Shattered Dreams Mystery Box Details: When the Bough Breaks Edition (May-June 2022)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

As you reach the end of the When the Bough Breaks mini-event, you’ll see the latest update to the Shattered Dreams Mystery Box.

For those that missed it, we broke down the basic details of the Shattered Dreams Box Here.  That post will give you the basics, how to earn coins, and what the plan is for the box itself.

This post (the one you’re reading now) is meant to give you further details about the box that will appear in your game once you’ve completed the When the Bough Breaks mini-event.  So let’s get to it, shall we?

For those that need a quick refresher on the box, here’s the breakdown from EA:

Once you’ve completed the When the Bough Breaks Mini-Event you’ll trigger the Shattered Dreams Mystery Box to start up…

REMEMBER the Shattered Dreams Mystery Box is ONLY available BETWEEN events.  This means, in this case, it’ll only run from the moment you complete When the Bough Breaks until the start of the next (likely) multi-event.

The end date for this first box is slated for June 15th.  That’s 1 week after the When the Bough Breaks mini-event ends.  After June 15th you won’t have access to the box until you’ve completed the next event.

As we’ve learned from the previous event, the first go-round with this, you MUST complete the event (whether that’s a mini-event or multi-event) to see the box.  It will not appear for you unless you complete the entire event.

We also now know that the box will change with every event, as this box is completely different than the last.

Now you’ll, once again, be given a free Shattered Dreams Token to try out the box.

  1. I can’t buy tokens. Every time I try it says I already own that item. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn’t seem to work. And I haven’t been getting any tokens from daily challenges. What other way is there to get them?

  2. At least for me the whole box idea is worthless as I have everything so far and all I have gotten in the first two rounds are repeat non-unique items. Just saving my tokens for now

  3. I think I saw someone ask this earlier, but not sure anyone has ever found out the answer…. I already have Mylar Baggins, but there’s one in my box. Can I actually potentially end up with two? Is it really a non-unique item? Given all of the nerds on the box (and other non-unique items), I doubt I’d actually get the Mylar Baggins anyway, but I am curious!

    • Greg Jablynski

Yes. Every item in my box is not unique. The first prize I drew was a second Mylar Baggins.

      • Interesting! And it let you place it?

        • Greg Jablynski

Yes. Since it’s not unique you can get as many as you want. That’s why I’m not using any more tokens this go round. There are only a few items I want and since the items don’t leave the box the odds of getting what I want are not good

  4. not getting any of the tokens when playing at all, seems the game just is a little bit broken. how about a way to earn them like the land tokens. a building that costs some money or donuts that gives them out EA? other wise i just look and go, man i want that.

Not enough token’s generated from the daily challenges but I like the themed selection, unfortunately I have everything offered and don’t want anymore so I will save till another theme comes along.

  6. So far, this thing just feels like a rotational Yearbook Mystery Box – which is fine, it gives them a chance to reuse items based on a set theme, but I assumed that’s what the regular Mystery Boxes were already for.

If they were going to go to the trouble of designing a new token and system for this thing, I’d have liked it more if they’d given it its own exclusive items.

    • Not sure but AFIK adding never seen before stuff to these boxes could be considered gambling but offering a second chance at stuff you might have missed doesn’t cause the same risk.

It’s also handy for players that may have missed events for any reason or been struggling for Ds or the crafting needed.

What does seem odd to me, and I’m sure it’s just random – I mean listen to Alissa and she’s only had one Challenge for a free token – but My older town gets at least twice as many as the newer town that has more need of ’em.

Ah well, there’s always the Black Friday boxes . . .

  7. One token
    Used it, got
    Red Knight Nerd
From Clash of the Clones, before my time Event
    Neat, bonus, always wanted these
    Yippee

    Alissa, Wookie, Bunny…
    How’s Wookie doing? Finished school?

  8. I think this is a good addition to the game…being given the chance to get previous items missed is a good thing. I would like more opportunities to earn shattered tokens via daily challenges, but I get it. I’m happy they at least give a freebie token, and I’m sure they’ll get 1.99$ a few times from me..just to get those few unique items I’m missing..

  9. I earned all of one token last time on my alternate game. On that one I don’t spend actual dollars so I was hoping to get the last two unique items. Sad they are unavailable and I’m sure I will only get one of the new ones. Oh, well, it’s something to do at least between events so I like that!

  10. My dreams are shattered getting cheapo non-unique items
