Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
In our games, the snow is falling and TSTO is calling yoo hoo! It’s the most wonderful time of the year Tappers, Christmas in TSTO! I just love the look of a fresh blanket of snow covering my pocket-sized town…at least for now. I’ll get sick of it by the time January rolls around…in TSTO and in real life (have I mentioned lately I wanna move to Florida?) Anyway, yes the annual Christmas/holiday event has arrived in Springfield, so what does EA have in store for us? Well, we’ve got a real mystery on our hands! A holiday whodunnit if you will! Poor Santa…
As always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…
Once again we see another multi-event in Springfield. So love them, or hate them, they’re still here. So let’s all try to make the best of this…
Anywho….things kick off with a series of 6s tasks for Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa (and remember you have to be on Level 15 to see the event)…
After you’ve completed the initial task you’ll kick off the 2021 Christmas Event!
(note I’m still adding info regarding returning items…so check back later for the full list plus links. All other event info should be up)
First, remember this was an app store update available for download. So if you haven’t already done so, and you don’t see the Splash Screen above (or a variation of it) for your game, or snow in your Springfield head to your app store and update TSTO. You may have to search the store for Tapped Out, as it doesn’t always appear on the update list initially…

Now on with the details for Act 1!
Here’s EA’s event synopsis:
Santa is out of commission. He was attacked by an unknown assailant and won’t be well enough to deliver presents on Christmas. But that’s okay, the town is banding together to hold a sleigh race on Mt. Useful to find a suitable replacement for Santa this year! They can’t be without presents on Christmas. Upon hearing the news of Santa’s attack, Marge and Lisa spring into action, vowing to Sherlock this mystery and find the culprit. If they can only agree which one of them gets to be Sherlock.
We should all know by now unless of course, you’re new to TSTO that the prizes for this event follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.
Just like every large event recently, this is not your typical Major Event. And there are pros and cons to that, and everyone will find their own pros and cons. And some people’s pro will be someone else’s con.
As always, I just ask that you have an open mind, and reserve judgment until we’re into the event. It’s 5 weeks long, it should be fairly easy to complete, you’ll unlock a bunch of new prizes and no crafting to grind through, so let’s just have some good old-fashioned TSTO fun! And, as long as you don’t rush things, you won’t get bored because it’ll change each week!
Here’s the event schedule:
Act 1 Starts December 8th (WEDNESDAY)
Act 2 Starts December 17th (FRIDAY)
Act 3 Starts December 26th (SUNDAY)
Act 4 Starts January 4th (TUESDAY)
Event Ends January 12th, 2022 (WEDNESDAY)
As I stated above, the initial quests are 6s. Once completed you’ll start the Out Cold questline, which is the Act 1 story to follow. This is how you’ll unlock the Act 1 prizes.
Note: Some of you have mentioned you are having trouble getting the event to start. You need to download the latest update and the requirements for this are: Level 15. It won’t trigger unless you’re there. Also, there’s a crashing issue going on. See the note at the very top of this post about that.
No Crime Like the Present
Bart: Milhouse, did you hear that Santa got attacked?
Milhouse: By the bullies?!
Bart: No one knows, but he’s pretty messed up. So I guess no gifts from Santa this year…
Milhouse: Well, I wasn’t expecting much anyway. My dad just got fired from that beef bowl place for over-beefing the bowls.
Homer: *eating beef bowl* If you don’t skimp the customer, you skimp yourself.
Milhouse: Well, I guess Santa getting attacked could be good then…maybe my dad can audition to replace him?
Homer: Not if I beat him to it. I just upgraded my snowmobile and gave it “Fast and the Furious”-grade nitrous.
Bart: How does that in any way help you get hired as Santa?
Homer: Because whenever a Santa dies or is incapacitated, there’s a race to replace him — and the winner gets his job! Plus a grandfather clock made of mahogany!
Bart: Well, if you become the new Santa, here’s my Christmas list: a waterslide from my bedroom window into an infinity pool with underwater surround-sound.
Homer: Your wish is my command.
Milhouse: Ooh! And if you become Santa, I want you to get my dad a car, so he can finally give me my bike back!
