characters completing jobs and all leaving the town hall?

  4. This event hasn’t been “meh”. That is being far too kind. It has been so craptastic, that I want to scream from the heavens, in language that would make McBain and the Sea Captain faint on the ground. I have been playing for 3 years, and this was by far the most tedious, time- consuming torment that I have encountered in the game. I have not finished the last segment of the previous 3 parts, and I’m sure I won’t finish the last segment of this last part either. I’m not buying any of the premium stuff; I’ll either get it from the Yearbook, or not at all. Therefore the only way to finish each part is to do 4 cycles of 4 hours a day. Are you kidding me? That means the first thing I have do as soon as I open my eyes is tap, the last thing before I go to sleep is tap, and I have to maintain a rigid schedule in between. If I was interested in being that disciplined, my clothes rack would still be serving its intended purpose as a treadmill.

The so-called prizes go straight to storage. I have gotten some decent stuff from the tokens, but the last characters I have yet to unlock. There had better be a chance for me to finish the last segment of each part, as has been the case for a long time now. If everything disappears on March 12, including the last jobs I am still working on, then I will probably take a loooong break from this game. And as has been pointed out, what is it with new characters that look just like characters already in the game, only with different clothes? Is the favourite dating site for everyone in this game Ancestry.com? And stop giving me the whole damn Simpson family at 15 different ages!

I haven’t farmed donuts before now, partly out of laziness, and partly out of guilt. But because one of the few premium items that I bought outright is God, I have plenty of game cash. My ethical aversion to farming is fast disappearing. Maybe the only way to overcome the tedium is with donuts – just not ones I buy. I know there are posts here about farming, but can anyone suggest the laziest way to do it, using game cash? You asked for it EA!

    • Yeah, buying and selling rat trap trucks or bloodmobiles to quicly level up. Turn your collider on for extra XP.. If you’re under level 939 you’ll get a donut every 500,000 XP, after that you’ll get a crack at 3 every million which sounds like a lot but you get a ridiculous amount from buying those 2 items. God made me into a farmer.

  5. Awful event, thinking seriously about quitting tapped out. I lik a challenge but this is ridiculous.grr

  6. I find it frustrating that only the items for part 4 and 5 are actually any good. The first 3 parts excluding the second week part 3 are just decoration. So it takes a massive amount of work to actually get any good prizes.

  7. Any idea why this act has started on wed when the others have started on fridays? I’ve struggled to keep up on this one, but managed to claw it back to be in track for Friday in keeping with the other acts. Somehow I’m still behind again. 😶

    • They’re 9 day cycles. Only 1 act started on a Friday.

Act 1 and event started on Wednesday. Act 2 started on a Friday (9 days later). Act 3 started on a Sunday (9 days later). And Act 4 started on a Tuesday (9 days later). The event ends on a Thursday. (9 days from now)

  8. If you’re one of those Tappers who’s –

spent sprinkles to rush thru Act 4 (I stopped at the 4th Event Prize, I can send Characters to obtain Event Currency once a Day for the next 3 Days & collect 12 🍩’s, then rush thru the last Prize)

truly feel these Events since Halloween 2019 are “meh” (we all share the same criticisms)

picked up the Premium Character Building Combos (they’re more rewarding than the Event Prizes, it’s easier to Grind – if you want to do that)

debated participating in this Event (or didn’t for many reasons)

truly feel there’s no reason to go forward until Item Limits are increased (making that “vacant space” adjacent to Springfield Heights available would be nice, too)

are actively looking at other Game Apps (and will start sharing)

got tired of having to Store most of the Event Prizes each Week (ie Act 4 ‘s Crematorium & Mabel’s Wagon are examples of what gets Stored)

Wasn’t impressed with the writing, tired of the lack of continuity, fed up with nothing being cohesive, over this lame Event format, this has really gotten dumb

Then I am 100% with you! EA, or Disney (or both) have ruined this Game App! What was once a virtual Zen Garden is a migraine! 🙄

    • Disney has absolutely nothing to do with this app.

    • I’m really only interested in other building type apps. What makes TSTO so enjoyable is knowing the characters and the (usually) fun dialogue. I only played Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow a few weeks before the seemingly endless little shootouts needed to move ahead got too tedious and content was exceeding available land so I just dropped it. I still have my Magic Kingdoms game installed but don’t play it for several reasons.
I have considered Forge of Empires, The Addams Family Game, maybe Lilly’s Garden (just one house?) or The Peanuts town builder (too juvenile?) Ebron’s SimCity looks beautiful but I’d lose out on those known character interactions. Reviews of games usually cite “too glitchy, giant money grabs- pay to play or endure ads, ads and more ads”.
I look forward to your findings.

  9. I’ve been able to get all the prizes before the next Act, but if EA was going to make it harder I wish they would also shake up the event format.

  10. Spent the doughnuts to speed my way through. Well worth it. I hate the grind, and there’s nothing to spend doughnuts on after buying everything offered in the event. 150 doughnuts? That’s nothing these days. I can earn 150 doughnuts in minutes (rat trap delivery trucks, etc). Heck! I earn dozens of doughnuts a day just checking in twice a day.

This event was awful. I can say with all honesty that this was by far the worst event ever. Nothing but grinding (unless you spent the doughnuts like me).

