Christmas 2020 Act 1 in Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In our games, the snow is falling and TSTO is calling yoo hoo!  It’s the most wonderful time of the year Tappers, Christmas in TSTO!  And this year EA is insulting everyone with a true Sacrilegious Christmas…nothing says 2020 quite like this! Also always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…

Once again we see another multi-event in Springfield.  So love them, or hate them, they’re still here.  So let’s all try to make the best of this…

Anywho….things kick off with a series of 6s tasks for Homer, Marge and Maggie.

After you’ve completed the initial task you’ll kick off the 2020 Xmas Event!

Note: I’m still updating returning content, but wanted to get this out there for you guys to see the new stuff.  Check back shortly for the returning content to be added (outside of Mystery Boxes, those are included here).  Post will say updated and complete when finished.

First, remember this was an app store update available for download.  So if you haven’t already done so, and you don’t see the Splash Screen above for your game, head to your app store and update TSTO.  You may have to search the store for Tapped Out, as it doesn’t always appear on the update list initially…

Second, EA this is unacceptable…the Splash Screen should fill the space not have a giant void on the side of it…

Here’s EA’s event synopsis:

When the Movementarians return to Springfield just before Christmas, Homer gets sucked into the cult
again in the hopes of taking The Leader’s Spaceship to Blisstonia. Marge and Flanders try to save Homer
from the cult, but the Movementarians are too crafty, so they have to enlist the help of Rabbi
Krustofsky. The Rabbi calls in the big guns for help, Yahweh and Moses. Moses ends up falling into the
cult himself. Baby Jesus shows up to see what’s ruining his birthday and catches the eye of King Herod who wants to finish the job he never could before. Welcome to Sacrilegious Christmas 2020.

We should all know by now unless of course, you’re new to TSTO that the prizes for this event follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.

Just like every large event recently, this is not your typical Major Event.  And there are pros and cons to that, and everyone will find their own pros and cons.  And some people’s pro will be someone else’s con.

As always, I just ask that you have an open mind, and reserve judgment until we’re into the event.  It’s 5 weeks long, it should be fairly easy to complete, you’ll unlock a bunch of new prizes and no crafting to grind through,  so let’s just have some good old fashioned TSTO fun! And, as long as you don’t rush things, you won’t get bored because it’ll change each week!

Here’s the event schedule:

Act 1 Starts December 9th (WEDNESDAY)
Act 2 Starts December 17th (THURSDAY)

Act 3 Starts December 26th (SATURDAY)
Act 4 Starts January 4th (MONDAY)

Event Ends January 13th, 2021 (WEDNESDAY)

As I stated above, the initial quests are 6s .   Once completed you’ll start the Space Cadet questline, which is the Act 1 story to follow.  This is how you’ll unlock the Act 1 prizes.

Note: Some of you have mentioned you are having trouble getting the event to start.  You need to download the latest update and the requirements for this are: Level 12 and you MUST have Bart and his Treehouse unlocked.  It won’t trigger without those two.

The Ol’ Frazzle Dazzle Pt. 1
Auto starts

Homer: Click…and drag. Click…and drag. Click…and drag. Three items in the cart. Marge. Lisa. Bart. Woohoo! I’m done with all my Christmas clicking!
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: You know about Christmas?
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: Okay, what do you want?
Maggie: *sucking sounds*
Homer: One pacifier coming up! Clicked…and dragged! Free three-day delivery? Tell that to someone who started shopping before the 23rd! Verify shipping address? Who’s working for who? Nog break!
Make Homer Drink Eggnog- 6s
Make Maggie Verify Homer’s Shipping Address- 6s
Marge: Homer, you just drank a gallon of eggnog!
Homer: We need to finish it off. It’s Christmas Eve Eve — and we all know the government takes it away on the 26th. Why can’t we keep it until New Years?! It’s seasonal! Seasonal!

