It’s update time in Springfield! And after 8 years of TSTO, we’re finally tackling Black History Month! No time like the present for EA, huh? What’s in store for us this time? Well, we’re tasked with finding out the history of Dr. Hibbert, Carl, Lou, and the Simpson Family! Loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up.
Black History Month (Heroes of Springfield) follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it. This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting a week and taking us through a new part of the event!
For Act 4 we’re tasked with collecting Wheel Cakes, as we finally get a little Simpson Family History! Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the final part of the story.
So let’s take a look at the fifth and final event prize…Virgil…

Zia Simpson: To help me with my family tree presentation for school. After that, I can put you in the Clone Recycler and you’ll go back to your previous state of, uh, “not existing”.
Virgil Simpson: Hm. “Not existing”. I see. Interesting. Pardon me a sec…Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Zia Simpson: Great-great-great-great-great Grampa, come back! Wait, that was one too many “greats”. It’s four, not five. Great-great-great-great Grampa, come back!!! *counting* One-two-three-four. Perfect.

Virgil Simpson: My God. The future is such a crazy place. Such tall buildings. So many horseless carriages. So many discarded scooters on the ground.
Frink: Excuse me, fine sir. I am a time traveller from the year 2020. Can you tell me what year it is?
Virgil Simpson: You’re from the past? Me too!
Frink: Ah, it is indeed a small world, universe, and space time continuum. Glayvin.
Virgil Simpson: You know, it really really is.

Frink: Heavens. A clone with implanted memories who is being hunted by a killer. That’s quite a story. I think I will go back in time, write a movie about it, and call it “The Runner, with the Blades, and the Hoivik, and Glayvinnn and the Running. So Much Running”.
Virgil Simpson: It can’t fail with a title like that. I assume. What’s a screenplay?
Frink: A waste of time, unless you have a star attached.
Virgil Simpson: Wow. In the future you have control of the stars?
Frink: Only agents and publicists do.
Virgil Simpson: Wow. They must be gods amongst men.
Frink: They certainly think of themselves that way.

Zia starts
Zia Simpson: G-X-4 Grampa. I found you!
Virgil Simpson: What did you call me?
Zia Simpson: G-X-4 Grampa. It’s an abbreviation of great-great-great-great Grampa. It’s shorter.
Virgil Simpson: By one syllable.
Zia Simpson: Right. Think of all the time we’ll save.
Frink: The math checks out! Tell me, child. Why did you bring this man-clone here just to hunt him and kill him, with the hurting and the chasing?
Zia Simpson: G-X-4 Grampa, I didn’t bring you here to kill you. I brought you here to find out more about the harsh realities of early African American history.
Virgil Simpson: Really?
Zia Simpson: It’s very important to document and pass down these stories. “Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it”. I believe the great Elon Musk said that. Or at least he claims he did.

Zia Simpson: Wow. What a tale. I’m glad I was able to record it. But I’m sorry I brought you here without really considering your feelings.
Virgil Simpson: Yeah, that happens a lot a couple hundred years ago.
Zia Simpson: I hope you can forgive me.
Virgil Simpson: You’re family, kid. Of course I can.
Zia Simpson: I’ll miss you, great-great-great-great Grampa.
Virgil Simpson: I’ll miss you too. And I’m gonna tell my son, your great-great-great Grampa all about you.
Frink: I would advise against that, as the space time continuum could shatter if—

Frink: Oh well, fingers crossed.

Zia Simpson: Like in Back to the Future 2?
Frink: No, not like that at all. Now tell me, where can I find a Sports Almanac store?
Zia Simpson: Sports don’t exist anymore. They were deemed too dangerous for humans to play.
Frink: *sigh* The mob is going to kill me.

I don’t think I got either Virgil nor Mabel but pretty sure I started the quests. How do I find out whether I have either characters and how do I contact EA about this?
Mabel was premium. So if you didnt spend donuts and buy her you dont have her
Virgil was the final prize for act 4. If you didn’t start part 5 of act 4 you won’t get him.
You can check you character collection to see if you have them.
Aside from the fact that Virgil doesn’t have a single task at his cabin, he is actually a pretty decent character (possibly EA saving the best prize till last). I like that he uses the Traveling Circus and Mabel’s Wagon rather than going to common buildings. It’s neat that he has 3 visual tasks compared to the usual 2 from characters. I wish Virgil had his own 24 hour task aside from the one with Mabel, maybe one at his cabin. His bake wheel cakes task might look cool next to Abraham Simpson I’s eating wheel cake task so its like Virgil baking the cakes then Abraham eats them. I like that Frink and Zia were involved in Virgil’s questline and Virgil being included in Mabel’s questline. 🇨🇦 🍩 💍
Thanks to the premiums [and some unwanted time off work- Thanks Coronavirus!] I finished all the acts with a comfortable margin and minimal rushing only when I needed a couple characters to get the next prize.
As usual there is a perspective problem with the Canadian crossing, Virgil’s Cabin and Mabel’s wagon. I had hoped to keep them grouped together and even though the wagon is about the same size as the cabin, I think I can make them work together with some clever placement but I don’t think I can make them work with the Canadian border crossing.
I’m still working through Mabel’s questline and just finished Virgil’s so I haven’t seen the visual tasks yet but looking forward to checking those out.
Virgil’s questline with Zia brought a little closure to the mystery of those Days of Future Future prizes ala’ Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure style, however ham handed.
Trying to complete Dinner for Two Part 3 but the quest is blocked. Besides Mabel and Virgil, does someone else need to be free to complete the quest?

