(Today’s post is sponsored by the letter “M”)

Over the past 600+ episodes, The Simpsons has taken us on an amazing journey involving music, science, and food to name a few concepts.

And what better way to start your week, than by discussing some of these concepts Monday morning?

So let’s get started this week by talking about a popular product.

In the one hundredth and third episode of The Simpsons, Secrets of a Successful Marriage (Season 05, Episode 22), Homer is having a guy’s night out. When everyone else refers to him as slow, Homer takes a few hours to provide a comeback.

When his family agrees that he is slow, Marge suggest he seek change and improvement. She recommends he take a class at the Adult Education Annex.

When Homer see’s Lenny and Moe teaching classes, he decides to teach as well and goes to see the Administrator.

Administrator: “What is your area of expertise?
Homer: “I can tell the difference between butter and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!.
Administrator: “No, you can’t, Mr. Simpson. No one can.

Eventually Homer is assigned to teach a class on ‘Secrets of a successful marriage’.

Things take a turn for the worse when Homer is kicked out of the house for sharing private family secrets with his students and inviting them for dinner without telling Marge.

But eventually Marge takes Homer back in.

But have you ever wondered what I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter! is?

  1. Carl: Hey, don’t yell at Homer just ’cause he’s a little slow.
Homer: [Thinking] Something was said. Not good. What was it? ‘”Don’t yell at Homer”! No, that’s okay. What was it? “Slow.” They called you “slow'”! How dare you call me that? I– Huh?
Lenny: Hey, Homer, you still here? Boy,you are slow.
Homer: [Thinking] Something said. Not good.

  2. Just curious about how you come up with your ideas for your Monday morning posts?…do you just watch a random episode and choose something in the episode to talk about?…or in this case, did you just open your refrigerator? Either way, I enjoy the randomness.

  3. G’day Safi
I remember well this episode, it was good one.
About this horrible emulsion, butter would be better than that. Palm oil and palmitate are terrible, it’s amazing how they promote it as a healthy product! Natural oils or natural raw butter are healthy. Cooked butter is really bad.
Thanks for that Safi. I am not a regular reader of your post for lack of time and other activities.
    Keep well and safe.