The Ol’ Frazzle Dazzle Pt. 2
Auto starts

Marge: I’ll pick up some more eggnog on the way back from the mall.
Homer: Remember to get more nutmeg, too! And more nog! And more nutmeg! And more nog!
Marge: Stop that!
Homer: It’s hard to get the balance right!
Marge: My sisters are coming over for Christmas so we need to finish putting up the decorations.
Homer: Your sisters? But Christmas is the season of love!
Marge: I’m taking the kids to see Santa. You can Christmas-ify the house until we get back.
Homer: I’m going to make our house a vision of Christmas electric cheer!
Make Homer Cause A Citywide Blackout- 6s
Make Marge Take the Kids to the Mall- 6s
Make Maggie Update Pacifier Quantity in Shopping Cart- 6s
Homer: *moaning* Blacking out the town was way funnier when it happened to Chevy Chase!
Movement Ad Truck: Feeling Frazzled? Join the Movementarians for a Frazzle-Free Holiday Feast!
Homer: I am feeling frazzled! I do love feasting! This ad truck knows me better than I know myself! Can you really deliver a frazzle-free holiday?
Recruiter: Yes! We at the Movementarians create a frazzle-free zone by removing frazzles, which are inter-dimensional grumpiness gremlins. We use our spaceship to dump them in a distant nebula.
Homer: You had me at spaceship! How much does this frazzle-free holiday cost?
Recruiter: The initial frazzle test is free. After that, it’s all-you-can-earn.
Homer: Did you say all-you-can-eat?
Recruiter: Sure, that too.

And this triggers the entire story premise for each act…

(and yes, just like I did for the past multi-events, I’ll be posting full dialogue for this one before each week is over)

Now let’s talk about what’s included…

Here’s the Act 1 Synopsis from EA:

While decorating the house for Christmas, Homer gets lured away by the Movementarians with the promise of freeing him from all his frazzles and delivering a frazzle-free holiday, not to mention a ride in The Leader’s spaceship. Marge returns home from Christmas shopping with the kids to discover Homer gone and a note left behind. She enlists the help of Flanders to save Homer from the Movementarians.

As Homer rises up the ranks of the cult, Patty and Selma join too. Marge and Flanders do their best to save Homer but are unable to lure him away.

DO NOT FORGET TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN IN THE TASK BOXES (PICTURED ABOVE) TO BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL TASKS FOR EACH PART.

Returning Premium:

All returning premium content will be available from today until the event ends on January 13th.  Also, I’m not doing new SIB posts for the returning content (I may do the Mystery Box, but not sure yet).  So I’ve linked the previous posts for you to review here.  And I’ve also linked them on the Event Page for you to find later in the event.

So, YES the Holiday Light Facades are back!  You can find them in this group:
Remember, these are just alternate looks for existing buildings in Springfield. These are NOT new buildings.  Festive Light Plunger turns these off and on, or you can tap the house to switch the Facade.

Donut Offerings:

These are donut bundles available for CASH purchases (real life cash)..

Again, these are the US prices.  This is what EA gets from the totals.  Your pricing may be different and that as to do with VAT from Apple and Google, not EA.  Pricing varies per country…

Item Limits

Item limits increased with Halloween, they have not been increased for Christmas.

And that’s it my friends.  The details of Act 1 of the 2020 Christmas Event!

Your thoughts on the event?  Thoughts on the content?  Excited to see the storyline? Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

168 responses to “Christmas 2020 Act 1 in Live! The Rundown and What You Need To Know (Updated and Complete)

  1. Question about the mystery box, are some of the items in it yearbook items? None of them were marked with an asterisk so I wonder. Because if they aren’t and are only back in form of the mystery box, I was thinking about getting them all… maybe. Can someone answer with a simple yes/no? If not I’ll cross-check it myself, just thought I’d ask before I do all that, maybe someone knows off the top of their head

  2. The daily challenges are a NIGHTMARE. Send 6 dad’s to put up decorations- restricted mainly to dads on the main mission. Kearney us a dad, drinks dad is a dad, many other examples excluded. Send springfielders shopping- kodos can go, not Kang though. Santa and Mrs Claus okay, MOST other springfield residents excluded. For someone that keeps a lot of characters in storage, this is ridiculous

  3. The second part hasn’t started yet?

  4. Question-if I dismiss the daily challenge of 1 ticket, will I get another # of tickets, or will it give me other ‘regular’ tasks?