Homer: I grant him one PT Cruiser with blue flames on it.
Lisa: Should we really be discussing presents while Santa’s in critical condition in the hospital?
Homer: Presents?! I’m not thinking about presents! I’m thinking about pizza. No, cookies. No, milk. No, cheese…
Lisa: Dad, stop saying what you think!
Homer: No, Philadelphia the cream cheese company, no, Philadelphia the city, no “Philadelphia” that Tom Hanks movie I never saw—
Lisa: Please stop! Doesn’t anyone care that the police aren’t even investigating how Santa got attacked?
Homer: Nope.
Bart: Not really.
Milhouse: I’m sure he’s getting the care he needs.
Lisa: Santa is a contributing member to our society and culture — and yes, he’s a capitalist creation who seamlessly transitioned from an advertising tool to a sanctified myth…BUT he still brings joy to children across the globe!
Marge: Sweetie, would you like to visit Santa at the hospital and give him a get-well-soon card?
Lisa: Yes, and then afterward, I want to figure out who did this to him…and why.
Homer: While you find out why…I’ve got a race to nitrous.
Make Homer Soup Up the Snowmobile- 6s
Make Bart Make a Blueprint of His Waterslide and Pool- 6s
Make Marge Visit Santa- 6s
Make Lisa Visit Santa- 6s
And this triggers the entire story premise for each act…
(and yes, just like I did for the past multi-events, I’ll be posting full dialogue for this one before the next act starts)
Now let’s talk about what’s included…
Here’s the Act 1 Synopsis from EA:
Homer and Bart head up to Mt. Useful to sign up for the sleigh race, and begin souping up Homer’s snowmobile to make sure they win. Meanwhile, Marge and Lisa go to visit Santa at the hospital. Santa is in a coma, but they meet an old friend of his there, Herb Tannenbaum, a walking, talking Christmas tree from The North Pole. It seems Herb and Santa were together and they were both attacked, and Herb had his arm cut off! Now that they have a first-hand witness, Marge and Lisa bring Herb along for their investigation. Herb takes them to Santa’s Village where the attack happened, and they being scouring the scene of the crime. They discover Burns there and question him about the attack, but his alibi checks out (he was busy building a creepy bone sleigh to compete in the race on Mt. Useful). Marge and Lisa discover a broken Christmas ornament at the scene, which Herb confirms is from his body and must of broken in the attack. Marge and Lisa are immediately suspicious of Herb.
Up on Mt. Useful, the Park Ranger is signing people up for the sleigh race. Homer, Burns, and Krusty all get signed up and argue over whose sleigh will be the fastest.
Before leaving Santa’s Village, Lisa spots a peculiar looking “Santa” taking Christmas wishes from little kids, and tearing off his hat reveals it to be none other than Sideshow Bob. Bob claims he has an ironclad alibi, in that he was behind iron bars in jail the night it happened. Time to go confirm that with Wiggum… At the jail they find out Wiggum isn’t even investigating the case since he figures that Marge and Lisa have it under control, but he does confirm Sideshow Bob’s alibi.
DO NOT FORGET TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN IN THE TASK BOXES (PICTURED ABOVE) TO BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL TASKS FOR EACH PART.
I’ll lay out specifically what you need to do for each part in the turbo tappin’ post, but I don’t want any of you to get messed up with this. So don’t forget to SCROLL!

Note from EA: This box has unique functionality in that once all items are owned, the box refreshes to show only the non-unique items in the box, allowing the player the option to continue using Gift Cards on duplicates of any of those non-unique items. Well guess this is it for me. My potato phone can’t handle TSTO anymore, after downloading the update it immediately deleted all the cache files the next day forcing me to download the entire game again. Had enough with it and I can’t afford to free more space so bye bye it is, it’s been fun for 6 years.
Looks like the option to buy golden axe has vanished, I doubt I bought it accidentally since the pickaxe symbols above the donut veins remain displayed with a silverish color. Any tips for recovering it?
Also, go tap the available donut veins in you friends towns for a yummy surprise… 🤫
Yes, I am now up approx 1500 🍩 by going back and forth between 2 neighbours (my sisters) that had untapped veins. The vein taps didn’t count as neighbour visits so I tapped all they had, back and forth and back again …. Unfortunately after multiple repeats, the donuts are no longer adding to my count when I go back to my town. It was fun while it lasted !

