Gil’s Latest Gimmick: Details and Should You Buy Gil’s Car Deal?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Ol’ Gil is back in Springfield! Always a pleasure to see our favorite salesman roaming the streets of Springfield! (hey EA, when the heck are you going to make Gil a playable character?!)

Anyway, Gil is back and, as always, he’s got another “deal” for us.   What’s the latest gimmick he’s peddling? He’s trying to make us all cool with a bundle of cars!

So let’s break down the details of this latest offer and determine if this deal is worth the donuts or if you should take a hard pass…

So when you first get into Springfield you’ll see Gil waving his arms around…just begging you to tap on him…

If you tap on him you’ll see…

Gil:It’s a scientific fact that owning a cool car makes YOU cool! Well, ol’ Gil can make you cooler than a professional mobile game writer with this red hot hot rod offer!  Not one, not two, but FIVE cool cars!  Not three or four either, by the way.  And if you buy now, they promised Gil he can sleep in the shipping container tonight!

At which point you’ll see his latest gimmick…

If you refuse…

Gil: I get it.  You must be one of those fancy types who takes mass transit.  Some day ol’ Gil will join your ranks…

If you accept…

Gil: I’d congratulate you on your fine purchase, but now you’re too cool for Gil to talk to.

Now real quick…if you refuse the offer will go back to the store.  It will be there…

This Deal Ends May 18h (when the event ends)

And now for the part, you’ve all been waiting for…the Should I Buy…

What Did I D0?:
We’ve been asking for more cars in Springfield for nearly a decade now, it was hard for me to pass this one up. Yes, the cars don’t drive on the roads…they never do.  Yes, it would be cool if they did…but I’m not surprised by it.
I like this combo because I like the cars.  I’m not thrilled that there isn’t a bonus % attached to them…but I still like the cars.
This is one of those, if you want more cars grab it.  But don’t do it for practical reasons…like bonus %…do it because you like them.   If you don’t like the cars, or have high expectations on this…pass.  You’ll just be disappointed.

What are your thoughts on Gil’s car deal?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield? Did you already?  Why or why not?   Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I agree that we needed more cars and I liked these, so bought them!

It is a bit pricey given there are no bonuses attached, even 1% for the lot (0.2% each) would have been nice.

Typical Gil deal, not very good value for donuts! 👹

  2. I bought it before finding out there was no bonus. Sorely disappointed and the cars will just be tucked away in storage

  3. Disappointed about the bonus but I liked the cars so I bought it.

  4. Greg Jablynski

I bought the deal because I had the donuts and added them to my Concours d’Elegance area I’m putting together around the Springfield Auto Show. But I did think twice about it. If it wasn’t for getting the Auto Show building or if I was a little short on donuts I would have passed. I expected more from a gil deal.

  5. Definite buy. Wish I could buy more. Better deal than taxi at 50. Having cars make if feel like a city. It would be great if cars could move but they would have to include an on/off switch. Otherwise you could not have police cars parked at Donut Shops or in front of Homer’s house. It would also be great to be able to limit characters from moving around too. (BTW if EA is reading this, included an index on character search… it takes about 40 spins to get to the Ys.)

  6. I probably wouldn’t buy if I had to spend actual cash to get enough donuts, but if you’re a farmer, then of course you should buy. Personally, I like a variety of cars in my town..but for some reason…if you don’t, then you can store them…duh. I’ve learned that I should’ve got more “groups of people” when they are available. I’m always wishing I had more of these “random people” groups that I can place in front of food stands, games, store fronts,…etc….Hopefully they’ll come around again soon. And if anyone is curious about Northern Maine…the last bit of snow is gone from my lawn!! I’m sure that must sound crazy to some…

  7. Hard pass
5 random cars that just sit there at 30donuts a piece

  8. I have a feeling this Gil Deal will be back in a Mystery Box with each Car available separately for 1 🪙 , or 20 🍩’s (and you know I will go for that Jesus Christ Super Car) to put in the ‘Heavenly Section’ of my Springfield). 👍🏻
