For The Van Houtens, The End is Near

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that the Van Houtens Event Ends TOMORROW September 16th.

Milhouse has had his time to shine, now it’s time to go back to all Homer, all the time.

As far as questlines go, what’s happened in the past is that the current prize you’re working on (on any questline) you were able to finish.  Once that current prize was completed then the questline disappeared.

This means that you will want to make that final push to gather up all the things you want from the Event before it goes with the Event.

As far as what is going to happen AFTER the Event… well, we can’t know… until it is over. Until then all we can do is speculate. So, patience. We all have to verify what happens after together.

Also, It’s EA so who the heck knows…

Although I can tell you, we’re nearing the time for Halloween.  So not sure of EA’s timing right now, but we’re getting closer to Halloween in TSTO.

Now as far as to what is going with the Event, here is a brief rundown…

  • Questlines linked directly to the progression of the event will go. Like the Main Questline that pulled you through all 4 Acts. (unless you’ve started one, any questlines started you’ll be able to finish that part one the event ends)
  • However, the questlines linked directly to the prizes and Premium Characters you’ve won will remain. (so Grandpa Van Houten, Italian Milhouse, etc.)
  • The event removal will likely require an app store update to fully remove it from your game.  So don’t panic when the timer runs down and the event isn’t out of your game (or the splash screen remains the same)…  It may require an app store update to remove everything.

I know some of you still try to push that last few minutes of the collection as far as you can. However, with the last few events, EA has really shut off the ability to play on “borrowed time”.  In other words, once the timer runs out the ability to collect prizes ends.  So don’t count on getting any extra time with this one.  Try to finish everything up before the timer runs out tomorrow morning.

So finish up those questlines, relax, and wait to see what EA has next in store for us.

Oh and a reminder…don’t forget Springfield Showoff!  Submissions for your event designs should be emailed (TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com) by tonight.  So please be sure to send them in! 🙂

Are you sad to see the event go?  Or ready for it to finally be over?  How did you do with the prizes?  Get everything you wanted?  What are you hoping to see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. It was an okay event which is pretty much what I said with every other multi-event this year. It wasn’t the worst event ever but it wasn’t the greatest either but at least we did get some more Van Houten items from it. 🎁

Somethings I liked about The Van Houtens event: 👍
    * Some great characters were released including Annika, Grandma, Grandpa, and Kirkedemious Van Houten.
    * Good buildings and decorations and also great event mystery box content.
    * Great dialogue in the main questlines and character/costume questlines.

Somethings I didn’t like about The Van Houtens event: 👎
    * Lack of buildings since only 3 new buildings were available (1 premium with Act 1 and 2 prizes with Act 4).
    * Some items were pretty disappointing and lacklustre such as the act 2 decoration prizes which didn’t have any animations or tasks with them.
    * Some existing Van Houtens like Kirk, Luann and Norbert were either barely or not at all involved in the event considering the event is about Van Houtens.

  2. Idk I’m a little disappointed with the events lately. The free new content is pretty unimpressive (mostly lame decorations). And 3 Milhouse costumes?? What’s up with that????
I liked the storylines and the overall themes but again, we’re going to need a little more than two buildings and two characters to play (long event! Too long!).
For example why wasn’t Nana Sophie the final prize of act 4? Come on EA!!

    • If Nana Sophie was the final Act 4 prize then the people that got her last year or the year before would probably get 12 donuts instead which is a pretty lame prize for them to end the event on. It would make more sense if Nana Sophie was bundled with the 3rd prize, Nana Sophie Mussolini’s Vineyard since the people that don’t have her would get a character AND a building while the people that do have her would get just the building. It would also make much more sense if EA moved some of Nana Sophie’s permanent tasks to the Vineyard instead of having most of them at the Van Houten House.

This event had 14 new decorations, 8 new characters, 3 new buildings, 2 new costumes, and 4 mystery box tokens. I agree on there being more new buildings and new characters since the event was mostly decorations. I think EA should’ve stayed with 4 acts over 4 weeks instead of 4 acts over 5 weeks unless they add an extra prize or 2 in each act or have 5 acts.

It’s no surprise that Milhouse would get costumes from an event about him but almost every costume for Milhouse (except for Lady Milhouse from Game of Games The Sequel) returned in the event.

  3. There’s a character missing from my more Van Houtens collection. I haven’t seen him in the shop or in the prizes. He looks like a Milhouse strongman.
    Have I missed something?

  4. What time will the event end. I have been ill so had a few days off and need to do one more rotation of z4 hours to finish the task – help!

  5. I’m thankful for that Content worthwhile (most of it is Premium – a pattern that’s continued all year with Events), but 4 Acts over 32 Days is too long! 🙄

You will definitely want to research more on the Van Houten Family (it’s Wikia time!), and there’s so many Characters still not in TSTO (EA doesn’t have to rely on the TV series, the Bongo Comics alone have plenty of Content!) 😉