    • I keep dismissing my 1 and 2 ticket Daily Tasks until I get a 3 ticket Daily Task. So far I haven’t had a 1 or 2 ticket Daily Task replaced by a non-ticket ‘regular’ task as you call it.

  5. Hello theres, do you know if you can own more than one santa’s workshop? I definitely used to own it but cant remember where i put it in my village 🤦 adn wanted to check it hadnt some how been deleted from my village

    • Not sure…but two Santa’s workshops seems wrong. I believe the elves have a union, and working 2/12s was outlawed for them in 1957.

      • I think you’ll find the 1957 law was repealed, when they threatened to move the workshop to the South Pole and use cheaper penguin labour.
I’m pretty sure that’s why I can buy a second Santa’s workshop, but I’m going to stick with the Elves union and decline.

  6. I got a daily challenge for 4 hours, “make Springfielders preach their version of Christmas “ for 4 hours. Something is wrong with Helen lovejoys task, “ worship” along rev love joy. My game freezes up and I can’t get out of it. Hard to hard close. If you get this challenge, Choose the other characters to get your 10, you may need to do twice.

    • Yep, that Helen Lovejoy just did not want to worship alongside the ‘rev’… think there might be a little divergence in the marriage.
Had to use the back button to unfreeze

  7. Burning bush seems to have disappeared as of December 12 😔

  8. The problem with the wonderland is, I don’t earn tickets through the daily task (Make Springfielders forget what holiday is) because my game thinks that the people that get shown to be available for this daily task should go trick or treating. There is no task in the bar on the left that prompts anyone to go trick or treating.

Is there a fix or workaround?

    • I earned the tickets but the trick or treat task remain yellow, the top action for the kids to do? Any ideas?

    • ‘Make Springfielders forget what holiday is’
Do you think that sending your Springfielders ‘trick or treating’ might actually fulfill that task?
      Just asking for a friend

    • Really FOXY? as I guess you don’t get the whole “Forget What Holiday it IS?” thing do ya as what did ya except they Celebrate Saint Patty’s Day or Valentine’s Day as the joke is you make them forget it’s Christmas by going Trick-Or-Treating as it’s them dang Whipper snappers to get the Joke. And as far as Bar yes! there is on each kid or you click on the Go To/Do Job or whatever it is called and they give you a list of Kids that can go Trick Or Treating or you go to wherever you put you Halloween Bucket or Scary Mask Deco on the Map then a Ticket over that Item appears and shows which Kids can go TOT’n

  9. I miss dropping presents under neighbor’s trees.

    – Also, I need ice road tiles!

  10. Thanks for the heads up on the burning bush. My bonus multiplier is now at 3845.6% (or something like that haha). Had to put some bushes in storage, I’ll figure out what I really don’t need out and put the bushes back out (I was at 4100% before I had to store a bunch back away haha).

This shop glitch has been fixed and they are gone form purchasing (at least for $500 game cash) as of the quick update earlier today.

  11. I no longer have the option to buy mystery box tokens anyone else having this issue?

    • Same here. I know I saw the option to buy tokens a few days ago, but now that I’m ready to do it it seems to be gone. Hopefully just a glitch that’ll be fixed before the end of the event!

      • The option to buy tokens for donuts has disappeared for me too. This happened after I completed the complete first challenge set and used up all my ticket on the other box. Have 9 items left o. The 2020 holiday box a d 2300 donuts available to spend. Frustrating knowing I’ll be short 5 tokens after earning the next four available.

    • Me too.

  12. alissa & patric, I appreciate everything you do. alissa, please quit banging your head. I’ve been waiting maybe 5 years for the turkey – can I only get one?

