The End is Near for the Holiday Whodunnit Event…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that the Holiday Whodunnit Event Ends TOMORROW January 12th.

It’s time to clear out the snow and move onto something new in Springfield!

As far as questlines go, what’s happened in the past is that the current prize you’re working on (on any Act questline) you were able to finish.  Once that current prize was completed then the questline disappeared.

This means that you will want to make that final push to gather up all the things you want from the Event before it goes with the Event.

As far as what is going to happen AFTER the Event… well, we can’t know… until it is over. Until then all we can do is speculate. So, patience. We all have to verify what happens after together.

Also, It’s EA so who the heck knows…the trend seems to be a week off between Multi-Events and Mini-Events. (although that was blown up after the last event…)  So it’s likely we’ll see nothing this week, and a mini-event next week. Perfect time for redesign work!

(and don’t forget about Showoff!  Submissions are due tonight!)

Now as far as what is going with the Event, here is a brief rundown…

  • Questlines linked directly to the progression of the event will go. Like the Main Questline that pulled you through all 4 Acts. (unless you’ve started one, any questlines started you’ll be able to finish that part one the event ends)
  • However, the questlines linked directly to the prizes and Premium Characters you’ve won will remain. (so Nutcracker, Elf Moe, etc.)
  • The event removal will likely require an app store update to fully remove it from your game.  So don’t panic when the timer runs down and the event isn’t out of your game (or the splash screen remains the same)…  It will require an app store update to remove everything.

I know some of you still try to push that last few minutes of the collection as far as you can. However, EA has really shut off the ability to play on “borrowed time”.  In other words, once the timer runs out the ability to collect prizes ends.  So don’t count on getting any extra time with this one.  Try to finish everything up before the timer runs out tomorrow morning. (9am ET)

So finish up those questlines, relax, and wait to see what EA has next in store for us.

I’ll be back later today with the final dialogue for Act 4 of this event, to wrap it all up and find out just who got to Santa!

Oh and another reminder…don’t forget Springfield Showoff!  Submissions for your event designs should be emailed (TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com) by tonight.  So please be sure to send them in! 🙂

Are you sad to see the event go?  Or ready for it to finally be over?  How did you do with the prizes?  Get everything you wanted?  What are you hoping to see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Need some help: my daily task from yesterday is to have three Christmas specials at the broadcasting studio station 6 but the option to run the Christmas special is greyed out. I can see it at the bottom of things I can do with the station but it’s greyed out and says “Time requirement from local time”-how do I complete this task???

  2. Also the daily is no longer the Christmas 3 hour son one went to finish last one late as could not get in til now and it’s gone as far as collecting but is still shows available ?? Oh well at least I finished the quest with donuts so one more completed. Thank you for all the updates, advise, and just the time you give to make the game so much more enjoyable. I and I should say we appreciate all the information, answers, and time your put in.

  3. I may not get the Warehouse Hideout. Not concerned.
I’m still on the Rich Texan’s Sleigh. Yet, without the character, not sure if it’s even worth it.

    Meh.

  4. Only thing I can’t figure out it is, if the forget me not store Is currently paying out gift cards for stuff or doughnuts, an the event timer ends what will happen to the current timer thst would be saying gift awarded at this time tomorrow after the event timer ends.

Cause if the store needs a app store update to change its payout process then I would expect stlesst a small update. Very soon, like tomorrow.

An if it doesn’t, then st the very least I expect alot of folks either very happy to continue getting free stuff until the app does update or, alot of upset folks because there store said they would be getting another gift card an then all of a sudden they didn’t. Over on reddit sub posts.

Either way I’m good I got everything from it. An honestly I’d be supervised if they didn’t do a small update to change the payout system for it.

One thing we used to be able to to do was hold out on updates for a few days till the app required the most recent update to continue playing though, so, I’m not sure. But it’s worth a try for those thst may still need stuff, if that helps.

  5. Dear EA – LOVED the trivia – keep it up in THoH and other events. Also please recycle some of the old NPCs (zombies) and the Evil Shopkeeper (solo).

  6. If you’ve been saving up your “gift cards,” have wall of the unique items in the gift card box, and aren’t hurting badly for donuts, I highly recommend trading them in for non-unique items, rather than for donuts, because many (of not most) of those items come with bonus multipliers, which, in the long run, especially if you have the Collider and keep it running all the time, will earn you more donuts than just cashing the cards in for donuts will. I’ve increased my bonus % by 18.2% so far, and it would have been more if I hadn’t started out trading in a few cards for donuts.

Keep in mind that you can usually easily hide items behind buildings and large decorations, so don’t worry if you feel like the items don’t really have anywhere to go in your town. (I will say that it’s harder, if not almost impossible, to hide the icebergs, though, since there aren’t a lot of things that go on water that you can hide them behind. Fortunately, I was able to add them on to my whole aquarium area…).

The one exception to this suggestion is if you’re already struggling with item limits, but, it might be worth taking a look around to see if there’s anything in your town that you’re willing to store to make room for the items with bonus multipliers.

  7. We’re a few weeks away from the 10 year anniversary of this silly little game. I hope they do something to acknowledge it in an upcoming update. I’ve been playing ever since summer 2012, after they pulled and re-released the game to fix bugs. I can’t believe that I’ve been at this for almost 10 years.

    • Michael Sawyer-Todd

In my Springfield I have Est. 8-18-2012. That’s the date I downloaded the app. I remember when EA pulled the game for retooling.

      • You’re just about one week “senior” to me. I can see from the App Store that I first downloaded it on 8/24/12.

        • Thank you! I never knew that I could see in the App Store when I first downloaded an app! It turns out, I started playing on August 10, 2014. (I knew approximately when it was, because I knew I started playing when I was out on disability for almost six months, but interesting to learn the exact date.)

          • I’m unsure of the exact date I first downloaded this game.. but I started playing it in around 2010 with my brothers when we all first got iPods. I was quite in and out of playing it over the years but have been loving getting back into it!!