“I have reviewed your email and come to know that your game is crashing after the Christmas update, I’ll do my best to give you possible information for it.
I would like to inform you that we are receiving the similar contacts and many of the customers are facing the same issue. Its a known issue. Good thing is that, this has been brought into the notice of the dedicated team and they are diligently working to fix it as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.
I would request you to wait for some time till this gets though I know nobody likes to wait but rest assured the team is actively working on it and the issue is been addressed on priority. game team are aware of that issue and are working on it, but there is no time frame for a fix yet.
We at EA customer service make every attempt to resolve each issue, but sometimes a resolution is simply not possible due to problems beyond our control.
Thank you again for your cooperation and valuable time.”

There will be a dinner exchange for them (the gift cards). Also I believe, but haven’t confirmed, if you buy those icebergs it’ll reload with the non-unique items
Totally cleared out my tab with everything apart from the game and still doesn’t work, same specs as my phone apart from processor, my phone works fine. Hate playing on my phone 😶😑

I just noticed that kids can all Trick or treating. Since when did that happen does anyone know?
Dead in the water. After the update the game crashes in my A game on my phone and in my B game on my old tablet. I have plenty of space. I removed and reinstalled as well. Sayonara TSTO.
App still not loading for me either. Feels like the splash screen is totally mocking me.
You may want to hold off on a final goodbye to the game until you see whether EA releases an update/patch that fixes the crashing issue. It’s happened before! Also, have you contacted EA to report your issue and/or ask for help? But, if you’d rather just walk away less than one day into a new event, I guess that’s your prerogative….

Try to clear all your cache and any old text message theads, images, and video. The latter will help too.
You will probably answer this, but the Golden Pickaxe… does it work forever or just during this event? Buying it for 100 donuts now with lots of land left seems like a no brainer, if it gives you 3x the donuts for the rest of the veins you open.
It doesn’t give you 3x more on every vein. It gives you a 3x better CHANCE (ie odds) that a vein will pay out the jackpot.

It should work for all remaining land tiles.
I bought the golden Pickax and all of the donut mines I’ve harvested since then have been very small. Is there something that I need to do to activate the pickax? I’m feeling totally ripped off right now by EA.

Mostly right on point, Safi! But I’d tweak what you said…I wouldn’t say “should get three times as many jackpots,” I’d say “three times as likely to get a jackpot for any one strike.” Not really the same thing…
If you flip a coin 4 times, you don’t necessarily expect it will come up heads twice and tails twice; if you flip it 10 times, it could still easily come up heads all 10 times, even if there’s nothing wrong with the coin. EA didn’t “rip you off”…. you’re just experiencing the way “odds” work. They didn’t promise that you’d get a bonus payout after a certain number of tries…they just said your odds would be three times better. “Three times more likely” does not a certainty make. (BTW, I haven’t gotten a rich donut vein either yet, with off without the golden pickaxe, which I, too, purchased. But I still have a ton of unopened land, so I’m not fretting too much about that.)
I have opened up six mines so far since I got the golden pixels ax. They have ranged from 1 to 14 donuts, I was getting higher payouts before I got the golden ax. I still feel completely ripped off.
Correlation is not causation and it’s totally not surprising that, with only six squares, they all come up tails (so to speak), when if before, you happened to hit a run of heads. You may want to read up on probability theory, or you can just decide to feel ripped off, even though there’s absolutely no proof of that. Sure, it is possible that they messed up the coding and there really is an issue with the golden pickaxe, but that’s unlikely and you really don’t have any good evidence of that, based on what you’ve reported. But if you’d rather feel bad/angry/resentful/whatever, that’s certainly your choice! 🤷♀️
Maybe it’s because the rest of the donut veins don’t pay out as much as the first 20 or so. I cleared the entire new land section within a day of it coming out, and found that at first, I was getting a few great donut “jackpots” every now and then, then the second half or so was yielding very little. The more you clear, the fewer donuts the mines seems to have.
Hmm… about the “Mr. Plow’s Plow” item. When I click on that, I get sent to the Currency screen, but there’s NO $9.99 option available, much less one with the plow. I see $1.99, $4.99, $19.99, $49.99 and $99.99. Is this a bug, or will it perhaps actually come later, or is there another way to find it? (I _did_ try the “Donut Promotion” button, but that also just goes to the Currency screen.) I never thought twice about that dang plow, but now I want it!!!!
No it should be there. Likely an issue with your game directly it may show up later
I have the same issue…no tray of donuts, no Mr. Plow’s Plow. Same items in both that group and the bonus donuts group. Could having the Mr. Plow skin (which I do), be somehow related to this issue?
Maybe having glitched out a stack of Android users they figured those on iOS ought to get an issue too ?!? 😜

