It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

Is anything scheduled for St Patrick’s Day?
Nothing as of yet, but we expect a mini-event (assuming EA sticks to its regular schedule) to hit on St. Patrick’s Day…so we’ll see what it brings 🙂
I’m am looking forward for a new update. Somethings I would like to see is EA opening up more land on the Springfield heights side. There is so much empty land over there. I would also love to see Troy McClure and Gill as permanent characters in Springfield!
We need that SH land open!
Does anyone know off hand what/when the last event was to require neighbor visits? I know it contributed to the “grind” factor, but I also feel like we lost a lot of the sense of community when they went away. Does anyone agree with me, or is it a general feeling of “good riddance?”

From what I’ve gathered it looks like Moe’s Ark (2018) was the last with Neighbor interactions. Halloween 2018 had crafting and tappables but no neighbors, and Christmas 2018 started the multi act process.

It really has been a long time
I loved the moes ark event being able to create your own zoo in Springfield was probably the last time I had proper fun playing the game rather than just reading dialogue and sending characters off to unlock a building place it then forget about it.
Because I miss it and fancy doing it again I’m going to pick up totbox old tradition of random 10 songs. May not be every week though just as and when I remember feel free to join in and have fun.

Alright guys, Riley and I tried a Shamrock Shake for the first time (Sam was, and still is, napping). You’ll see what we thought on tomorrow’s Little Addicts Adventures video but have you had a Shamrock Shake before? What do you think of it?
I seen to remember liking them, but, unfortunately, my digestive system doesn’t seem to do that well with mint stuff now. Just one of the bummers of getting older. 🙁

I stay away from dairy, so this is the only time during the year that I take a break from that (and I only get a few, because I just don’t do dairy anymore). 💚
Mint flavor’s not bad, it’s the green food colouring I have concerns over (too much of that will turn everything green – if you know what I mean !) ☘️
Oh, I’d be devastated if I couldn’t have dairy! I can deal with having very limited mint, although I do like it! And not all mint things are a problem, so maybe I could do a shamrock shake!
I miss the original Shamrock Shake (there was no whipped cream at the top), but it’s the same minty taste and green colour (if you 💚 mint chip ice cream? it’s the same taste minus the chocolate chips!) Still go swell with coffee, rum, or vodka! 🍹
Mcdonald’s introduced the Shamrock Shake way back in 1967 (Hal Rosen, a Connecticut McDonald’s Owner and Operator, made the delicious mint shake in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day). It later debuted across the U.S. in 1970 at every McDonald’s (2020 celebrated 50 Years!) with an add campaign featuring Grimace’s Irish Uncle O’Grimacey! 💚☘️

By 1974? Sales of the Shamrock Shake helped finance the 1st Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia! It’s a silly tradition for me to grab a Shamrock Shake before they sell out (usually around Valentine’s and before mid-March is when you will find them available). 😋🥤

I will say Shamrock Shakes are an acquired taste, because they taste like something you would use to flavour your coffee (or the Mrs. says “you make a small shamrock shake last almost week by creating rum shots!” – and she’s right! 😅).
It’s the green food colouring ….. that’s what you said ‘is leaving a film in my mouth’ (well that green food colouring makes everything green going out and that’s why I only do a little bit at a time once a year!).

It’s a special limited-time shake available from McDonald’s. They bring it back every year (I think) for St. Patrick’s Day. I had never had one, until yesterday. Video will be up at 6:30 my time (about 2 hrs) with mine and the little Addicts reactions to it. 🙂
It’s a mint-flavored shake. As someone else mentioned here, it’s kind of like mint-chip ice cream, without the chocolate pieces.

It’s a McDonald’s only classic brought out the Day after Valentine’s to St Patrick’s Day since 1970.
It has a strong minty flavour (but not the same meant as say the mint in toothpaste, or candy) and it’s very green (green food colouring!) 💚☘️
Shamrock Shakes are not for everybody, at least it’s not as obnoxious as when Burger King tried to introduce a Dr Pepper Shake 3 years ago. 😉

‘Neighbor #1 moved and dumped him and his brother. They hopped the fence and neighbor #2 took both in. Brother became territorial and kicked him out. He crossed the street and shared himself with Neighbor #3 and Neighbor #2.
Neighbor #3 moved.
He sat in the driveway staring.
New family moved in but already had a cat and a dog and didn’t want him. He came by our house, losing weight, not eating. We found out what he usually ate, offered it, he ate a little, then some more, then chose us to be his people.
He is NOT our cat. We are his people. And we are definitely stuck with that role.