You need the Springfield Lake to get through the quest part. It is the 3rd prize in the Springfield Heights.

If I am in the process of unlocking a prize, but the event ends, will I be able to still continue to unlock that particular prize like in previous events?
No I don’t think so
Yes you can, but only the prize you’re currently on, not future prizes. So for example if you’re on part 2 when the event ends you’ll be able to get that prize, but not part 3, 4 or 5’s prizes.
So it’s best to be on part 5 by the time the event ends
Not since getting Shary Bobbins on my last attempt have I been so nervous about getting someone. They did a great job of using the release date timing to pressure for a hurry up. First time ever that I was finishing each event after the next had started. Not sure I would’ve completed this one without using rat trap trucks.
First time in my “life” rushing an event with donuts (I only had 40 donuts after I purchased a premium character over a week ago). I’m an avid 4 hour player. I’ve been playing the game since the “Stonecutters”. This is the first time as an avid TSTO player, I felt it was unfair to the new and old players who didn’t buy or farm for donuts. This event was meaningful, but sucked in so many ways. I only had enough donuts to buy one premium character. I used to like when you ended a “week long journey” in an event, the last character you got “used” to help with the next week. Next time, think of the new players and old who don’t “know” the tricks to getting cheap donuts, & who literally cannot buy them. I truly think this event has made me give up forever on this game. The storyline was nice. I enjoyed it.

When exactly on March 12, does act 4 end? Not sure if I’m going to make it,
Go to the store and look at items available for this event. There will be a timer on how long items can be purchased. That corresponds to the events end.
Try to get to part 5 before then. You should be able to earn the prize that you are working on after the event wraps up.
How do we use tokens for donuts instead? Why cant i find that option in the store? Is it elsewhere?
I believe if you already have all the characters/decorations offered in a particular act…Your token can be used for 12 donuts

I’m not sure I will unlock Virgil now. This is the first event that I haven’t finished a single prize track (not yet at least). In previous events I’ve finished each one with a couple of days to spare but EA decided to make it more difficult this time and it has backfired as it is now too difficult.
I got hosed on the one with Caveman Moe, etc & it doesn’t look like I’m going to make this one either. 2nd time in nearly 8 yrs of playing. Not happy.
What? Are Tappers so over how bad the Event was that they don’t want to admit this is one of the better Event Prizes? 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah I wish he was voiced, but I 💜 his Visual Tasks (at least he gets a fun Task with Mabel Simpson).😀
He is far better than many of the other characters.
Because I really had no choice, if I wasn’t going to waste the coins I earned, I ended up getting Alcatraz and his mansion. Hate the stereotypical phrases his voiced character says…
On the other hand, I also got the nerds bundle. Which is hilarious. The white guys should stick to voicing the white characters. At least the edgier ones.
I forgot why I missed out on the University Nerds but they are funny (you win with a Token for those 3 with their Dialogue / Visual Tasks) … next to the Patriarch, Virgil Simpson is my favourite and then Mabel Simpson (sorry to say the other Characters weren’t developed better by Bob this time …. too many Brown House Tasks, or just not enough …. and you are correct, we don’t have a reason to Grind / Expedite).
I think it’s more the fact that people could tap every 4 hours and finally get the best character ever. I want Virgil Simpson! Right now I’ve “rushed” some characters to finish their jobs so when the event ends, I could possibly get him. If you’re not farming or buying donuts, this whole event was impossible, & all 4 stories were fun. I just WANT Virgil because he’s the “first” Simpson. He’s Grampas grandfather (or great, or great great grandfather, however Grampa Simpson declares it). This event was hard to complete. I spent a lot of “earned” donuts on a premium character during this event that left me at 0 donuts. I don’t care if characters are voiced anymore or not. I’ve heard that too much over the years.
Going forward …. it appears EA wants you to use 🍩’s (earned or purchased) if you don’t want to Grind for Content.
I will say Virgil Simpson is great as you can send him on Tasks to the Travelling Circus, or Mabel’s Wagon, or join Mabel Simpson at the Canadian Border (you are correct in that a majority of Characters in TSTO are not voiced ….. it’s just the voice talent behind these new Characters we obtained are worth hearing).