My A town does have the Mr Plow skin and the deal in store – on Android – but not checked my B town – on Kindle – as I type
I have an iPad Pro with all current updates. I don’t have the Mr Plow’s truck $9.99 donut package, either. I really want to get it. Reported as a bug to EA.
I am experiencing the same issue on iOS.
I’m using iOS as well… maybe that’s the common thread? Anyone having this issue NOT on iOS? (I see at least one comment that it was working properly for someone on Android…)

Dug out my years old Kindle Fire that I retired when I got said tablet and it not only runs, with less lag than previously, it also updated while I was charging it up 😊

Well . . . I’ve got one bit of un-bought new land I left alone, but I did get the duplicates glitch and have mined over 150 veins – which is why I guess I didn’t get offered that pickaxe. Oh well !!
I have 32 GB free, 4 GB RAM, android 7 (the game requires 4.1 and up, so 7 is good enough, no?). I did everything I could think of – shutting game down, restarting phone, un- and re-installing game, restarting phone again, and nope, still crashing when the town should be showing up. I’m starting to look like Marge on the splash screen.
Is the golden pick axe a one time use or have a use limit? Or are you able to use it for as long as you have open land spaces to dig?

I’m not having any issues getting in, playing and seeing the box items. I still have more then half of the new land locked, but I am not seeing the golden axe in the store. Is there something we need to do to get it?
No, it should automatically be in the store in the Whodunnit section.
Anyone else having the same issue? I bought a section of land with donuts just to see if i needed to have a purchases lot with a donut vein, but still not there.

My guess is you’ve mined at or over 150 veins.
I got duplicates and I also rushed, and noticed it only saved the sprinkles from the first 150 veins ( one per new tile ) that day, so I guess it counted ’em as I mined.
Left some rocks and one un-bought tile in one town but that didn’t help and I’m mining those last few rocks very, very slowly and making sure the sprinkles get saved.
Graham, not even half way there with the new land. And I bough some with donuts and didn’t mine them jus t to see if that was the case, but still no axe. I have reached out to EA tho, so fingers crossed

You won’t see the golden axe if you’ve previously mined all the rocks….could that be the case in your situation?
i thought maybe that was it too. I went and bought another section and didn’t mine it to see. But still no golden axe. Going to uninstall and reinstall and see if that works. If not, will be contacting EA

Duplicating glitch where each land tile has multiple (3) versions of each item. Since I had this glitch does this mean no golden pick axe. Some tiles (more expensive) have only single versions items. Where do I look for help? Thanks.

Yep, I had the duplicating glitch. Had most of the first three rows yield three or four mines. Had several mines yield 100 donuts. One reason I kept rushing until the glitch ceased.

reading below, maybe I don’t have the glitch. If It is when you try to move something and it gives you another one, then yes. If it is something where duplicates are already there when u purchase it, then no I don’t.

When I click on the Mr. Plow’s Plow promo it just directs me to the donut store with no $10 option to buy it. All that shows up is the 12, 60, 900, and 2400 donut options.
Yah, me too. May have something to do with already having the Mr. Plow skin for Homer? Sure hope not… gonna give it a few more days….

