Gil’s Latest Gimmick: Details and Should You Buy The Bearded Lady & Circus Train?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ol’ Gil is back in Springfield! Always a pleasure to see our favorite salesman roaming the streets of Springfield! (hey EA, when the heck are you going to make Gil a playable character?!)

Anyway, Gil is back and, as always, he’s got another “deal” for us.   What’s the latest gimmick he’s peddling? Well, this one is a real trip to the circus!

So let’s break down the details of this latest offer and determine if this deal is worth the donuts or if you should take a hard pass…

So when you first get into Springfield you’ll see Gil waving his arms around…just begging you to tap on him…

If you tap on him you’ll see…

Gil: Hey, friend, have I got a deal for you!  You can’t contain this train, to pass on it would be insane! Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, and Seals…adding this train is sure to appeal! Did ol’ Gil’s rap win you over?  I an lay it on ya again.  I have nowhere else to be.

At which point you’ll see his latest gimmick…

If you refuse…

Gil: Aw, shucks.  I knew I overdid it with that rap. You put your wallet away and took a nap! Speaking of naps…there’s an empty park bench. Gil’s gonna be off the ground in slumberland tonight!

If you accept…

Gil: You’ve made an excellent purchase.  This puppy gets seven miles to a shovel of coal. Just don’t get between the clowns and their hippo juice.  They’re pretty feisty when it comes to that stuff.

Now real quick…if you refuse the offer will go back to the store.  It will be there…

This Deal Ends March 16th (when the event ends)

And now for the part, you’ve all been waiting for…the Should I Buy…

The Rundown:

What Did I D0?:
I like the train, don’t really care about the bearded lady, but I am annoyed there are no tracks with this one (and the train doesn’t have a motion animation).  However, I still grabbed it.

  1. See EA? This is yet another item you could easily have set up with a track system exactly like the monorail. It’d be entertaining, it’d have offered a load more interactivity with the train than we currently have, and to boot you could have sold train stations for donuts that the thing would stop at. It’d require a bit more work obviously, but it would have fit the theme of a travelling circus perfectly.

And while you’re at it, how about making cars we have in the game actually use the roads? That literally would be something you could do a small code edit for from the monorail system and have working.

    • I don’t think the problem is with the difficulty in coding this, I think it’s more the load it would put on some people’s devices. I remember that, when the monorail came in, some people would have trouble visiting the towns of people who kept their monorail running, because it would crash their game. TSTO is a HUGE game that takes a lot of space and resources to run, and any significant addition to that load can be problematic.

  2. Bearded Lady with Circus Train (Engine + 5 Train Cars) – I haven’t made a decision on this Gil Deal …. I ♥️ the Bearded Lady (not pleased she isn’t voiced!) I ♥️ the 🚂 with 5 🚃 ‘s , but I got to say we should’ve had Train Tracks (c’mon EA stop being so L-EA-Z-Y!) Either I will obtain this, or I will wait for it to show up in a Mystery Box (and it will!) 🤔

    If you want it?
    (you got the 🍩’s)
If you got room for it?
(you’re not worried about available space in your Springfield)
    You’ll obtain it 👍🏻

  3. If I’m not mistaken the other trains we’ve had over the years are all about the same scale so it shouldn’t be a stretch to create ground tiles for tracks. If they’re a little off that could be dealt with in one of the updates when the graphics could be refreshed, like when they bring us the winter versions with the snow on.
It doesn’t have to be complex, they could even tweak the concrete pavement to look like buried tram lines or be really kind and make it a sub-menu like when you go to choose the shape and size of a monorail piece, and add bends and perhaps even points so it’s not just a straight run. Again I wouldn’t expect motion like the monorail so the bends could be unrealistically tight on a single 4×4 ground tile and perhaps the points would need to be 8×8.
The trains are 3 wide, or at least this one is so perhaps a little chicane like the monorail “S” sections to shift from one side to the other of a 4×4 tile and the tiles would need 4 versions to rotate fully.

  4. bought it and placed it in the circus area. its okay. if you have the donuts to spend go for it other wise just skip it.

  5. Bought it.
I can store the circus cars, but if I store the engine, THAT stores the bearded lady

  6. The Plaid Cow

For me, the sale image showing up is the wrong one, but thanks for all of the info!

  7. mr.rooney.to.you
