Should You Buy Hadrosaur Bouvier or Test Subject Bart?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Spending actual cash on donuts for a character is back in TSTO.  This is something EA’s been rolling out over the last few years, and it’s a new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them)  Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character to one of the donut bundles sometimes in addition to bonus donuts.

And I want to be perfectly clear…you do not need to buy these characters to complete an event.  You can still play this game, and complete all the tasks and prizes, 100% free.  These cash-for-character items are a new type of premium currency…because donuts have been so devalued with donut farming.

This time around we’re being offered TWO of these bundles:  Test Subject Bart (a costume for Bart) + a Tray of 132 Donuts and Hadrosaur Bouvier (an NPC) + Stack of 60 Donuts.  While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of these two additions, tasks, questline and other details you may be curious about.

So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….

So what is the deal?  When you can find it in the Currency Tab of your Store (also by hitting Get More)…

Basically, spend $9.99 on a Tray of 132 donuts and you get the Test Subject Bart costume and/or spend $4.99 on a Stack of 60 donuts and you get the Hadrosaur Bouvier NPC.

And yes, for those outside of the US I know my price is probably lower than yours.  EA only charges 9.99 USD for this package…anything over that that you are currently paying goes to Google/Apple/Amazon for Tax and Duty etc.  EA only collects the 9.99/4,99.

Remember, both items leave stores when the event ends on November 10th.

We’ll start things off with a breakdown on Test Subject Bart…

Testing, Testing Pt. 1
Test Subject Bart starts

Mrs. Frink: Thank you for coming, but I’m afraid ten year-olds aren’t the right candidates for our product testing program.
Bart: Pfft, lady, I’ve been putting terrible things in my body since I was two. Ever taste Krusty-O’s? Besides, I’ll do anything to make money to buy the new Sergeant Thug’s Mountaintop Command Post.
Mrs. Frink: What’s so great about that toy?
Bart: What’s so great about it is that none of my friends have it. Now cork the gab hole and stuff me full of suspicious products!
Make Bart Eat Something Suspicious- 2hrs
Make Mrs. Frink Test Products on Bart- 2hrs
Bart: I’m not sure about that first one I put in my mouth. I’m feeling tingly and minty. What was it?
Mrs. Frink: It’s called toothpaste. You need to start with a clean palette.
Bart: Ugh! Get it out! Get it out!

Testing, Testing Pt. 2
Test Subject Bart starts

Bart: Things are going horribly wrong. I’m feeling…changes…inside. Maybe I’m going through early puberty?
Mrs. Frink: Right. And there’s no way it could be the dozens of products you’ve ingested, rubbed on, or been injected with.
Bart: Maybe a little of that too.
Mrs. Frink: The damage is done. Now sign this waiver releasing me from responsibility…before your fingers seize up and become unusable.
Make Mrs. Frink Use Bart’s Hand to Sign Waiver- 2hrs
Make Bart Transform- 2hrs
Mrs. Frink: Oh my God, you’re grotesque!
Test Subject Bart: That’s not fair. You did this to me!
Mrs. Frink: You begged me to do it. You said you needed money for that toy.
Test Subject Bart: That’s true. The money is good…even though my face and all of my insides are bad.

Testing, Testing Pt. 3
Test Subject Bart starts

Test Subject Bart: What’s up next?
Mrs. Frink: You want to keep testing more products? After what the last one did to you?
Test Subject Bart: Do you see Sergeant Thug’s Mountaintop Command Post in my hands yet?
Mrs. Frink: Hands? You mean those clay blobs with the taquito fingers.
Test Subject Bart: Just keep the products coming. I was never aiming to be a hand model anyway.
Make Test Subject Bart Rapid-Fire Test Products- 12hrs
Make Mrs. Frink Consult With Blue-Haired Lawyer- 8hrs

