If You’re Having Issues Collecting Sunglasses, Note: Some of you are having issues earning sunglasses. The task to earn the Sunglasses has to take place at the Springfield Heights Theater. The files do indicate that the backup location, in case you haven’t yet unlocked the theater, is the Brown House. Unfortunately, there must be an issue with the coding because even with a Brown House and no Theater it’s not working. So, unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about it right now but contact EA or wait until they correct it with a patch. Odds are they’ll release a patch shortly once folks complain about it.

Who’s ready for more Van Houten fun? Act 2 of the Van Houtens has arrived!
Remember, this Act will still be playable until the event ends on September 16th. However, Act 3 will start on August 30th (note the Sunday start date).
Things kick off for Act 2 with some dialogue between the kids of Springfield Elementary, Milhouse and Annika…
Nelson: Whoa. Is that…Van Houten? With a girl?
Sherri and Terri: She’s pretty. And so mature looking.
Janey: Wait, which one of you said which part of that?
Sherri and Terri: I said she’s pretty. And I said she’s mature looking.
Milhouse: It looks like my plan is working. Everyone is smitten with envy at the sight of such a power couple.
Annika: Fine. Just don’t touch me.
Milhouse: Yes, milady!
Annika: That includes with your eyes.
This triggers the Act 2 questline, Sidekicked Aside, and is followed by 4hr tasks for Milhouse and Annika, as well as a task to collect Act 2 Currency (115). Sidekicked Aside is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of this Act’s prizes.
Let’s take a look at what else is in store during Act 2…

Now that Milhouse is the center of everyone’s attention, Lisa starts to become jealous and is having
difficulty dealing with Milhouse’s sudden popularity. And since Milhouse no longer has time to hang out

As I stated above, you’ll go right into the Sidekicked Aside questline, which is what the Act 2 story will follow. This questline is how you’ll unlock the Act 2 prizes.

There’s been an update so that you no longer need the Springfield Heights Theater to earn sunglasses. All characters are now sent to Springfield Elementary instead.
Act 2 choked my Kindle. All I get is the loading spin. I know I should report it to EA but I just don’t care anymore. This relationship is about over.

Unfortunately it has gotten to the point that even if you took to Twitter to hash things out with @EAhelp ? That small dedicated EA Staff would probably tell you to stop using a Kindle and start using another device (Android, Apple) …. I dunno what the problem is between Amazon and EA, but it sure feels like Kindle gets no Tech Support.
Any Tapper who has to leave the Game App due to their Devices OS will be missed, but if you manage to pick up an affordable Samsung Tab A 8″ ? Please come back and join whatever fun is left.

Unrelated to this event but I just unlocked the Gil’s deal “duff gardens”.
Anyone knows if the quest line (that rewards the duff gardens decorations) will trigger if I get duff gardens from the yearbook instead (it’s much cheaper)

Yes, buying from the Yearbook will let you play the quest and then generate the extras.
I might be in the minority but I’m really looking forward to unlocking these prizes. I plan on putting the Milhouse Squishee Machine, Gelato Stand and Sjoelbak Table in my Milhouse’s birthday party area. Cool Milhouse looks cool. The bus and Milhoose definitely fit in with the other Canadian items.
Question: Do you know if you can get multiples of any of the act 2 items? I’d love to have more gelato stands and squishee machines scattered around my town.
Another question: the issues with the characters collecting sunglasses, is that only the freemium characters that are affected or is it also preventing Kirkedemious and Milhoose from collecting sunglasses? I only asked out of curiosity since I don’t have either and wonder if they go somewhere else for the sunglasses.

So, Noobs, I hope you all have the Springfield Mall, because that’s a fun Task for Millhouse an Annika (it’s part of Act 2’s grind for Prizes) and it’s nice to see somewhere else besides the Brown House getting used.

CJBrownLV: Nice to know that there’s tasks at the Springfield Mall since it doesn’t get used very often. The Brown House is my least favourite location because of how overused it is by characters but at least its used as a backup location if a building isn’t unlocked.
I didn’t see any options to use Simpsons💲 or 🍩’s to purchase extras of Act 2’s Prizes (and no, if you manage to find uses out of anything? I’m glad to hear that! 😊 ) I just prefer Buildings, or Decor, that offer Character Tasks – especially Visual Tasks …. and this is where I respectfully gave EA a 👍🏻 for Act 2’s Premium Character Combo (Millhoose, eh! 🇨🇦)

Characters get sent to Springfield Mall (yay!), Brown House too many times (boo!), But not once to Van Houten’s House (what the deuce? an Event that’s supposed to take place at the Van Houten’s, but Characters don’t get sent there? that’s pure L-EA-Z-Y!) 🤷🏼♂️
You will 😂 at the Character Dialogue, you will 👍🏻 at the new Premium Character Combo (Milhoose w/Discouver Vancouver Bus), you will 👎🏻 at how much Event Currency to obtain for 1 Token / 12 🍩’s (155! – and here’s where I stopped expediting with 🍩’s today so that I could 🍩 Farm before getting another Bart Simpson Screen!)

I enjoyed the Questline with Millhoose , ’cause Act 2 so far has been a dud for me (yes I know I’m offering my opinion uber early, but I don’t defend Dumb and / or L-EA-Z-Y!) 🤷🏼♂️

Looks like the backup location listed isn’t triggering. Files show Brown House if you don’t have the theater, but there seems to be an issue with that backup happening.
So I will wait, because I didn’t worked too much on my Heights, I not so close to unlock the theater even that I have a 104 level city

Yes, this same situation is flooding both Reddit, as well as the official EA Help Twitter account …. I have Characters going to Costington’s to grind for Event Currency (if you have the option to purchase this Building w/Mr. Costington? do so and see if that helps!) 👍🏻

I have a problem with Act 2! It says that the building is not available and I can’t farm the sunglasses! What can I do?

Looks like all the comments on reddit you need the Springfield heights theater and I don’t even have it.. why would EA send you to lock location that most people probably don’t have or even touch the heights mission
Every time they list a building that’s for higher levels they list a backup (typically Brown House). But for some reason, it seems the Brown House isn’t triggering. Likely a bug in the coding. They should correct the issue.
I have two brown houses but I haven’t unlocked the theater yet, and it keeps saying that the jobs are unavailable… I’ll unlock the theater and see if it fixes the issue

Please use the information I left Justin regarding Costington’s solution. Alissa is correct in that eventually a small dedicated to TSTO Staff will correct the problem with a patch download (when? how soon? why so L-EA-Z-Y? hey, all of you affected by this snafu need to jump on EA’s social networks for TSTO and make some noise ’til it’s fixed!)
Meanwhile you could still 🍩 Farm ! 😉