    • Turkey is unique

    • I still don’t see Santa’s Wonderland to get the turkey; do we need to earn some minimum number of tickets before the store shows up? Getting nervous…

      • Santa’s Wonderland is in the Store…you’ll see the icon. But there is no guarantee of turkeys. It is populated with items I didn’t have…or didn’t want, but now can ear for free.

        • Grindor the Aged

Nope, not in the store – the mystery box is in the store with nothing to buy, and I can trade tickets for donuts, but no wonderland. Any suggestions?

        • Yep, that Helen Lovejoy just did not want to worship alongside the ‘rev’… think there might be a little divergence in the marriage.
Had to use the back button to unfreeze

  13. Game not loading, donut keeps spinning on main page
    Cannot get in at all
    Needs fixing asap

  14. I just emptied my wonderland box. 3 donuts per ticket as soon as you empty the box. Also they patched out the burning bush. Sorry to those who didn’t get to buy them for xp bonus grinding.

  15. So that last update removed the burning bush from my list – does that mean I have to stop asking stupid questions over & over?

  16. I really hope they bring back ice road and snow walls, I love them and I need more for expanding my winter area with new stuff!😍😍

  17. This update has me on the verge of deleting the app. Keep getting the Bart screen of death whenever I try to play it. I’ve even deleted and reinstalled.

  18. Every time I see the tickets for the daily challenge it reminds me of strips of bacon… mmmmm… bacon. LOL! Also question.. If I don’t have the light plunger, it will show up for me to buy somewhere correct? In my second game I can’t find where I put it! (Maybe I don’t have it?) Doh. Any help in finding? Darn thing is not as big as a building so this one is trickier to find. Otherwise I have to manually turn on all my Christmas facades?

  19. Can Wonderland tickets be redeemed for donuts?

  20. Is it just me, or did EA forget the Christmas music and adding snow onto Springfield Elementary?

  21. Suddenly a lot of the kids have a “trick or treat” task that I’ve never seen before. It’s at the top of the task options as a default. Is halloween part of this event?

  22. Thanks to the burning bush, went from over 1 million cash to 298 real quick, but also went from around 60% to 1086%.

My Springfield may be burning the ozone layer, but hey, at least KEM farming is gonna better than ever

  23. When I buy burning bushes it’s not paying out donuts, I’ve deleted and reinstalled Tsto and still nothing, anyone else have this issue?

    • It doesnt pay out donuts, not sure who told you that. They earn a bonus %, which is helpful if you’re a donut farmer.

      • @Alissa 8am this morning i Logged in. There was a glitch, burning bushes were $500 cash get 5 donuts back when you buy. I tried it didn’t work! Got the burning bush, no donuts added to my total.

        • Sorry, just to clarify, same as what Geoffy2357 said, 500$ get 5 donuts back on the bush however no donuts added after purchase.

          • I don’t know how much clearer I can be… you do not get donuts for buying the bush. You never have.
The bush used to cost donuts and earned a .5% bonus (thats 1/2 a percent), but for some reason with this event EA has made the bush avaliable for in-game cash while still paying out the .5% bonus. This will likely be temporary.
But at no point, today or any other day, was the bush paying out donuts when you placed it.

        • OK……………………………………….For the love of God, people. Geoffy, you answered your own question in the first line of your comment. It was a GLITCH. And as glitches go, it is more than likely a programmer forgot to remove the description about getting donuts back, from another offer they had. Take the Gift Glitch and be happy that is gives a great Bonus…for not very much game cash…which is pretty much worthless. The Free Donuts Back was a freakin’ TYPO! Got it?

          • The point you are making here is what Alissa should have said to me in the first place Patric, Geoffy was just confirming what I was seeing. I had no idea it was a GLITCH, was Geoffy referring to the glitch being a donut rebate or the glitch was people weren’t getting them? I have no idea, I assumed everyone was getting the donut rebate and so I came to the so called “experts” to ask if that was the case? Instead all I got was condescending replies.