Testing, Testing Pt. 4
Test Subject Bart starts

Mrs. Frink: Sorry, Bart. I can’t, in good conscience, test any more products on you.
Test Subject Bart: What about in bad conscience?
Mrs. Frink: You’re just gonna have to save up some other way for that toy you want.
Test Subject Bart: No! Saving up for something I want now makes me — GHAARAAGGH!
Mrs. Frink: *gasp* I — I’m sorry — here, take all the money I’ve got. Just don’t hurt me.
Test Subject Bart: Interesting. This is a way faster way to make money.
Make Test Subject Bart Scare the Locals Out of Money- 8hrs
Test Subject Bart: GHAARAAGGH! Give me all your money!
Wiggum: Help! Police! Not me! Some other police! *throws money*
Test Subject Bart: Heh-heh. Too easy. Ooh, here comes another one. GHAAARAARRGHGHG! Make with the cash!
Lisa: Bart, nothing you do scares me.
Test Subject Bart: What if I yell longer — GHHAARRRGGGHHHGGGHHHAAAGGGHHHAAAGH!!
Lisa: Nope. But I do feel sorry for you. You look terrible. You must feel terrible.
Test Subject Bart: True. But it’s all for a good cause — a toy!
Lisa: I can’t bear looking at you like this so…you can have my allowance this week. *hands over money*
Test Subject Bart: *gasp* I finally have enough to buy Sergeant Thug’s Mountaintop Command Post!
Lisa: Um, some bad news to go along with your bad complexion — it’s sold out.
Test Subject Bart: GHHAARRRGGHGHGAHGH!!!!!

And now onto Hadrosaur Bouvier:

-Non-Playable Character, will roam around Springfield and that’s about it
-Does have sound that plays when tapped
-Slight animation when tapped
-No tasks or questline
-From “THOH XXIX” S30, E4 -Geriatric Park  Segment (#3)

That’s pretty much it on the two cash buys for this event. Personally I’m not excited about either…I’d be more into Test Subject Bart if it was a character and not a costume (or lower in cost), but that’s me.

What are your thoughts on Test Subject Bart and/or Hadrosaur Bouvier?  Have you made the purchase(s)?  Will you be making the purchase(s)? Thoughts on the questline and tasks?  Sound off below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I bought test subject bart at the beginning of the event.
I would have bought Hadrosaur bouvier if i had seen her.
She still doesn’t show on my ‘buy donut’ links.
I purchased the 60 donuts, but still not hadrosaur…..
    I’m contacting EA –
I suspect this was how i missed getting Pixel HOmer from the Into the Simpsonverse event….

    • Update –
I have been back and forth with EA Help trying to get this resolved and have this one NPC added in my game.
      No Luck whatsoever.

Usually – i have no issues with getting a resolution from EA.
Today i just had them call me on the phone.
The first guy had me go thru some steps then told me i had to hang up the phone, log into my game on my Kindle and then call them from my kindle? WHat? He said he couldn’t find my game with my userid – even after i spelled it out letter/word.

I hung up, and submitted another request for a phone all.
This agent was much more knowledgeable and nice and she found my game right away.
We eventually un installed the game and chatted while the game downloaded again.
      But stiil no Hadrosaur.
She finally insisted the the character was like Sideshow bob and was a NPC character.
i corrected her and said that Bob was a regular character with tasks. And NPC characters were not storable, and just sort of wandered around in the game.
She said this Hadrosaur character wouldn’t always show up, based on the tsto wiki fandom site – ? this made no sense.
Even so i told her – if i own the character – then my treehouse of horror character list should be listed as complete – and i get bonus rewards – however it was not showing this way.
She eventually didn’t know what to do – and kept giving me the npc character line, so i ended the call.
I imagine one day she’ll show up – but who knows.

  2. 2 character a for real money in one month is too much. I’ve spent enough to buy a car on this game over the years, I don’t mind giving a little every other month or so to keep the game viable, within limits!
That said I did buy the cheaper Dino bouvier hadrosaur, Bart’s too expensive for another skin for a character that has SO many skins already.

  3. My thoughts are I would rather have New Content from the next 2 (that’s 2) Episodes of The Simpsons (2 because it’s a 2 parter!) and Fox Animation dropped a trailer –
