The Van Houtens: Turbo Tappin’ Act 4, The Van Houten Curse

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Act 4 of The Van Houtens is upon us.  Time to finally kick those Van Houtens out of our lives! (and time to bring on Halloween!)

The Van Houtens Event follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it.  This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting just over a week (10 days) and taking us through a new part of the event!

For Act 4 we’re tasked with collecting Spaghetti and Meatballs!  Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the fourth, and final, part of the story.  So let’s take a look at the details behind Act 4 and the Turbo Tappin’ Version for The Van Houten Curse…

  1. It was great to see the Springfield Airport used for tasks in part 2 and 3 of the questline and that Nana Sophie Mussolini had a task with the questline. I got the third prize this morning so I’ll probably get the next one either tonight or some time tomorrow.

  2. Jeeze…

I liked the buildings on this prize track. Even the enormous Solvang Air at least looks interesting, and my 4 year old likes watching it “fly.” Maybe because I’ve been to Solvang and went to college nearby, I have more of a connection to the joke. The vineyard is big but interesting and the cityscapes like Little Italy I usually think are pretty neat. I thought this event was pretty good.

I feel like expectations have to be tempered, kinda like with the show proper. Is the show as good now as seasons 4 through 8? Is that a fair question? Is ANY show EVER as good as those seasons (besides “The Wire”)?

Is ANY event going to be as awesome as the Stonecutters? We, and the game itself, has changed over the nearly 8 years it’s been running. I’ve played everyday since March of 2013, and at this point I try to see the positives in my little pocket-town escape.

  3. I am giving this Event a C Grade (and will save the explanations for ‘Musings’), but I can briefly say there were parts of this Event that were a B Grade (Premium Character Combos!), parts of this Event that were a D Grade (Dumb Event Prizes!), and the Writing can’t save an Event Format that needs to change (especially when the Character Dialogue was better for the separate Questlines!)

    Needs more ☕ 🧟‍♂️

  4. A SKIN!!!! just a skin for the final prize…..?? hmmmmmmm

    • It’s better than getting a decoration or token as the final prize but not as great as a character.

      • i like tokens… for they equal free donuts… not that i need them but i can still use them… 🙂

        • I like them too since I sometimes get items with them that aren’t in the Yearbook mystery box and they’re another source of getting donuts outside of farming. I’m not a fan of them being the final prize and sometimes the second to last prize in an act if they just give donuts so I prefer them being the first or second prize of an act and getting either donuts or an item from the event’s mystery box early in the act.

    • I know – you can’t polish a turd (that’s exactly how I feel about most of the unnecessary Event Prizes!)

  5. A Bort, a Bort! I just got a Bort with my token!

    • I’m going to give credit to EA for finally making 2 Character Combos available that are never in the Mystery Box – Principal Dondelinger & Samantha Stanky with their respective Buildings (I spent 150 sprinkles on each, thus fulfilling my “gotta collect ’em all” needs – lol!)
