The Van Houtens Mystery Box

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In Springfield, everything’s coming up Milhouse! Last year it was Flanders, this year it’s the Van Houten’s.  And what better way to celebrate Bart’s blue-haired friend than with a Van Houten themed Mystery Box?!

This is a premium box full of your chance to get those Milhouse inspired premium character/building/decorations.  By now we should all be familiar with how Mystery Boxes work, so let’s jump to the breakdown of what’s inside…

This Mystery Box is a great way to get items at a discount or something you missed out on from a previous event.

And…if you already have everything in the box you won’t see the box in your store.

The Mystery Box opens via Tokens.  You can earn tokens for free via the prize track, each Act has 1 token on it. (if you already have every time in the box you can convert the tokens to donuts)  You can also purchase tokens for dounts…

1 token for 60 donuts, or 5 tokens for 240 donuts (48/ea)

So for 1 token or 60 donuts (48 if you get the 5 token package), you can have your shot at a variety of Van Houten inspired premium characters, decorations, and buildings from recent past events.

  1. Does anybody know where can I find an unused token? I finished one of the quests and earned a mystery token but I didn’t use it immediately and I can’t find it. Thanks

  2. Do the tokens carry over to other events if I purchase them? Once the event is over, I will have 4 items left in the box so if I buy the 5 token pack will I have the last one for the next mystery box event or do I just lose it?

  3. Lucky for me, only things in there for me are 9 full characters I don’t have and one Milhouse costume (Radioactive one). Waiting until last week to see how many donuts I need to open up. I just realized how the railyard works for 5 donuts every other day at this point. Plus my multiplier and then donut farming once I’m at about 30 million in-game, won’t be a problem for me to open everything. Jeremy Jailbird was the first one that opened with the prize token.

  4. This is weird, my Sidekick Milhouse is not in the Mystery Box, but instead a returning item for the price of 35 donuts. Is anyone else seeing this?

  5. Can’t even sign in. Still saying EA error. Uggh

  6. Between item limits and now reach the maximum currency, as well as the game discounting 🤷‍♂️

  7. i don’t see the mystery box on my SPF… hmm.. i don’t remember seeing some of this characters either… hmm..

  8. I can’t remember the last time I got an event mystery box….I wish they’d throw a bone to folks who have been earning or buying all the stuff along the way? 🙁

  9. EA has corrected two of the Van Houten Mystery Box offerings. Allison Taylor is now listed with her house included, and Erik is now listed with the Dodgeball Court included.

  10. I got the Golf ‘n Die Retirement Home with Dondelinger for my Act 1 Token. Really happy with this as I love the building and Dondelinger is a cool character with a funny quest line and some decent animations. He’s voiced too!

Hoping for the skatepark/correctional facility/Zip Zap or skating rink for the next prizes 🙂

  11. Question – when quickie farming, is there any way to make them line up in a row instead of the diagonal line they make when tapping to build? Thanks!

    • I have seen neighbors line up rivers, or even roads. Carefully spaced, this will keep them in a line.

    • I go to the bottom left corner of my land that I kept open for this. Place the first one in the corner and they will stack. But, before you stack, make sure the one you placed is in the middle of your screen. Once you get it, works like a charm

    • You can use fences as well. They always try to drop in the center of your screen so if you center it well you can just drop them down a continuing line.

  12. I can’t really complain, because Golf ‘N Die Retirement Village w/ Principal Dondelinger was one of the few Premium Character Building Combos 1] I did not have
2] was not in the Regular Mystery Box
    3] wasn’t a returning Premium for 150 sprinkles

So, thank you, EA for giving me an opportunity to obtain this (yes it feels awkward grinding for one Token vs an actual Event Prize, but when you obtain Content from a Mystery Box that’s better than most Event Prizes? you just accept the Event Format). 🤔

There’s nothing left for me to obtain in the Van Houten Mystery Box, so there’s no reason to grind for 1 Token = 12 🍩’s (lol – maybe EA needs to triple that value per Token?) in Act 2 (and 3, and 4) which starts tomorrow! 😉👍🏻
