Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons or current Tapped Out event) but for the most part, you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So, here is your Open Thread…..

Lots of things you may have missed this week around the Addicts Site:

  1. App update out, with nothing?

  2. New “Splash an Burn” update available for Android.

  3. I have not seen it yet but I’m about to try to get on this is the only game in the world I have had for over 10 years and the only one I have ever been made to want to play!

  4. Silly question about how to view building animations. For instance, Burns Mansion has a vulture that flies around.
I just can’t remember how to trigger the various animations. I thought I remembered that lots of them can be triggered without sending particular characters on some specific job. When I click on the buildings, all I get is the popup telling you all about the building, not the animation, even after closing the popup.

  5. So.. this happened today. I’m sure I’m not the first, but that’s going to be a lot of grinding to get that down into doughnuts..

    • I just ignore it…it will constantly go under, and back up to, the max, as you use cash at the Unemployment Office and for other routine things and then collect tasks and buildings and other routine things. Fortunately, you only get that message once! If you want to increase your donuts, buy Burns Mystery Boxes (best way to get a lot of items with bonus multipliers, which you can hide behind buildings and large decorations, if need be), make sure you ALWAYS keep your Collider running and, if you’re in somewhat of a hurry, farm KEMs, or, if you’re in a big hurry, buy and sell fleets of Rat Trap Trucks.

  6. Hello,
    Goodbye
Well not goodbye, just, welcome to slow down.
My XP is so high, my donuts so many, the challenge has waned.
My sister came for a visit and got me hooked on another town building game.
So, while I will still be around, I just won’t be obsessed with THIS game.
I will watch for the main events and I’ll be ready to
    RRRRRrrrummmmmblllllleee

I don’t know if this is the right place for my question but has anyone else found that a quest line from an item you got from the shattered dreams mystery box won’t actually let you proceed through it? I got Buck Mitchell but I can’t do his quest line am I missing an item or something?

    • That’s fairly standard for characters that were once part of an event unfortunately.

    • I’m having the same issue. He has the red circle as if someone isn’t free to start the quests but the task requires him and homer who are both free so I don’t get it. Are you on android or iOS? I’m wondering if this is another iOS issue. If you figure it out, let me know!

  8. Today’s song .

    See ya bye . 👽🎈

  9. Happy Sunday Tappers – try not melt in that excessive heat !! 😀👍🏻

  10. Hey good to see the TSTO community still alive and well whether it is in this place or in any social media platforms. Hope it continues that way!

Been doing some donut farming using the KEM method. Also doing a Simpsons marathon from the very first season and hope I can finish it (fingers cross). I only start watching The Simpsons from the 21st season so now I’m excited to watch the show from its beginning and heyday period.

Hope y’all having a great day!

    • Oh you’re in for a treat. Season 3 to 8 will really make your belly hurt from laughing so hard.

      • Yeah that’s what I heard. Heard that the first 10 seasons were so good. Fingers crossed I can watch it all by the end of this year

        • Hi all! I’m taking my 18 yr old son to Las Vegas in a couple weeks. It is his first time there. My favorite thing is the Bellagio Conservatory. What are your must do things, besides gambling and drinking, when you go there? Thanks!

          • I went to Vegas for a business conference many years ago and, while once was probably enough, I really did enjoy it. I would normally recommend doing what I did and walking/tramming the length of the main part of the strip and going into each of the major theme hotels to enjoy it’s individual kitchiness/entertainment, (the Venetian was especially cool, IIRC), but it might be too hot for that this time of year, unless you can find a way to travel door-to-door.

I’m also not sure what’s still there in terms of other stuff…for example, I really enjoyed Star Trek: The Experience thing I went to just a bit off the strip, but I know that’s long, long gone now.

For the extra days that I staid there on my own dime, I stayed at the at the Stratosphere, which was perfectly fine and much less expensive than the mid-strip hotels, like the one I stayed at for the conference, for which my company paid. The Strat had a ride at the top that swings you out into the air for a thrill and a great view of the strip….that didn’t appeal to me at the time, but your son might like it (if it still exists). (They don’t run that ride on very windy days, for safety’s sake.)

If you can afford it, there are usually some pretty cool shows you can go to, too! Taking a quick look, he might enjoy Jabbawockeez (if he likes a really good hip-hop dance crew), Shin Lim (if he likes closeup magic), Terry Fator (if he could get into really good ventriloquism comedy, or old standbys, like Penn & Teller, one of the zillion different Cirque du Sloleil shows, or Blue Man Group. (If you live near a major city, you might want to pass on the last two, since they tour more and you can probably see those closer to home.)

If I had had more time, I might have also checked out the “downtown” area.

I’m sure I probably did some other stuff that I’ve forgotten about right now (my trip was around 2008 or so)…if something else good comes to me, I’ll try to remember to come back here and let you know!

      • I totally agree…the early seasons are the best.

  11. Please let the next event be something to do with The Simpsons Movie! It’s the 15 anniversary this July 27!
