And what better way to start your week, then by discussing some of these concepts Monday morning?
So let’s get started this week by talking about a jingle from the Simpsons, I Want to Go to Mt. Springfield.
In the thirty first episode of The Simpsons, Brush with Greatness (Season 02, Episode 18), after Bart and Lisa watch Krusty perform his show at the Mt. Splashmore water park (including sing a catchy jingle), they ask Homer if they can go there. Homer eventually gets annoyed, and reluctantly agrees to take them there. But misfortune strikes when Homer get’s stuck in the H2WHOA ride.
But have you ever wondered what song Krusty and the kids were ‘krooning’ along to that attracted Bart and Lisa to the waterpark?

The shameless promotion worked on Bart and Lisa and they subsequently pestered Homer in a classic scene from The Simpsons:

Homer: “No.”
Bart/Lisa: “Will you take us to Mt. Splashmore?”
Homer: “No.”
Bart/Lisa: “Will you take us to Mt. Splashmore?”
Homer: “No!”

Bart/Lisa: “Thanks Dad!”

I know there’s got to be more jingles from commercials to remember (a cereal brand, a restaurant, a theme park) but I’m too busy thinking how fun it would be to have an H2WHOA in the Game App! 👍🏻

Actually I was referring to “you deserve a break today”.
But on further research, he has quite the impressive resume. Including “I am stuck on band-aid”, “like a good neighbor…”, there are also jingles for Pepsi, stridex, KFC and others.
Talk about ear worms.
Yeah…Barry made almost as much money, and maybe more, from his commercial residuals, as he did from his records. I actually liked a few of his songs…but can’t stand to watch him perform. The worst dancer ever…
This is true , Manilow could retire just on his song writing royalties ….. we’ve all grown up on jingles that get stuck in back of our conscience forever (“you deserve a break today” – McDonald’s) 🍔🍟🥤