Happy Sunday, everyone! In the spirit of the Open Thread, in which comments don’t have to be TSTO-related, here’s my question for y’all…. What new hobby/task/distraction have you taken up this past year, during the pandemic?
For me, I’ve recently discovered “diamond painting” – it’s kind of like paint-by-numbers (which never appealed to me at all), but with less mess and more sparkle! I’ve been doing it not so much as an art or craft (since it requires pretty much zero creativity or thought) but more as a relaxing, meditative type of thing. It’s really addictive, too, so I guessed that aspect might appeal to fellow TSTO addicts, lol! 😜

We’ve done a LOT of home improvement projects, lots of baking (perfected our bagel recipe), and now I’ve moved onto LEGOS. (A much more expensive hobby! 🤦♀️)
Knocked out Mickey and Minnie a couple of weeks ago and now I’m working on Cindarella’s castle..can you tell i miss Disney?

I have been on an elusive search for a social media community and find myself back here in the safety of the TSTOA community.
I haven’t been a good visiting neighbor within the game (nor in real life, because those people keep to themselves and like you said ‘pandemic’ so I don’t intend to visit anyone in real life if I don’t have to :p
As I mentioned in my Pi Day comment, (which I’ll expand on here). I also have been focused on an app that lists common and uncommon holidays every day,
Today for example is Pi Day, Genius Day (not Guinness Day -lol); learn about butterflies day, potato chip day, and other strange topics.. turns out it is also Mother’s Day for those who live in the UK so, happy Mother’s Day to anyone who lives there or has family origin from there, or Happy Mother’s Day even if you aren’t from the UK 🙂
It seems small and silly of a habit to find topics of celebration everyday but if we don’t celebrate the small stuff than we just get frustrated that the bigger holidays are too far away. So, celebrate, learn and keep yourself mentally busy (I say to myself)!

Lol – diamond painting doesn’t use real gems! It uses these multifaceted acrylic pieces referred to (for some reason I have yet to understand) as “drills.” You can also get kits that use crystals, but I haven’t done those (too expensive). The kits can actually be quite cheap…you can get them for as little as $5, depending on the size (and how long you’re willing to wait to get them). I’ve mostly spent about $10 for each of my kits, and I spent about $30 up front to get some tools, etc., to make them easier/more pleasant to do (like a small light board, which I think is essential).
I’m bummed that I done have any pie around for Pi Day! But I like your idea of celebrating something each day. 🙂
And yes, I missed you too, and I’m happy to start to get our friendly little community back here, now that it’s safe again. 💜

I’m not the only one feeling tired today due to ‘daylight savings’ , but I still would feel better not losing an hour ever again (lol!)

Long time player and long time reader here, I’ll probably never stop playing at this stage but I am getting increasingly frustrated at the laziness relating to certain elements of the game and I’m wondering if anyone else feels the same.
Firstly, I hate paying donuts or even real money in some cases for characters only for them to be locked away in a certain building, such as $ Casino or Chez Geuvaras when sent on their 4/8 hour tasks instead of being sent to do their visual task, it’s something I have increasingly noticed with newer characters added to the game. I think the programmers are getting lazy with this and I think that if we are expected to buy characters with donuts or cash, we should be seeing them in our towns. I have had to put numerous buildings I have bought with donuts in storage as a result, which annoys me.
I am also getting annoyed with the same characters constantly earning event currency and the lack of thought with this. I feel like Artie Ziff should have been earning currency for this event or even Kirk or Luann in the Van Houtens event instead of characters with no real connection to the event.
Rant over, I know its only little things but hopefully someone might agree lol

Right there with you! But I think EA is just in a rut with game play. Seems the get stuck in a game play cycle every few years. We’re now at 2 full years of multi-event format, so hopefully we’ll see some tweaks soon!

I miss the days when we had those things.

Hi, everyone! Since I hit the money limit the daily tasks are almost… money! Even if I cancel the item, the replace is another money. About each 10, 8 are money, one is donuts and one is coffee (that I have also full). Is this happen only for me? Thank you!
I think that’s just a random thing. I’ve been at the max for awhile and still getting donut tasks. Good mix for me cash, donuts, sh currency (which I always cancel)

Storage is full and there’s no way I’m mucking about with 16 rounds at the googolplex to get 80 chairs no matter what the reward.
Sometimes it plays nice, Collect from buildings for 6 Ds, well, if I must 😄
Yes the same thing happens to me! Usually takes 3 or 4 tries to get a non SH task…
Since there are 3 slots and your able to change/switch-out a task per day I leave one slot permanently for those SH tasks (mine is the chair crafting), so every day when I get a fresh task I either do that fresh task or wait yet another day to see if I want to switch out the previous day or the new task, but I still keep the SH task there.
I usually switch out the tasks that are currency rewards and do the donut reward tasks.
Do you mean that, if you already have a SH task, the game won’t give you another one? Cool! I don’t mind the SH tasks that only require 5 of whatever items it is, because I can knock that out in one go at the Googleplex, but I don’t do the ones that need more than that.
I had tasks to collect Mats and Lattes stuck until the next time I could ditch one of the challenges 🙁