            • I swear, some days you guys make me want to bang my head against the wall. I’ve been doing this for 7 years, and during every event, there’s always someone who misinterprets what is said and asks the same question over and over and over again. And then gets mad at me for answering the question in a way they don’t want me to answer it. For heaven’s sake, look at the comment exchange…

You said it doesn’t work. I said there never were donuts, not sure who told you that. So as an “expert” I answered the damn question for you, and nicely. Then you continued to hound on the question. I can only say the same thing so many times…if you don’t want to believe my answer that’s on you. Don’t get mad at me for answering the question.

Now I’ll go back to banging my head against a wall wondering why I still have this damn website…

              • All, these guys running the TSTO site are VOLUNTEERS with real jobs and families and such. If you don’t accept the answer to a question asked 5 billion times, then keep banging on about it, don’t be surprised if the team get frustrated.
Thanks you Alissa and Patric and all for the event rundowns!

          • I didn’t ask a question. Also no reason to Yell Pat. Got it?

        • Can you send me a screenshot of this glitch?

          • I considered taking a screenshot but I didn’t. The typo or whatever has been fixed in my game anyway. Frankly at this point I like to forget I ever saw it lol.

          • I sent a screenshot to the addicts gmail over 12 hours ago, it’s there.

The TSTO game itself told me it was paying out donuts, no one else, your answers were mostly focused on percentages not why tsto was telling me (and others) We should be getting donuts. I appreciate you are a volunteer and I also appreciate your contribution but to be clear I asked about a donut rebate not working and you reply was mostly about percentages so please don’t bang your head against the wall asking why I keep referring back to the donuts, it’s what the enquiry is about after all, not percentages, I understand that side of things. I was just hoping for some help on missing donuts and Ive now gathered it’s an in game misprinted glitch by those who read, understood and articulated it as such, thanks for your time all the same.

            • The most wonderful time of the year!

            • You wouldn’t worry about missing donuts if you “planted” or build Kwik E Mart’ s and before completing each KEM you spend 5 donuts in the XP Collider. Your donuts will increase dramatically as you “harvest” or build them.

  24. I see Event Descriptions like this, and I think
    Alissa,
    Dear,
    GET A LIFE!
    😂
Thank you, thank you, sooooo much effort.
    Thank you.

And BTW, on my computer, the SIB Link on the
    Monorail Accessories Bundle,
It takes me to the SIB for the Station itself and comments on how there are no accessories.

Like Yin and Yang, I giveth and I taketh
But then life for many of us is up the YinYang

  25. Thanks for the info. Is there any way to get Kang from obtaining the Santa Kang costume from the mystery box? I still don’t have him.

  26. Did anyone else get the Springfield tire fire facade? I got it first thing today, but my friend that also plays doesn’t have it as an option in his game.

    • The 3 things available for me in facades I didn’t have were lights for the Gold Mansion, the candy striped cooling towers and yes, the Tire Fire. I was very happy.

  27. I got almost 500 extra percent in XP in the bushes, so currently at 1500 which is imo enough for me. I will see how many donuts I will be getting. I was getting cca 70-90 daily now if I logged in relatively every 4 hours. Just do not wanna hit my item limit any time soon.

I also love all the items we are getting this event. It coincidentally also snowed today which made me very happy…snow on the same day in TSTO as IRL 😀

    • Burning bush is giving me 5 donuts per purchase. Not sure if a glitch. But I guess it’s a good one.

  28. I dont know if anyone else noticed this but in the holiday section you can buy burning bushes for $500 and they give you bonus xp.

  29. Great post & walkthrough! I haven’t played TSTO in a few yrs so I missed the last couple Christmas events. Is it possible to get all the items in the Holiday Mystery Box & Santa’s Wonderland box b4 they’re gone? Or would I need 1000+ donuts? This token/ticket currency wasn’t around that I remember last time I played Thanks for the feedback!
PS Is the Movementarian Compound & The Leader worth buying? Thanks

  30. Can’t log in, just a constant “ooops” server screen.

    Great.
