Should You Buy Quetzelica?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Spending actual cash on donuts for a character is back in TSTO.  This is something EA’s been rolling out over the last few years, and it’s a new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them)  Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character/costume/building/decoration/combo to one of the donut bundles sometimes in addition to bonus donuts.

And I want to be perfectly clear…you do not need to buy these characters to complete an event.  You can still play this game, and complete all the tasks and prizes, 100% free.  These cash-for-character items are a new type of premium currency…because donuts have been so devalued with donut farming.

This time around we’re being offered Quetzelica,  a premium character for Springfield for a tray of 132 Donuts ($9.99 in the US).  While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of Quetzelica, tasks, questline and other details you may be curious about.

So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….

So what is the deal?  When you can find it in the Currency Tab of your Store (also by hitting Get More)…

Basically, spend $9.99 on a Tray of 132 donuts and you get Quetzelica.

And yes for those outside of the US I know my price is probably lower than yours.  EA only charges 9.99 USD for this package…anything over that that you are currently paying goes to Google/Apple/Amazon for Tax and Duty etc.

So here’s a breakdown on this one…

-A full premium character
-Not Voiced
-Comes with a complete set of tasks
-Comes with a questline
-Some really fun visual/animated tasks

Here’s a look at the task list

Quetzelica’s Permanent Tasks…

Task Length Earns Location
Go for a Checkup 1hr $105, 26xp Dr. Hibbert’s Family Practice
Fight Demons 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside/Visual
Commune with Nature 8hrs $420, 105 Outside/Visual
Play Baseball 12hrs $600, 150xp Duff Stadium
Explore Alternate Weapons 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Hermans Military Antiques/Homes in Springfield

And here’s the full dialogue version of the questline:

Inner Obese Pt. 1

Quetzelica: Omm…
Lisa: Omm…
Homer: What are you two doing?
Lisa: We’re communing…sharing our thoughts on a spiritual level. You should join us!
Homer: I dunno…will this get me in trouble with Reverend Lovejoy?
Lisa: No more than you falling asleep in church already does.
Homer: If I join you will you stop judging me?
Lisa: For now.
Homer: Omm…omm… *snores*
Make Quetzelica Commune With Nature- 4hrs
Make Lisa Commune With Nature- 4hrs

Inner Obese Pt. 2

Lisa: There seems to be an awful lot of criminals roaming Springfield lately.
Homer: Yeah, probably drawn to town because of this superhero event. *bites into potato chip*
Quetzelica: Quiet!
Homer: Oh, sorry, are we not supposed to eat while we commune?
Quetzelica: I’m sensing something… something very bad.
Homer: Is it Reverend Lovejoy? He’s found out I’m sleeping through someone else’s sermon!
Quetzelica: It’s the demons of the underworld come to claim my power!
Homer: Don’t let them take my potato chips!
Quetzelica: Look out!
Homer: My chips! Something knocked them out of my hands! Must. Retrieve. Chips!
Quetzelica: Get out of the way, you idiot!
Make Quetzelica Fight Demons- 4hrs
Make Lisa Get Behind Quetzelica- 4hrs
Make Homer Get in the Way Looking for Chips- 4hrs
Homer: Oh, happy day! I found them!
Quetzelica: I’m happy you’re happy, but next time defeating murderous demons should come before you searching for your chips.
Homer: Murderous demons?
Quetzelica: Did you not see that entire fight sequence?
Homer: Sorry, looking for chips causes one to miss things.

Inner Obese Pt. 3

Lisa: That was amazing! It’s so refreshing to see a woman take charge like that.
Quetzelica: Yes, strong heroines are pretty “in” right now.
Lisa: So, should we get back to communing?
Quetzelica: I’d love to, Lisa, but I need to report back to the others on what just transpired.
Homer: Don’t worry. Daddy will “omm” it up with you, sweetie.
Lisa: Okay, but can you stop crunching chips while we’re communing?
Homer: No problem. I’ll switch to quiet pasta instead. *slurps down a noodle*
Quetzelica: I can knock him out if you want…
Lisa: Nah, I’ll just wait until he falls asleep again.
Homer: Omm… *slurp* Omm… *slurp* Omm… *snores*
Make Quetzelica Report Back to Base- 4hrs
Make Homer Pass Out While “Communing”- 4hrs
Make Lisa Ignore Homer’s Snoring While Communing- 4hrs

That’s pretty much it on Quetzelica.

I’ll be honest on this one…I’m passing. Just not a character I’m interested in, so I’d rather save my money for something else down the line.

What are your thoughts on Quetzelica?  Have you made the purchase?  Will you be making the purchase? Thoughts on the questline and tasks?  Sound off below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I think I missed the last prize because my mom was in the hospital 🙁

  2. Question: so we k kw of any of these characters will ever shown up around the black Friday events? I legit forgot baby barney, and Ian w/ VW Bug…I’m probably going to skip quetzelica….but would dive at all 3 on a black Friday box roll.

Made the purchase for the donuts but quite happy with the character. It’s fun to watch her fight demons during the day or commune with nature before I go to bed.

    • I usually commune with nature during the day..and by nature, I mean grass…, and fight demons before bed..and by demons.., I mean demons.
