Where Did THAT Come From- The Love Bot and Mr. Sparkle Factory

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

For this post, we’re going to cover the two “quick-blip” items that hit our pocket-sized towns during Act 2 of the Rise of the Robots Event.  Even though they’re from two different episodes, they’re all just a quick blip in the world of The Simpsons.  So, it’s time to examine where the Love Bot and Mr. Sparkle Factory come from…hope you didn’t blink or you might’ve missed it!

Despite being part of the same premium combo, these two items come from two totally different episodes of The Simpsons.  Both were very quick blips in the show and didn’t really play a significant role in the storyline.

Let’s start with the Love Bot…

The Love Bot
S23, E9 “Holidays of Future Passed”

The Love Bot is a quick blip in the episode, and that’s what I’m going to cover.  But for those who want to know more about this specific episode (it’s a great one, and we had a whole mini-event based on it last year), here’s the synopsis from Fox:

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and The Simpsons flash forward thirty years and find themselves in a tech-savvy, futuristic Springfield. Bart and Lisa have children of their own and decide to spend the holidays as one big family at Homer and Marge’s house. Lisa and Bart turn to Homer and Marge for parenting advice and begin to realize that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

So the Love Bot, well Love Bots I should say, comes into play at 13 minutes and 35 seconds.  There are two Love Bots, a male and female, and they are the companions of Patty and Selma that arrive at Homer and Marge’s house to celebrate Christmas.

Selma then asks her male Love Bot for a Bloody Mary, to which he replies: “No, Selma even a robot built only to love you, cannot love you.  I’m leaving with your sister’s concu-droid” And then they run off together…

And that’s it!  Literally, a 10-second clip, during a really great episode, and the Love Bot is gone.  The female Love Bot doesn’t say a word during the episode, so it is nice to get a little more storyline for her during this update.

Next up…the Mr. Sparkle Factory….

Mr. Sparkle Factory
S8, E22 “In Marge We Trust”

Again, this really was just a quick blip in the episode.  Seriously, I had to watch it a few times to find it…I must’ve blinked!  For those who want to know more about this specific episode, here’s the synopsis from FOX:

Marge volunteers as an over-the-phone counselor for the church, and the congregation starts turning to Marge more than Reverend Lovejoy. Meanwhile, Homer goes on a quest to find out why his likeness is the logo for a Japanese detergent company.

Now let’s talk the Factory, and a little Mr. Sparkle as well.

The Factory appears at 10 minutes and 40 seconds and literally, the outside appears on screen for 2 seconds.

Homer calls the factory to see why his face is Mr. Sparkle (for those who don’t know, Mr. Sparkle is a popular (and powerful) dish soap in Japan).  When he calls we get a glimpse of the inside of the factory and the Mr. Sparkle process…

That’s really it on the Mr. Sparkle Factory!  We’ve had Mr. Sparkle in our games since 2017, so it’s nice to finally add the Factory as well!

And, for those who giggle at Mr. Sparkle like I do…

Oh and Homer does get an answer as to why he’s Mr. Sparkle…after the Mr. Sparkle company sends him an investor’s video…on VHS, remember those?!

And that’s it my friends! The details behind two of the quick-blip Act 2 Rise of the Robots prizes!

Do you remember them from the show?  Did you purchase this combo?  Where have you placed them in your Springfield?  Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. “There’s your answer, Fish-Bulb” is something I say to coworkers when they figure something fairly simple out after their inquiry.

Yes, It would have been nice to see a Gigolo Joe (“Male Love Bot”) animated cameo in Love Bot’s aniimated tasks but it might be a little close to a copyright infringement perhaps .idk

  2. I’m a dunce! I mistakenly thought that the Love Bot was one of the girls in the Mr. Sparkle commercial. Their clothes/look is somewhat similar: https://frinkiac.com/img/S08E22/884599.jpg

I’d totally forgotten about that Love Bot gag from “Holidays of Future Passed” though. I wonder why they paired her with the Mr. Sparkle Factory.

  3. Thanks Alissa,

Season 23, Episode 9 “Holidays of Future Passed” is the 🎁 that keeps on giving (and yeah I’d like to trade in a 🤖 NPC for a Male Lovebot bring chased by Selma , a Character and he doesn’t have to be voiced!) 😉

Season 8, Episode 22 “In Marge We Trust” (I really need to rewatch this, it took time for Mr Sparkle to grow on me, EA needs to give him a permanent Character Task at the Mr. Sparkle Factory!) 😀👍🏻

C’mon EA gimme some 🤖’s that Rumble in an Arena!
