Lights! Camera! Actions! Krusty’s making a Sands of Space squeal, but will his movie survive the studio’s crazy crossover? Only time..and 5 weeks of tapping will tell!
Once again we see another multi-event in Springfield. So love them, or hate them, they’re still here. So let’s all try to make the best of this…
Anywho….things kick off with a series of 6s tasks for Lisa and Bart…
After you’ve completed the initial task you’ll kick off the Showbiz Showdown Event!
First, remember this was an app store update available for download. So if you haven’t already done so, and you don’t see the Splash Screen above (or a variation of it) for your game, or snow in your Springfield head to your app store and update TSTO. You may have to search the store for Tapped Out, as it doesn’t always appear on the update list initially…

Now on with the details for Act 1!
Here’s EA’s event synopsis:
Polystar Pictures is after another blockbuster film, and they’ve recruited Krusty to direct a reboot to his movie, “The Sands of Space”. Krusty agrees, but only on the condition that he be allowed total creative freedom.
Filming starts in Springfield and things are going well, until Polystar Pictures starts mandating that Krusty include characters from their other IPs into the movie. Krusty objects, but then realizes that the fine print in his contract states Polystar Pictures retains the right to retcon crossovers. The next thing he knows, the Marble and Cosmic Wars universes are taking over his film! Will he be able to right the ship and deliver a reboot true to his vision?
We should all know by now unless of course, you’re new to TSTO that the prizes for this event follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.
Looking through this event I’m going to say right off the bat…this isn’t high on my list of “great” TSTO events for 2022. It looks like they really wanted to try out a concept and had to reach to find prizes/items to fill out a full event. Every questline (outside the main questline) is short (only 3 parts), there aren’t a ton of characters, and this entire event will be VERY decoration heavy. Take that for what it’s worth. I choose to look at it like, summer is winding down. I’ve got a lot of things I want to do in the next month +, especially before we get into the end of the year grind (Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas)…so an event like this, while not spectacular, may just be what we all need to glide into our favorite TSTO times of the year….
So as always, keep an open mind and try to find the good. Life’s just better when you try and find the good in situations… 🙂
Here’s the event schedule:
Act 1 Starts August 10th (WEDNESDAY)
Act 2 Starts August 19th (FRIDAY)
Act 3 Starts August 28th (SUNDAY)
Act 4 Starts September 6th (TUESDAY)
Event Ends September 14th, 2022 (WEDNESDAY)
As I stated above, the initial quests are 6s. Once completed you’ll start the Dog and Phony Show questline, which is the Act 1 story to follow. This is how you’ll unlock the Act 1 prizes.

Polystar Executive: Polystar is bringing Hollywood to Springfield!
Marge: Dear God, no!
Polystar Executive: Don’t worry. Not the crappy part. We want to hear movie ideas…anything you have in your head!
Homer: I have a lot in my head!
Bart: Besides crayons and Q-Tips?
Homer: I’ll pitch my ghost that wins the lottery idea!
Polystar Executive Note, participation is restricted to children only.
Homer: Stupid Hollywood executives and your family-friendly branding!
Bart: Cool! Polystar Pictures owns the rights to Cosmic Wars AND the Marble Universe. I’ve got a ton of crossover ideas.
Lisa: Crossovers and the superhero genre? Count me out.
Bart: You do know that Polystar Pictures owns the rights to Malibu Stacy, right? They might be up for a Malibu romance. Blech.
Lisa: I’ll get our bikes!

And this triggers the entire story premise for each act…
(and yes, just like I did for the past multi-events, I’ll be posting full dialogue for this one before the next act starts)
Now let’s talk about what’s included…
Here’s the Act 1 Synopsis from EA:
A Polystar executive is discussing the results of their recent audience testing in a meeting when it’s suggested that Polystar Pictures reboots Krusty’s old film, “The Sands of Space”. When they realize that they don’t own the rights to that movie anymore, they immediately buyout Krustylu Studios in order to secure the filming rights to the film.
The only problem now is that Krusty is still contractually tied to be the sole director of that movie, so the Polystar executive meets with Krusty to negotiate on what it would take to get him to film the reboot. After an exhaustive negotiation where Krusty takes them for everything they’re worth, the two finally come to terms and Krusty agrees to direct the movie.
DO NOT FORGET TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN IN THE TASK BOXES (PICTURED ABOVE) TO BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL TASKS FOR EACH PART.
I’ll lay out specifically what you need to do for each part in the turbo tappin’ post, but I don’t want any of you to get messed up with this. So don’t forget to SCROLL!