Did you get the right answer? You only get the ticket if you choose the right answer…you should see a “Success” message.

I got my Gift Card and was able to purchase one of two items in my Last Minute Gifts box. Are you sure you selected the correct answer on the first attempt? You should get a popup message that says correct and when you collect the Gift Card should take you straight to the Last Minute Gifts box.
Some quick thoughts/observations…
The Yahweh gravy train is over….he seems to have lost his 24-hour task for donuts that I perpetually had by not doing Moses’ next task in that questline. I don’t know whether it will come back (albeit only every 72(?) hours by doing the multi-step thing, as was designed to happen if you didn’t arrest the questioned)… So, it may be time to do Moses’ 4-hour task to preceded with that questline, and at least be able to earn donuts every three days, but I’ve put that off and sent Yahweh to Dance the Señor Burns until I see what others here have to say about what they did/discovered about this…
Going into the Mr. Plow’s Plow option in the store doesn’t show the tray of donuts or the plow anywhere…it looks just like what you see when you go into the Donut Promotion option….seems to be some kind of coding error there maybe?
I like the fun addition of the trivia question, but wish the currency you win for that could be used to purchase some new items…I only have two items in the associated box, both of which are returning things I haven’t gotten before because I didn’t want them, (Same with the other mystery box.) I’m all for newer players having the opportunity to get stuff they missed before, but would it kill EA to throw in a few new things for us longtime players? That might even give longer-time players an incentive to spend real money to buy tokens!
I’ve kind of designed myself into a corner…it was REALLY hard to find a place to put Mt. Useful, even though I still have tons of regular Springfield land left, because of the way I’ve designed stuff. I ended up having to put it in the new wilderness land area, and it’s a bit awkward having that as a kind of standalone mountain…but it will do for now. Maybe when I open up land near the far mountain range in the new area, I can move it over there later….
At any rate…happy to have a new event, happy it’s Christmas themed, if only so I don’t have to listen to people whine about it not being Christmas-themed, and really happy that EA has gone off of autopilot and have been adding some new features to events (like the trivia questions in this one)!

I have both him and Moses and am not aware of a perpetual 24 hour loop for the donuts..
Too late now. But previously if you had not finished Yahweh’s questline, there was a part of the questline that required you to send Moses for 4 hours and Yahweh for 24 hours to earn donuts. If you did NOT send Moses for 4 hours, you could keep sending Yahweh indefinitely every 24 hours for donuts. But they just changed that with this update today. So now the only way is the intended way, to earn donuts every 52 hours by completing seven 4-hour tasks followed by an eighth 24-hour task that earns donuts.
Boy, you just explained that a lot more clearly and succinctly than I did, lol! Had I seen your comment before writing mine, I wouldn’t have bothered!
Well, it’s gone now… But, what is was was that, if you didn’t progress the questline past the 24-hour task for him to earn donuts (i.e., you didn’t do Moses’ 4-hour task to put his feet up), you could just keep sending Yahweh on his 24-hour donut-earning task. But it seems that, with this event, they’ve removed the 24-hour task, at least until you continue the quest and get to the part where he can go through the steps to earn donuts every 72(?) (or is it 52?) hours.
There’s 6 4 hour tasks and then the 24 hour task so that’s 48 hours unless you want any sleep !?!
You could realistically still get 3 cycles a week 😊
( it’s the same as the questline tasks all over again )
PS – watch out if you use the UO, it’ll put every other 4h task first and the ones with Step . . . last !! ( He’ll be doing some building related task like Drink and Babysit, where there’s a heap of people, if you’re not careful )
Thanks for the heads up! Oy…I didn’t mind having to search for him every day to collect and send him back on his 24-hour task when I was getting a bunch of donuts for my trouble, but this is gonna be annoying. Oh well, it was a fun ride with him while it lasted!

Big disappointment as I have to play on my phone as my tab won’t complete the start up of my game, not much difference to the specifications, not ideal as I like the bigger screen 👓, event itself looks great but until my tab starts to work I won’t be able to enjoy it as much 🙃😜🏴