    • I won’t go that far in saying this was the worst ever (some of us still remember the Great Prize Wheel Hell of 2014-2015), but it is definitely a massive letdown. What (IIRC) comes as our first Black History Month event, and it’s nothing but a massive grind that almost requires the premium characters to finish everything? Bleh…

  11. Since Mabel Simpson looks just like Marge Simpson – does this mean Homer and Marge are related? Gasp.

    • I think this episode creates one of those, “This is the least of our problems” kinds of situations. I shiver to think how the genetics from those two created spiky haired yellow kids down-line.

      • Patric – Well, genes do mix in mysterious ways….

Mabel looks pretty yellow to me, so there were yellow-producing genes from her. Must be dominant genes even more strongly expressed than melanin-producing ones since Virgil and Mabel’s kid looks yellowish. Since both Homer and Marge had her as a common ancestor, makes sense that they and their kids are both yellow.

Now the real question is – what is the benefit of yellow skin? Dark skin protects against sun damage. Does Simpson-yellow skin protect against anything? Most people in town have it. Are they all related to Mabel Simpson? Double gasp.

  12. I’m just starting Act 3 so I’m guessing I won’t get to 4 before deadline. I’ve been playing for 5+ years and I think I’m going to close down my town. I’m tired and I’m pretty sure the tsto developers are tired because this event is the same old thing except harder.

    • The other option, is to just skip the rest of the event…and wait to see if they improve. This update/event is either an anomaly (and abomination) or it is the shape of things to come. In which case, if it is the latter, you won’t be the only one “closing up shop.”

    • Sounds like you just need a break. I didn’t play for a year due to other stuff going on in realspace, and everything was waiting just as I left it when I got the urge to start playing again. The Yearbook even makes it possible to pick up stuff missed from events.

    • MangoFusion01 (FKA NicoRox13)

For this event, you really need the premium characters. If you have acquired all 4, each act has gotten easier than the last. Although it is still a slug fest .

For those of you who are newer, it might be wise to look up some tips on donut farming.

    • You’re not missing much as far as Content goes. You have options to use 🍩’s to expedite and obtain the Premium Character Building Combo (which is more rewarding than the Event Prizes, yes they help with the Grind – but is doing that worth the time?)

It’s not going to surprise me as more stop Tapping and start suggesting other Game Apps.

  13. I’ve been completing all but the last section of each act so far this event because the last multi arc event (winter event) I was able to complete the last quest I’ve was working on at the time. Has every multi arc event been like this? Or should I just try to complete the last of the other arcs before continuing? Only because I haven’t completed act 3 yet.

    • Srfth – If that’s the one with blob Homer in it – I moved around to collect the special currency or whatever it was (how quickly we forget) and only went back to pick up later items after I had cleaned those out. I decided not to bother with blob Homer, who was the last item in one of the middle acts, I think.

The icon for the event in the upper right hand corner vanished on time, but the icon for that particular act remained in the task list. I was able to access the track from there. Since it didn’t disappear with the next update, I discovered as you did that I could actually finish it and collect all the stuff needed to get the blob. Then it finally disappeared from my task list.

We shall see if the same is true this time, since once again I am cleaning out the mystery box tokens first and then going back for the rest in order of how much I want the items in the prize track.

    • MangoFusion01 (FKA NicoRox13)

This has been what has iccured for quite some time. That is, allowing you to finish the task you are on. I stated this as a tip for the last couple of rounds.

Here is another tip. As you approach each prize in the track, you may find that you can get that prize by sending less then the full ensemble. When you have a few left over, send them on the act 3 quests. Depending on how many more widgets you need, you might be able to finish that line by the time you get your 4th prize in act 4.

    • How important is the Event Content for you?

Are the Black History Month Tokens worth it for you?

      Is Grinding rewarding?

Is just spending sprinkles on the Premium Character Building Combo more rewarding?

Ask yourself these things, you may find yourself not Tapping as much ….. and waiting to see what happens next.

  14. I have well over 6000 donuts thanks to KEM farming so blasted through this in 5 mins but like everybody else all I want is for EA to RAISE THE ITEM LIMIT, at least double would be a start, it would seem this simple request froma great many players is being completely ignored.

    • Agreed. 1000% agreed. I’d even settle for them raising it 200-500 every update.

      • I thought the main reason for the limits was because it would cause the game to slow down/lag on people’s devises. One of the reasons I removed tracks to stop the monorail from running.

        • Michaelk202- Whether there would a slowdown if they raised item limits depends on the device and how much room it has, its speed etc. It would make sense to raise the limits and just make people know how to fix the problem if they see a slowdown (store more of their precious stuff).

  15. The prizes this time are better since they are related to Black History in the Simpsons apart from the Crematorium Bot*. Its great to finally get Virgil in the game ever since his cabin was released 4 years ago. Even though the totals are 25 less than in acts 2 and 3, it still requires 4 to 5 collections a day without premiums.

*Does anyone know if the Crematorium Bot is the same as the Cremo Bot from the Days of Future Future tie-in in 2014?

    • From what I see… the new one is bigger and isn’t running 24/7 like the first Cremo. Both have the name Cremo on it but the new one when tapped on fires up and the arms wave around.

    • I think Act 3 had the best prizes. This act I’m interested in the 1st prize and the last and that’s it. Pretty sure I have a few hay wagons in inventory from when we could buy them at Halloween for in game cash. Idk what to do with my first cremo bot, let alone another one. It’s only out because it has a bonus %. Maybe I’ll make a robot museum.
It is nice to have Mabel and Virgil in the game, we can argue again about which way is really North in Springfield again so we can figure out where to put Little Canada.