When I completed the second stage of this act (the one that gave me the Sands of Space interior set), my store icon had the number 19(!) on it, but I couldn’t find anything new in the store! When I got the non-lighting light, it showed a “1,” because the light had been added to the store, but I don’t get what happened this time. Is it just a bug, and did anyone else see this, too? I tried looking everywhere!
I’m so tired of not having any mystery boxes…I understand why, but it would be nice if they threw us old-timers a bone…maybe make available something that was only available for real money before (which has happened occasionally in the past)? Of course, that won’t benefit those who paid to buy it, so maybe something else then? Oh, well…it’s not a big deal…I guess I’m just in a whiny mood because I didn’t get enough sleep last night, lol!
Only one thing in my mystery box, but I couldn’t be happier. Finally, the return of Mrs. Scratchy and the picnic spot! It only took 4 years…

WTF?! The movie light decoration doesn’t light up! And it’s not like EA hasn’t given us plenty of different lights in the past that did, so they have the coding for that. *sigh* Big miss on their part.

I feel like it’s not the best year for multi act events… hope this event will eventually be a good one in the end, especially during act III
With this being a movie and super hero quest(s), I had high hopes that the missing Superheroes for my collection would be in the mystery box or purchasable with doughnuts. After purchasing Polyester Studio, I go into the Showbiz Showdown folder, and only Walk of Fame Star(s). Why are they so unwilling to re-drop the Zenith City collections, or other set collections like Radioactive Man Movie Set (I own)? I feel that the last couple of full and short quest lines have been the most decent in a while, great buildings, even if cloned. This seems like filler quest with all cloned, I like my “Hollywood” land, but need those early premiums I couldn’t afford to get when they dropped. Missing Citizen Solar & Wind Lad pack
I’ve been waiting for Citizen Solar and Wind Lad forever! Was hoping this would finally be the event they came back, but no. Maybe the shattered dreams box will have them? Here’s hoping!
I agree, hopefully! I will say that Shattered Dreams has been dropping only a few items for me, but they are some pretty decent ones. Very early decorations and buildings. It’s nice to see new items, as I emptied the YearBook almost two years ago and have empty mystery boxes on main quests.
Chances are this may be the most ‘meh’ Multi-Act Event for Longtime Tappers and maybe this year … but it’s got a nice Mystery Box for New Tappers (hey take those free 🪙’s and use that to your advantage obtaining Prior Content!), so remember there’s no right or wrong way to be a TSTO Addict (Tap away, or rearrange your Springfield, or just take a break from Tapping).
I haven’t decided how I’m going to participate because I had so much fun with the prior Mini Event …. and maybe that might be it – last Event was fun, this Event looks dumb (even though the Episodes where the Content comes from were funny!) 🤔
Have to agree with the mystery box, as someone who stopped playing for about eight years, I decided to work my way through the Yearbook and get bonus up rathe than spend donuts on new content at the premium price, so I am pleased to see a lot of still fairly okay stuff in this mystery box, three or four of which will disappear from my Yearbook with any luck. About halfway through Yearbook now (on second iteration after selecting the all the most important stuff to me first), got bonus up over 650% and earn c.60 donuts a day and have chosen this point in time to consider changing strategy and buying the new stuff and just going more slowly through the Yearbook. Having said that, I would like to get the Yearbook down as much as possible before Black Friday to increase chances of getting something decent then. Decisions, decisions. That’s what helps the game achieve its longevity. Maybe once I have finished the Yearbook, I wil get my town looking a lot better than it does now!

I have a huge studio area already but was alway going to redesign it and now I have the chance, off to Greece Kos on Tuesday for a week but will have plenty time when I come back
Yeah no impressed so far….most.tomes when there are decos we can get multiples of I will buy 8-10 in case I want to use for designs later….dunno that I will for this event…most of it is going to inventory.
