Over the past 600+ episodes, The Simpsons has taken us on an amazing journey involving music, science, and food to name a few concepts.

And what better way to start your week, than by discussing some of these concepts Monday morning?

So let’s get started this week by talking about a couple famous TV jingles from the last century.

In the one hundredth and second episode of The Simpsons, Lady Bouvier’s Lover (Season 05, Episode 21), after one hundred and one episodes as an 11 month-old, it’s finally Maggie’s 1st birthday. Unfortunately Homer had a little typo on the birthday cake.

But all is well as the whole Simpsons -Bouvier clan show up including Grampa Abe Simpson and Grandma Jacqueline Bouvier.

As they reminisce on past Simpson-Bouvier parties, they force Bart and Lisa to sing some old songs they used to previously sing. The songs turn out to be a couple of TV jingles. The whole family joins in on singing and dancing to both jingles.

Lisa: “Doesn’t this family know any songs that aren’t commercials?”

Seeing how lonely Abe and Jackie are, Marge gets the idea of setting them up on a date.

While Abe falls in love with Jackie, a conniving Mr. Burns cuts in and woos Jackie.

Ultimately, Mr. Burns and Jackie are about to get married, when Abe comes to the rescue and stops the wedding.

Armour Hot Dogs Jingle

Armour & Company was an American company founded by the Armour brothers in Chicago in 1867. It was one of the five leading firms in the meat packing industry and by 1880 had become Chicago’s most important business and had helped make Chicago and its Union Stock Yards the center of America’s meatpacking industry. Presently, the Armour food brands are split between Smithfield Foods (for refrigerated meat – “Armour Meats”) and ConAgra Brands (for canned shelf-stable meat products – “Armour Star”).

Chicken Tonight Jingle

Chicken Tonight is a brand of sauce intended to be added to chicken pieces in a skillet, that initially launched on October 23, 1990 under Unilever’s Ragú brand in the United States and Canada. In 1993, it was launched in the United Kingdom under the Knorr brand and in Australia under the Raguletto brand.
